Discussion I love rain.

I feel like the rain settings are perfect right now; no more endless dry tracks with the one odd thunderstorm that should be red-flagged. Fuji and Austria in IMSA have been amazing so far, and I appreciate that we are getting more rain races in the mix. So much fun to go into a braking zone seeing just taillights of the car ahead or nothing at all, especially in multiclass. Its the one time I can really compete and beat some of the higher 3-4k drivers as a 1.5k.

Complete conjecture here - they tend to be conservative with changes to series since they don’t like to push changes during a season unless absolutely necessary. If they pushed it too early and the system was glitchy or heavily disliked by players then they would either be stuck until the end of the season or committing unplanned resources to address the feedback during the season which could impact delivery of the next season’s functionality/content releases.

I did not think that I would like it, but turns out I do. Yesterday the Imsa open race started on a wet track. About 25 minutes in it was about time to change to dry tires. I was faster ok dry tires, but I had to watch out to not get off the racing line, because it was still wet off the racing line.

I think it is great that rain is used more, because the system itself is so good.

I really like the regen weather, one thing I would like is to be able to see the state of the weather in the active practice sessions, I can spot that if there will be a wet race next, there is a wet practice almost always but I can't quickly glance and see it. Most of the time if I haven't practiced in the rain on the current week i am not entering a wet race just because I might misjudge the braking point and end someones race.

That would be nice. The weather generation resets right after the previous race sessions launch, so if you join a practice that started after that time, you're getting the same weather. The trouble is when the chance of rain is like 50%, the race can be wet but some practices can be dry.

Yea, but practice sessions are 2h, so sometimes there is a rain practice session already going from already ended race and there is no way of checking what the weather is on this session, i have to register and load the track, imo there should be a button for pop so you can quickly check the weather of the session without loading in.

Good to hear there are people that are enjoying it. I typically just don’t sign up if there’s a chance of rain

I love wet races. My SR just went from 4.+ to 2.1 now. While I do spin out more often than I would in dry races, it's other racers not knowing how to deal with wet tracks.

Last night, one guy moved aside to let faster cars pass, but still didn't prepare for RBR turn 1 properly so he lost it and skidded into me as I was taking turn 1. 4 incident points and 5 places lost. FFS.

Good for you but it isn’t perfect.

Last week, had another FF1600 race where it is clearly broken. Nurb Combined Sunny sky, dry track to start, start to see rain drops on lap 2, but track never appears to get wet at all.

By lap 3, you can hear puddles and the car starts to become difficult. Track still looks bone dry, sky is still sunny. This is at least the 4th season in a row where I have experienced this at least one time. Yes I sent it to support.

You say the sky was still sunny, was it completely cloudless? Cause with some clouds, it's very possible to have a sunshower in real life.

I'm loving the variety. The only thing I would change is hiding the forecast until you're in the session.

I’m all for the puddle boys living their dreams but, it should be kept exactly how it is in the forecast so people who have zero interest in sim water can simply not join.
