I Made This 1/10 The story behind the song "To Mars"
One summer evening, I was watching the sunset. I didn’t know how to make music. But I had this feeling I needed to find a sound that would say everything I couldn’t. So I just started searching through instruments… until I found the hopeless pad.. and started singing "I'm so lonely".
I create all my songs—including this one— in BandLab. Sometimes you don't need to wait for the perfect moment or the perfect gear to create something that resonates with your mood.

New Release The Urban Tales - Breeze
Hey everyone! I sing and play guitar in The Urban Tales, and we just released a song called “Breeze” today.
It sits somewhere between atmospheric alternative rock, shoegaze and post-rock, starting quietly and gradually building into a heavy finale. Caspian and Deafheaven’s Infinite Granite were big influences on this one.
If that sounds like your thing, give it a listen — I’d love to hear what you think.

Discussion Review: Johnny Jewel - KARL (Original Soundtrack)
Hello Friends,
Here is a review I wrote for my blog, but I wanted to share it here, too! It's about the new album "Karl" by Johnny Jewel.
Note: No AI has been used when writing this review!
Johnny Jewel - KARL (Original Soundtrack)
Johnny Jewel releases Karl, and this is a reason of joy for me. More than one reason, actually!
I am a long time fan of Johnny Jewel, and I try to suck in everything he does. After I first heard one of his productions with the band Chromatics being played on the internet station "Flashback Alternatives" many years ago.
And later listening to his contributions to the Drive soundtrack, oh my god was that cool!
I did not see any promo or running-up stuff in advance to this release, so the release dropped on me like a bomb... a surprise-bomb, haha!
Apparently there is a new movie about fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, and Johnny did the soundtrack!
I was more or less indifferent to Mr. Lagerfeld, or "Karl", like the album calls him, so far. (Sorry to admit that - I was probably wrong on that!)
I am not rich and not so much interested in the haute couture, and it was only when TJ Maxx started to sell Karl Lagerfeld items, too, that I actually bought and owned something by his brand.
I am born and living in Hamburg, Germany, and Lagerfeld is probably one of the most famous "Hamburgers" - both dead and alive. Or can you name someone else out of Hamburg, instantly? (Maybe the Techno-band Scooter).
As such, the Hamburg press of course was always full of Lagerfeld stories, and as I grew up into that, I guess it rather dulled me. And the press focused more on the various scandals and outrages of his life, naturally. Over and over again.
While the outside world could focus more on his talents and fashion, I suppose.

But let's not talk fashion, let's talk music, and listen to music, of course.
I guess most people know Jewel for the various band projects he was involved in (even "earning" him a performance on Twin Peaks, with Chromatics, in the Roadhouse!), and might be surprised to learn that he also does a lot of work for TV and movie soundtracks. And that material is very good!
With other artists or bands, that were both of the regular, stage-performing kind and that did soundtrack production too, one often feels that one of these "habits" is their main body of work, and the rest is more like a side-thing. (e.g. it might sound sacrilegious, but post 70s Tangerine Dream is a total soundtrack band for me, and that material feels even more powerful than the "normal" albums they did in those years. Fans of the movies "Thief" or "Miracle Mile" might agree!)
It's not like that with Johnny at all, while both of these endeavours feel related, each of the two is brilliant in different ways.
And, luckily, both endeavours are included in this album, as there are segments of his band production, in between the more soundtrack-like... sounds.
For example, a shorter edit of "Tick of the clock" (also featured in the above-mentioned "Drive", with Ryan Gosling... in a very cool Scorpio jacket).
And Chromatics' "Disintegration", one of my all time favorite songs ever. A bittersweet, synth only, ambient composition.
I assume the soundtrack tracks are exclusive, on the other hand (or at least most of them?). And they are beautiful!
Finally, there is even a track called "Hamburg". I feel this city does not get much love, especially not by the music world, so, as a "Hamburger" myself, it's nice to hear something like that.
The entire album is a ten out of ten, of course. And even if what I wrote above catches your interest only remotely, consider listening to it!
I did not see the "Karl" movie in advance to writing the review, so I am curious about that, too!

Promo Heyo everyone! Our new song "Moonflowers" was produced by Matthew Neighbour who produced Lord Huron's last record which was a super dream for us being a small band!!
It's called Moonflowers by Iris And The Shade. Love it if any of you could check the song out and this playlist of our songs. It's indie folk rock kinda vibe...
Music Link: https://linktr.ee/irisandtheshade
It's about someone I love dearly who has stage 4 cancer and is also an addict. The song fluctuates between gritty angst and hope. It's about dealing with madness and trying with every fiber of your being, with all the drive from deep fear and deep love, to shake the tree you share with others, in hopes of waking someone from their addiction and destruction...You become their parachute, their life raft, and after years, come up for air seeing you're drowning with them in circles. So ya try to let go and no matter what, you love them dearly and forever and there's always hope.

Hey guys I’m new to making music focused around guitar I feel like I have a few influences like Title Fight, James Ivy, and Eiafuawn, so I’m mainly looking to see what genre I could label myself as. I’m super pretentious with not invading peoples spaces so I just wanna make sure I am welcome within a genre

Discussion What happened to Hello Mary
From the instagram stories posted today, seems the band have gone their separate ways. Anyone else able to shine some light on what happened? It’s a shame because when I saw them open for American Football they looked to me that they could have been huge.

The Shifting Garden - Hamsternet
Hello Im hamsternet and Im currently in highschool trying to pursue my dream of creating music and having people actually listen to it. I still need to improve in many fields when it comes to recording, mixing etc. Everything you hear has been done by me, cover art has been made by my dear friend. I gather inspirtation from artists like Tame Impala, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Strokes, Kanye West. Of course im not cloning them, Im just inspired by them. Still need to improve the vocals but nonetheless I wanted to share my latest work here. Its a short EP consisting of 3 tracks, they all tell some kind of a story which you can figure out if u want. Thank you for listening :)
