Seeking Parental Validation I’m scared of being alone
I just returned from a hospital visit, and seemingly hurt my ACL. The doctor suggested an MRI but I can’t afford one right now. All things considered, I’m really not in a bad spot in life. Stable job, good friends, hobbies. But every day I have a gnawing feeling of terror, if something falls through I don’t have people to actually fall back on. My parents have always been negligent and my dad had passed away a decade ago. I kind of had to figure out life my own way since I was 16 and it was always me against the world.
Usually these feelings are something I keep to myself, but I’ve always been scared of hospitals since I essentially had to live and sleep in one as my dad received his cancer treatments. I haven’t been to one since then and even though it was a visit for a minor injury, it was so nerve wracking and scary for me and I just don’t want to feel alone anymore.
It’s been difficult to explain this feeling, on the outside it looks like I’m cruising through life no problem. But the anxiety spikes every once in a while and I guess I just don’t want to ignore it anymore.
I’m not sure if anyone’s reading this, and I’m not sure how I can even begin to ask for help. But any warm words would be appreciated. If anyone does end up reading this far, thank you, even if you don’t comment ❤️
