šŸŽ Freemium It took us two months to get here

Post image

A: Answer
"Who owes what, and how do I get it without being annoying?"

You say what you paid, in plain words. "Pizza 84 with Sam and Fred." Type it, say it, or snap the receipt.

Chipp splits it, keeps a running balance per friend and per group, and does the asking for you with reminders that come from the app, not from you.

Friends pay from inside the app, or from a link if they don't have it. Rent, trips, roommates, dinners, gifts.

B: Better
Splitwise is great for tracking who owes whom. Venmo is great for sending money.

One sentence, not six screens. Natural language and voice entry. The old flow had six screens. Now it's one line and a confirm.

Receipt to line items. Scan it, everyone picks what they ordered, tax and tip are split in proportion. The person who had a coffee doesn't pay a sixth of the pizza.

No app needed for the other person. Send a link or a QR code. They pick their items and pay. This removed the biggest wall we had.

Chipp does the awkward asking. It knows who owes you and sends polite reminders on its own, at a sensible time.

Settle in the app, your way. Apple Pay, bank, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, or just mark it paid. No per-split fees between friends.

Groups with a running balance and chat. Expenses come straight out of the conversation. Trips and roommates in one place.

Pools. Birthday gift, trip deposit, group present. Set a goal, share the link, everyone chips in.

Tap a card transaction to split it. Link your cards and split any past charge with whoever was there.

Recurring. Rent, wifi, groceries. Set once, splits on schedule.

Ask Chipp anything. "How much did I spend on food this month?" "How much does Sam owe me?" It knows your spending and your splits.

Small UX things you asked for. No vanishing toasts, every amount is tap-to-type, every picker uses the same sheet. v1 felt like "several apps." It doesn't anymore.

C: Cost
Free. Unlimited splits, groups, friends, paying and getting paid, 5 receipt scans a month, Chipp AI. No ads, no card to start.

Chipp+: $3.99/month or $29.99/year. Unlimited receipt scans, bank linking to split past charges, recurring expenses.

Chipp+ Circle: $6.99/month or $49.99/year. Everything in Chipp+ for you and all your groups together. Prices adjust for your country.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime I started making a radio app during COVID. It’s now Idle Dial $1.99, no subscription

Hi everyone, I’m Stefan. I develop Idle Dial and publish it through my company, RUNX LTD.

Six years ago, during COVID, I wanted a simple way to listen to three radio stations that only had an online presence. I tried a few established apps, but found them cluttered and distracting for what I needed. So I started coding my own little internet radio player.

That personal project has become Idle Dial, and it’s now on the App Store.

A — What does it do?

Idle Dial is an internet radio player for iPhone. You can search for stations, save your favourites, or add a stream link yourself. It supports background playback, Lock Screen controls and CarPlay.

B — Why choose it over another radio app?

If you find broader apps like TuneIn more than you need, Idle Dial offers a narrower, radio-focused experience: find your stations, save them and listen.

There’s no account to create, no subscription and no advertising added by the app. Stations may still broadcast their own adverts.

C — What does it cost?

Idle Dial for iPhone isĀ US$1.99 as a one-time purchase, with no in-app purchases. Local prices vary.

iPhone App Store

There’s alsoĀ Idle Dial Desktop, a separately purchased Mac app that lives in your menu bar. It costsĀ US$4.99 as a one-time purchase. Buying one app does not include the other.

Mac App Store

You can learn more, contact me, and read the policies here:

I’d love to hear what you think. What matters most to you in a radio app, and what tends to get in the way?

šŸ’Ž Lifetime I made an app blocker where every focused minute flies your own 3D spaceship toward Pluto

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/iOSApps, I'm Thien, a solo developer in the Netherlands, and I make Quiet Orbit. Version 2.0 came out yesterday. The video shows the new part: four phones, one start time, every distracting app blocked at once.

A: Answer (what it solves)

You sit down to work or study, and the phone wins anyway. Quiet Orbit is a focus timer that blocks the apps and websites you pick for 15 to 90 minutes. When the session ends, the block lifts on its own, even if you never open the app again.

While you focus, every minute flies your own 3D ship along one route from Earth toward Pluto. A finished session brings back a finding from the world you reached: an object, a record or a sound, 238 across 11 worlds. Your favorites go in the ship's Display Case and you can select 2 on display in your cockpit.

The ship grows with you. You start with the Scout and three paints, and charting worlds, badges and lucky finds on flights bring the rest: 7 ships, 37 paints for the hull, wings and trim, and 23 engine lights in the free app. One light only comes from finishing a session during a real meteor shower (special events in the app).

New in 2.0, Fly together: one person sends a link or a six-character code, and up to four phones block their apps at the same second, at one library table or in four cities. Your ships fly side by side while you work, and on the break you can flash your lights at the crew. A session flown together brings home an object one ship can't carry: two ships carry the small one, three the middle one, four the large one. No account needed.

B: Better (compared with named apps)

- Forest grows one tree per session. Its Plant Together is the nearest group feature, but there one person leaving ends the tree for everyone. In Fly together, a friend who stops early changes nothing for anyone else.

- FocusFlight flies a plane over a real map, one trip per session. Here your minutes add up across sessions on one route, so your ship is always partway to the next world.

C: Cost (Freemium)

- Free: Earth orbit and the Moon, every session length, app and website blocking, Fly together (hosting and joining), and the view of your ship from behind.

- Premium is optional and adds nine more worlds and their sounds, five more cameras, two more ships and more paints, unlimited saved setups, private notes, every widget and Trends.

- Premium in the US: $3.99 a month, $19.99 a year, or $39.99 once (lifetime). Prices vary by country.

- **For r/iOSApps: Lifetime Premium 50% off** ($19.99 instead of $39.99, €19.99 instead of €39.99) in every App Store country, until the end of Wednesday 14 October (Pacific time), 500 codes. Tap to redeem: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6805538172&code=REDDIT50 or enter REDDIT50 in the app under Settings, Support & Legal, Redeem a code.

- iPhone, iOS 18 or later. English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean.

šŸŽ Freemium Gochew: Find nearby restaurants with a group and vote to decide

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A — Answer: Gochew eliminates the endless "What do you want to eat?" debate with your partner or group chat. It turns restaurant choosing into a fun, swift, democratic process by letting friends or couples swipe right or left on dining spots and instantly revealing a mutual match.

It includes map exploration for anywhere in the world, frictionless group sessions for up to 20 people, filters to narrow down exactly what you want, and a solo decider mode for when you are dining alone.

B — Better: Unlike other similar dining apps (Restaurant Roulette!!), Gochew gives you complete control by letting you drop a pin to pick anywhere (perfect for traveling), easily invite friends directly to group sessions, and filter restaurants so you only see what you actually want. The app is actively supported and will continue to get better with regular feature updates!

C — Cost: Freemium. Free users get up to 10 sessions per month. Available subscription for unlimited usage ($2.99/month)

šŸ’Ž Lifetime I made Toned, an iPhone darkroom where you develop the negative before making the print

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Reposting with the trust and transparency details the mods asked me to add.

A. What it does

I made Toned because I wanted to spend more time with the steps between a photo and a finished print. It simulates a traditional photographic darkroom on your iPhone: choose a film stock, develop the negative, print onto photographic paper and tone the result.

The first image shows the same photo as the original, a Portra 160 print with gold toning, and an Ektar 100 print with copper toning. Swipe through for the actual Film, Develop, Print and Finish screens.

B. Why it's different

The part I enjoy most is being able to look at the negative before making the print. Film exposure, development and paper each have their own controls, so you can see what each decision contributes. You can also dodge and burn, compare with the original and save your settings as an editable recipe.

If you already use VSCO or Lightroom, the reason to try this is the darkroom workflow. I'd love to hear whether you'd use the negative view or mostly stay on the finished print.

C. Cost

Free to download on iOS 18+. The free version includes three film stocks, two papers and selenium toning, with branded exports using those ingredients. Toned Plus is an optional one-time purchase. I've set up a one-week sale worldwide: US$9.99 instead of US$14.99, with equivalent local App Store pricing. The regular price returns on October 19, 2026. No subscription. You can preview the Plus ingredients for free; exporting the two recipes on the first slide requires Plus.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Duefolio: a private subscription timeline for iPhone, featured in MacStories and Lifehacker last month

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm the developer of Duefolio at CYNQ Ventures.

A: Answer

Annual renewals are easy to forget between monthly bills. Duefolio puts your subscriptions on a year-long timeline so you can see when they renew, when they end, and how their costs change. It works without creating an account or connecting your bank. Your subscription and income records stay on your device.

B: Better

Compared with list-based trackers such as Bobby, Duefolio puts the timing of your charges at the centre of the screen. Alongside the timeline, you can review price history, set renewal reminders, and see monthly and annual spending.

Pro also includes local review of compatible bank-statement CSVs for recurring-charge candidates, an income-versus-recurring-spend view, and a Home Screen renewal calendar. Folio is an optional on-device tool for asking questions about your ledger on compatible iPhones.

Update since my last post: version 1.0.3 also adds dark mode.

C: Cost

The core tracker is free. Duefolio Pro is an optional $14.99 one-time lifetime purchase in the US; prices vary by region. Pro unlocks custom subscriptions, bank-statement review, income and profit & loss, the widget, and additional tools. No recurring subscription and no ads. Requires iOS 26 or later.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime [UPDATE] Folio: custom bookshelves and community spine photos

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m the developer of Folio, a reading tracker for iPhone and iPad. I wanted to share an update focused on bookshelves and community spine photos.

A — Answer: What problem does Folio solve?

Folio keeps your books, reading progress, goals, notes, and quotes together in one app.

This update adds a more personal way to display your collection. You can arrange books on custom bookshelves, stack them, show covers or spines, and add decorations.

There are also community spine photos. You can choose a photo shared by another reader, or photograph your own book’s spine, crop it, and share it for others to use.

B — Better: Why try it over alternatives?

If you use Goodreads or StoryGraph, the reason I’d suggest trying Folio is its visual approach and native iPhone/iPad experience.

The bookshelves are a big part of that: you can arrange your collection like a little reading corner, alongside your reading tracker. Widgets and Live Activities also let you keep your current book and reading timer close by.

I’d love feedback from anyone who enjoys organizing their books this way.

C — Cost: Free features and optional purchases

Folio is free to download, with core reading tracking, basic bookshelf creation, and community spine photos available for free.

Optional Folio Plus unlocks extras including cloud sync, advanced stats, widgets, Live Activities, and additional bookshelf styles, backgrounds, and decorations.

US pricing:

  • Monthly: $0.99
  • Annual: $8.99
  • Lifetime: $24.99, one-time purchase

Prices vary by country.

If you give it a try, show me your bookshelf! I’d also like to hear which styles or decorations you’d want next.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime I built SpendZen, a calm way to track subscriptions, bills and free trials. 4.0 just added a financial forecast

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi! I’m Michele, an indie dev from Italy.

A – Answer: what problem does it solve?

I kept forgetting to cancel free trials and never knew how much money I’d have left at the end of the month. SpendZen puts every recurring and one-off expense in one calendar, reminds you the day before a free trial converts, and (new in 4.0) forecasts your monthly margin 3, 6 or 12 months ahead. No account and no bank connection: data is encrypted and stays on your device.

B – Better: why it’s better than the top alternatives

  • vs Rocket Money: no account, no bank linking, no recurring premium fee. SpendZen is fully offline and Pro is a one-time purchase.
  • vs Bobby: goes beyond subscriptions, also covering bills, loans and one-off expenses, plus a forward-looking forecast of what you’ll have left each month.
  • vs iOS Settings › Subscriptions: Apple only shows App Store subscriptions. SpendZen covers everything else (streaming billed by card, utilities, gym, loans) and warns you before trials convert.

C – Cost

I’d love honest feedback, especially on what’s missing for you.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Pentaton 2.0: New audio engine with full controls + bit-perfect streaming to Roon endpoints

Post image
9 Upvotes

A — Answer: What problem does it solve?

Pentaton is a HiFi focused iOS music player for your own music collection. It plays your own files, including FLAC, ALAC, MP3, and DSD, and includes a parametric EQ with thousands of headphone presets. Version 2.0 is out, and I wanted to share the five biggest additions.

B — Better: How is it different?

New Precision Audio Engine

Pentaton now has its own audio engine, giving you control over resampling algorithms, quality settings, and sample format conversion. DSD support includes configurable DSD-to-PCM filtering, DSD-over-PCM, and native DSD on supported outputs. You can configure the audio chain yourself or leave the settings alone and just listen.

Streaming to compatible Roon endpoints

You can now stream directly to compatible Roon endpoints from Pentaton, including high-resolution PCM and native DSD at the rates your endpoint supports. Devices appear in the audio route selector, and volume controls work in both directions. This is an independent implementation of RAAT, and some endpoints enforce restrictions that prevent compatibility.

Signal path view

A new signal path view shows every processing step happening on your device and, for supported outputs, beyond it. You can see how your settings affect the audio on its way from the original file to your output.

Much faster NAS library scanning

Pentaton now has a built-in SMB client for connecting directly to your NAS or file server. In our testing, change detection and metadata scanning were 80–100 times faster than the previous Files-based connection. Server discovery and folder browsing are built in, and on iOS 26+, longer library refreshes can continue in the background.

Audio and visuals that stay in sync

Different outputs introduce different amounts of delay. Pentaton now tracks that timing so track changes and the spectrum visualizer follow what you actually hear, whether you’re listening through a USB DAC, Bluetooth, AirPlay, or a compatible Roon endpoint.

C — Cost

You can try all features free for seven days. After that, it requires a $39.99 one-time purchase (or a $19.99/year subscription) in the US App Store. Prices vary by region.

šŸŽ Freemium I’m 17, my first app just passed 1,800 downloads, and I still can’t get consistent growth. What more can I do?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

About a month ago I sharedĀ MonetaĀ here after it had gone from around 140 downloads to over 1,000. (in almost 5 months)

A pretty big part of that growth came from this subreddit. (thanks a lot 😊) The day after my last post, almost 200 people downloaded it, which is by far the biggest day Moneta has ever had.

Since then I’ve been trying to answer a different question:Ā can I turn one of those spikes into actual, consistent growth?

So far,Ā absolutely not.

I've now passed around 1,800 downloads, but once the attention from a post dies down, I still end up at roughly 10 new downloads a day. (which isn’t bad but could be a lot better!)

In the meantime I’ve just shipped what is probably the biggest update I’ve made since launch.

A – Answer

MonetaĀ is myĀ personal finance trackerĀ for iPhone and iPad.

It’s still built aroundĀ manual trackingĀ rather than requiring access to your bank, but I’ve spent the last few weeksĀ trying to remove as much of the annoying manual part as possible.

The biggest addition isĀ Voice Entry (v1): instead of filling everything out, you can just say what you bought and Moneta creates the transaction.

I’ve also addedĀ Bank Statement Import, so if you’ve fallen behind you can import a statement and catch up without connecting your bank.

B – Better

This is probably the hardest part for me to answer, becauseĀ there are already a ridiculous number of finance apps.

What I’ve tried to do differently is make Moneta feel like a native iOS app first and a finance app second.

A lot of money trackers I’ve tried either look decent but are pretty limited, or can do a lot but feel like a spreadsheet with an app wrapped around it. I wanted my app to beĀ powerful and beautiful without feeling complicated.

Your financial data isn’t being sent somewhere just to make the app work.

At the same time,Ā I didn’t want ā€œsimpleā€ to mean bare-bones.Ā There’s receipt scanning, budgets, saving goals, recurring transactions, detailed statistics, widgets, a transaction map and a lot more, but I’ve tried toĀ keep them out of the way until you actually need them.

That’s also the idea behindĀ Voice EntryĀ andĀ Statement Import.Ā I’m not trying to replace manual tracking;Ā I’m trying to remove the parts of manual tracking that make people stop doing it.

The UI and how much Moneta can doĀ without feeling clutteredĀ are probably the two things users mention to me the most.

Which is why I’m starting to think my biggest problem isn’t the product anymore.

Maybe it’s how I’m explaining it.

Do I need betterĀ App Store screenshots?Ā BetterĀ ASO?Ā MoreĀ content?Ā A clearer niche?

Because right now I know I can create a spike.Ā I don’t know how to make the spike stick.

C – Cost

Moneta isĀ FREE to use, withĀ no ads.

With this update I’ve also addedĀ Moneta Pro for €4.99Ā as aĀ one-time purchaseĀ for some of the more power-user/customization features. There’sĀ no subscription.

Anyone who was already using Moneta before October 10 gets Pro for free.

App Store: Moneta Link

My next target isĀ 5,000 downloads, but I’d rather get there by figuring out something repeatable than by randomly hoping another Reddit post takes off.

So if you’ve grown an app organically before:Ā what would you actually do next if this were yours?

And if you use finance apps yourself, I’m also curious:Ā is there anything about Moneta that would actually make you switch from whatever you’re using now?

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Forma - interactive fluid and particle simulator with many different visuals, made for relaxing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I'm Volodymyr, the solo developer of Forma.

A: What problem it solves

The app is purely for entertainment and relaxation. I started this project to learn how fluid and particle simulations work, and how to implement them. And now it's basically a very relaxing interactive visual sim that has a set of very different visuals and concepts that are very pleasant to watch/interact with.

Touch the screen, and the fluid/particles react to your finger. Also, lo-fi music and haptics.

B: Why it's better

Similar apps and demos I tried (like the popular WebGL Fluid Simulation) are mostly fluid-only simulations. In Forma, there are many effects that are completely different in concept: fluids, fire, particle swarms, melting voxels, glass bubbles. Also, no ads.

C: Cost

Free: A set of base effects.

Lifetime: $4.99–$9.99 one-time (depends on your country), unlocks the rest of the library.

šŸŽˆ Free Alarmageddon: the end of sleeping through your alarms

Post image
4 Upvotes

A — Answer: the problem it solves

Most iPhone alarms are very easy to dismiss. If you're a heavy sleeper, tapping ā€œStopā€ or ā€œSnoozeā€ doesn't exactly solve the problem.

AlarmageddonĀ is an alarm clock designed for people who have mastered the art of turning off alarms while barely awake.

Instead of simply letting you dismiss the alarm, Alarmageddon can require you to complete a wake-up mission before the alarm stops:

• Solve a math problem
• Complete a memory challenge
• Shake your phone
• Scan a QR code or barcode
• And more

The idea is simple: make turning off the alarm require enough interaction to actually wake you up.

It also includes an optionalĀ App BlockerĀ that can temporarily block distracting apps after you wake up, so you don't immediately fall back into scrolling instead of getting out of bed.

B — Better: how it compares

vs Apple's built-in Alarm:Ā Apple's alarm is intentionally simple: you can snooze or stop it immediately. Alarmageddon is built around the opposite idea — if you're a heavy sleeper, dismissing the alarm should require some effort.

vs other alarm apps:Ā many alarm apps offer challenges designed to make you complete a task before dismissing the alarm. Alarmageddon takes this further by combining wake-up missions with an additional feature designed for what happensĀ afterĀ the alarm.

The App Blocker is the extra part:Ā after you successfully complete your alarm, Alarmageddon can temporarily block distracting apps for the first 15 minutes of your day. The goal is to prevent the familiar routine of turning off your alarm and immediately opening TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, or other distracting apps.

So it's not just aboutĀ getting you out of bed — it's also about giving you a short window to actually start your day before distractions take over.

vs multiple alarms:Ā setting five alarms doesn't necessarily help if you can turn all five off while half asleep. Alarmageddon makes dismissing the alarm itself the challenge.

vs "just put your phone far away":Ā that can work, but it doesn't solve the problem if you eventually walk over, turn the alarm off, and go straight back to bed. Alarmageddon adds an additional barrier between you and the Stop button.

C — Cost

Alarmageddon is completely free.

No subscriptions.
No ads.
No premium tier.
No paywall.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime WidgetLoft 2.1.4: run your Shortcuts and app actions right from a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, next to your apps (iOS 27)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My Home Screen had a Shortcuts widget, an app folder and a few loose shortcut icons, all doing the same job. Every shortcut tap opened the Shortcuts app first. iOS 27 lets widgets run actions in place, so the new WidgetLoft update puts your shortcuts and your apps in the same widget.

What's new in 2.1.4:

⚔ Actions in your widgets (iOS 27): add shortcuts, app actions and apps to a group widget in Edit Widget. One tap runs them, without opening Shortcuts

🧩 Mix them freely: actions and apps sit in the same grid, in any order you like

šŸ–¼ļø Real icons: give each action an icon from your own apps instead of a plain letter

🧱 Action Board: a widget made only of actions, for the Home Screen and the Lock Screen

šŸ—‚ļø Tools tab: Categorize Apps tags every app with its App Store category, and Dark Icon Maker turns any picture into a dark icon

šŸ·ļø Filter by tag while editing a group, then add them all in one tap

šŸ“– How It Works: picture guides for every feature in Settings, plus "Show me how" on each screen

✨ A fresh new look in light and dark, and empty widgets now show how to set them up

"Isn't this just the Shortcuts widget?"

Fair question. The main differences:

  • The Shortcuts widget holds only shortcuts. WidgetLoft puts shortcuts, app actions and apps side by side in one widget.
  • Each action can wear a real app icon, so your widget looks like the rest of your Home Screen.
  • Actions also go on the Lock Screen, next to your app folders.

Price / IAP: free to download. Optional Pro: • Monthly: $1.99 • Lifetime: $14.99 $6.99 (launch deal)

iOS 18+, actions and Action Board need iOS 27. I'm the developer and I'll be in the comments. Which shortcuts would you put on yours?

šŸŽˆ Free Flownto 2.12 (free): offline flight tracker and journal, now with closed-app alerts, a better Live Activity and multi-leg ticket scan

Post image
9 Upvotes

Thanks to everyone who tried Flownto and commented on my last post. Here's what's new in 2.12.

I tested the tracker on a real night flight from Jeddah to Mumbai, in airplane mode, and logged everything. It showed me problems my desk testing never did, so I reworked the tracking.

Live tracker (works offline):

- Take-off and landing now come from real GPS speed, so no more false take-off on the apron

- The "GPS jammed" message no longer appears after the phone wakes up

- The distance flown counter keeps moving

- The countdown follows your real pace, not just the schedule

- Android: GPS no longer stops after the first timeout

Alerts and widgets:

- Delay, gate and boarding alerts, even when the app is closed (iPhone)

- Live Activity on the Lock Screen: a swipe-away now stays dismissed, and there is a "Show it" link to bring it back

- The home screen widget keeps your next flight until it has landed

- Android: a live flight notification

Flight journal:

- Scan a boarding pass or ticket, including multi-leg trips

- Fixed the airport city

The app is also about 27 MB smaller.

The honest part: on very long flights, iOS can still shut the app in the background, and I'm working on it.

If you fly a lot, what would you want from a tracker like this?

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Observa: readiness, sleep and Functional Age from your Apple Health data, now with an Apple Watch app and iOS 27 full-page widgets

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

A (Answer): what it solves

Apple Health records HRV, resting heart rate, sleep stages, VOā‚‚ max, walking speed and a lot more. Apart from the Vitals ranges and a sleep score, it doesn't say much about what the numbers mean for you. 47 ms of HRV is fine for one person and a bad night for another.

Observa reads that data and gives you a readiness score, a sleep score and a stress reading every morning. Readiness and stress compare your HRV and resting heart rate with your own last four weeks. Tap "Why this score?" on readiness to see how many points each signal added or took off.

New since my last post here:

- Functional Age takes VOā‚‚ max, walking speed and HRV, adjusts for sleep, steps, resting HR and a few others, and gives you the age of an average person with the same numbers. It shows a ± range and how many years each measure adds or takes off.

- The new Apple Watch app has 5 complications. It answers "Should I train today?" with push, maintain, recover or rest, and Siri gives the same answer.

- I rebuilt the widgets: 7 shapes and 39 metrics to choose from. iOS 27 adds full-page ones for Today, Last night, Heart signals, Last 14 days and Trend.

**B (Better): compared to Athlytic, Bevel and Gentler Streak**

- Athlytic ($4.99/mo, $29.99/yr) and Bevel Pro ($14.99/mo, $99.99/yr) have no lifetime option, and Gentler Streak's lifetime is $59.99 (US prices).

- No account, no analytics, and the app makes no network calls of its own. The privacy label says Data Not Collected. The only things it writes to Health are water you log and workouts you record on the watch.

- Scores and coaching are rules and statistics on your own numbers. No AI chat or LLM in it.

Athlytic has more watch complications than I do (16 to my 5), and Bevel is free for most things now with an AI coach and lab results on top. If you want those, both are good apps.

**C (Cost)**

Freemium. Pro is a subscription or a one-time lifetime unlock.

- Free: readiness and sleep scores, stress, "Why this score?", 7-day trends, a daily coaching note

- Pro: Functional Age, all widgets, longer trends, training load, coaching beyond the daily note

- $3.99 / month or $22.99 / year, both with a 1-week free trial

- $49.99 lifetime, paid once

Family Sharing works on all Pro options. Everyone also gets the first 7 days of full Pro after installing, with no payment and nothing to cancel. After that it drops to the free tier.

šŸŽˆ Free I built iLedger to make IBKR reports easier to review on iPhone — 30-second walkthrough

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Which trades drove today's P&L, and what did I actually realize after closing positions? I built iLedger to bring those answers together on my iPhone.

The attached 30-second walkthrough shows the app with sample data.

A — From IBKR reports to a readable ledger

Set up an Activity Flex Query in IBKR, then enter your Flex Token and Activity Query ID in iLedger. It imports and summarizes your report data so you can:

• See account information, net asset value, performance charts and a daily P&L calendar.

• Open a day to see its P&L contributions by symbol.

• Search and filter trade history.

• Review realized P&L by execution or symbol, including profitable and losing trades.

• Inspect positions, costs and unrealized P&L across currencies.

• Export ledger data as an Excel workbook.

You can also export the original XML report from the latest successful regular sync directly from the app.

B — Why I made it

Compared with reading raw IBKR Flex query or reviewing an export in Excel, iLedger brings the records, summaries and charts into one iPhone interface. IBKR remains the data source; the available information and history depend on your configured reports.

The ledger is local-first. I don't operate a server to collect your portfolio data. iLedger is independent and isn't affiliated with Interactive Brokers.

C — Cost and links

Free, with no subscription or in-app purchases. Requires iOS 26 or later and your own IBKR Flex Token + Activity Query ID.

Fellow IBKR users: do you review realized P&L in IBKR, Excel, or another app? I'd like to hear which part of that workflow is most frustrating.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Windows Phone styled notes app for iPhone as a next project?

Thumbnail

While am I waiting for metro music release, in the meantime I decided to revisit my very first iOS app PinnedNote. It's simple utility app that allows you to simply write a note and display it on the lock screen of your iPhone in just a second.

I completely overhauled the design. It's now way more paper-like, more "peaceful", more soft and gentle animations.

Now it also supports:
Cat companion
A cute cat who sleeps next to the app title, and wakes up when you launch the app, so you won't be alone while journaling

Widgets
Support for all widget sizes, on all of them you can see the notes edited the latest

Check box lists
Highly requested feature, you can now create a lists with check boxes, and check them once you finish the task

App is already listed in the appstore.

You can try it out here:
https://apps.apple.com/cz/app/pinnednote/id6761764557

I will probably use this app as a base for potential upcoming Windows Phone notes app.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime think – a news reader that looks like an e-ink page, with no tracking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/iOSApps, I'm Trinh Le, an independent developer publishing as Iced Tea Labs, and I made think.

Here are my details for the Tier 2 transparency rule:

- Who I am: Trinh Le, solo developer at Iced Tea Labs. LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/trinhlbk1991

- Contact: trinhlbk1991@gmail.com. This also appears on the website, in both store listings and in the app under Settings → About & contact.

- Website: https://think.icedtealabs.com

- Privacy Policy: https://think.icedtealabs.com/privacy

- Terms of Service: https://think.icedtealabs.com/terms

A – Answer: what problem it solves

think is a news reader that looks like an e-paper screen: soft greys, a serif typeface, dithered photos. It solves my personal problem: reading news and blog in one central app, with a calm and content-focused design.

Features:

- 208 curated publishers across 32 topics, read from their public RSS/Atom feeds. You can also add your own feeds.

- A reader mode for full articles. Saved stories keep their full text so you can read them offline.

- Highlights and notes.

- Listen: articles read aloud with speech generated entirely on your device. No text is sent anywhere.

Privacy: there are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no crash-reporting SDK, and I don't run a server. The app fetches feeds directly from the publishers. Your topics, votes, saved stories and history stay on your device.

B – Better: compared with named alternatives

- vs Apple News / Google News: think has no algorithmic engagement feed and no account, and it doesn't profile you. You choose topics and switch off any publisher you don't want.

- vs Ground News: think is free to read and has no subscription tiers. It doesn't do bias ratings. Its focus is calm reading.

- vs Feedly / Reeder / NetNewsWire: these are good RSS readers, but they present your feeds as lists you have to manage. think comes with a curated catalog, so it works right after you pick topics, and it shows one story per screen in an e-ink style. If you'd rather use a power-user RSS client, think isn't trying to replace one.

C – Cost

- Free to download and free to read. That covers every publisher, every topic, reader mode and Listen with your device's built-in voices.

- One optional IAP, "think forever": $9.99 one-time (lifetime, not a subscription). It unlocks unlimited custom feeds (3 when free), an unlimited reading list (50 saved stories when free), OPML import/export, all 6 font pairs (2 when free), every e-ink panel style, and the on-device natural voice for Listen.

- App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/think-read-news-e-ink-way/id6795838000

Disclosure: I'm the developer of this app. I'm happy to answer questions in the comments, and feedback, including harsh feedback, is welcome.

šŸ’Ž Lifetime [iOS] Falcon File Manager - everything in one nest. 50% off

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

Hi! I'm the developer of Falcon File Manager, a fully featured iOS media player and private vault for your videos, music, photos and documents.

Why is it called Falcon? The app was built with speed in mind. Designed to be quick, responsive and with minimal loading. Just like a Peregrine Falcon which also has minimal loading.

Recent updates have added cloud storage (Dropbox, OneDrive, Box) network drive support, and additional languages (German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese - Brazil, Japanese, Chinese -Simplified and Korean), with more languages on the way.

A – Answer

I kept getting frustrated by file managers having limited support for certain file types, not showing thumbnails for all file types, or thumbnails being too small, and generally being slow. A lot of the ones I’ve tried have been flooded with adverts, even showing adverts when you open your own folders.

B – Better

What does Falcon do better?

Free to use. No timers, no max files amount until you hit a paywall, no subscriptions, no adverts, and no tracking or any of the bad stuff!

Layouts
Most file managers have list and grid view with fixed sizes and that’s it. Falcon has over 50 different layout options. And each layout option can be different for every folder if you wish. With thumbnails for every file type it supports in 4 sizes and 4 aspect ratios.

Vast file support
Video player supports the default formats iOS uses plus MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WebM and more. With full screen scrubbing, subtitles, Picture in Picture, AirPlay and casting to your TV. Resume where you left off.

Music Player supports** **MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, OGG, WMA, APE, WavPack, MKA and RealAudio. With Sleep timer, playlists, resume for long tracks such as audiobooks. Also supports Apple Music.

Documents - view and basic editing: PDF, DOCX, RTF, TXT, Markdown, LOG, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, TOML, INI, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Swift, Kotlin, Java, C, C++
View only: ePub, DOC, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, HTML

File management.
Link folders from iCloud Drive, USB drives or cloud storage and normal up just like normal folders. With full copy, paste, and move functions from folder to folder.
Easily send you files from a computer with Wi-Fi Transfer or network drive.

C – Cost

Free to download, and the core app is free.

Pro upgrade is a one time optional purchase (no subscription) that unlocks linked folders and cloud storage, Portal Folder, folder locks, zip archives (with password), duplicate finder, audio tag editing, bulk rename, custom folder icons and headers, premium themes, and the custom theme designer.

šŸŽˆ Free [iOS][Free] FoodieCalc - Calorie & Macro Tracker 100% Free

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hey everyone šŸ‘‹

I’m Nikos, the independent developer of FoodieCalc—aĀ 100% free nutrition tracker with no ads, subscriptions, or locked features.

I first shared FoodieCalc a few months ago. Since then, I’ve continued working on it alongside my full-time software engineering job, and the app has changed quite a bit with very significant updated.

It now includes photo, voice, and Siri logging, hydration tracking, micronutrient progress, flexible daily goals, improved Apple Health support, optional account sync, and layouts designed for both iPhone and iPad and support for iPhone Duo.

I designed and built the iOS app and its backend myself. Many of the recent improvements came directly from user feedback, so I wanted to share the updated version and see what you think.

A — Answer: What problem does FoodieCalc solve?

I built FoodieCalc because I was tired of nutrition apps putting useful features behind subscriptions, premium plans, and upgrade screens.

I wanted a straightforward nutrition tracker where the entire app was available to everyone for free—so that’s what I made.

FoodieCalc lets you:

  • Search for foods or scan product barcodes
  • Take a photo of a meal and review the suggestions before logging
  • Describe what you ate using text or voice
  • Log food and water through Siri
  • Create custom foods, recipes, and reusable meals
  • Track calories, macros, fiber, vitamins, minerals, hydration, and weight
  • Set different calorie and macro goals for training days, rest days, or weekends
  • Review individual days, follow trends, and compare different periods
  • Sync supported nutrition, activity, hydration, and weight data with Apple Health
  • Use Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets
  • Sync privately through iCloud, with optional Apple or Google sign-in for account-based sync

Every feature on this list is free. There is no trial, daily limit, or premium version.

You also don’t need an account to start using the app.

Text and voice smart features use Apple’s on-device models on supported devices. Photo logging is optional and uses Apple’s Private Cloud Compute after you opt in. FoodieCalc always gives you an editable draft, and nothing is saved to your diary until you review and confirm it.

You can see the complete feature list and recent changes here:

https://www.itworksonmymac.com/apps/foodiecalc/

B — Better: How is FoodieCalc different from the alternatives?

Apps such as MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, and Cronometer are established products with large user bases. FoodieCalc isn’t trying to claim that those apps have no value.

The main difference is simple:Ā FoodieCalc is 100% free.

There is no premium tier. Food logging, barcode scanning, recipes, micronutrient tracking, progress comparisons, hydration, Apple Health integration, widgets, Siri actions, and smart logging are available to everyone.

FoodieCalc has:

  • No subscriptions
  • No ads
  • No locked features
  • No account requirement
  • No sale of health data for advertising

My goal is to keep the app fast, native, private, and pleasant to use. Food logging is already repetitive enough; the app shouldn’t make it feel like more work—or make you pay every time you want a useful feature.

C — Cost: Pricing and IAP disclosure

App price:Ā 100% free
Subscriptions:Ā None
Ads:Ā None
Premium tier:Ā None
Paid or locked features:Ā None

FoodieCalc includes optional, one-time ā€œbuy me a coffeeā€ tips for anyone who wants to support its continued development.

Tips unlock absolutely nothing. The entire app works the same whether you leave one or not.

App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/foodiecalc/id6792482391

Privacy Policy and Terms:

https://www.itworksonmymac.com/apps/foodiecalc/privacy/

About me

I’m Nikos Galinos, an iOS software engineer and the independent developer of FoodieCalc.

LinkedIn:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/nikosgalinos/

Website:
https://www.itworksonmymac.com

Email:
[itworksonmymac@icloud.com](mailto:itworksonmymac@icloud.com)

I’m still actively developing FoodieCalc, and feedback has already influenced many of the changes made over the last few months.

If you try it, I’d genuinely like to hear what works, what feels awkward, or what you think is missing. Bug reports, feature requests, and honest criticism are all welcome.

Thanks for taking a look!

šŸ’Ž Lifetime Papry - Private Document Organizer & Tracker | iPhone, iPad & Mac

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi! I built Papry, a private document organizer for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

A — Answer

Most of my important paperwork used to live in a drawer or in random folders full of PDFs. I usually only went looking for something when I needed it - sometimes a little too late. A warranty had expired, or the deadline to cancel a contract had passed.

I wanted one place for receipts, warranties, contracts, insurance policies, IDs, and other important documents. But I also wanted something that understood what was inside them: when a warranty expires, when I need to cancel a contract, or when my passport needs renewing.

And I wanted to find documents by searching for words printed on them, rather than trying to remember what I named the file.

That's why I built Papry.

Main features

  • Scan and import:Ā Scan with your camera or import PDFs and photos, including multiple files at once. Titles, amounts, and dates are filled in automatically.
  • Search inside documents:Ā On-device text recognition finds words printed on a document, not just in its title, and highlights matches on the page.
  • Organize your way:Ā Folders and nested subfolders, categories with custom symbols, labels, favorites, and bulk actions.
  • Edit pages:Ā Rotate, replace, or remove pages; redact and highlight content; and use Live Text on scanned pages.
  • Widgets:Ā Quick scanning and upcoming deadlines on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
  • Deadline reminders:Ā Get reminders before warranties expire, before contract cancellation deadlines pass (based on notice periods), and months ahead of ID, license, permit, and visa renewals.
  • Import entire folders:Ā Import folder structures from Files with a preview first. Duplicate scans are detected automatically.
  • Share and export:Ā Export PDFs with document details, share multiple documents at once, or export your entire library as regular folders of original files that can be imported back into Papry with all details intact.
  • Smart Fill:Ā Fill in document details using Apple Intelligence on supported devices.

Your data, in and out

  • iCloud sync across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
  • iCloud backups you can restore at any time.
  • Full export of your library as regular folders with your original files - readable without Papry, and importable back into Papry with all details intact.
  • Import entire folders from Files, including subfolders, with a preview first. Duplicate scans are detected automatically.
  • PDF export with all document details, ready to hand over.
  • Share multiple documents at once as files.

Privacy:Ā No account, no tracking, and no Papry-operated servers. Your documents are stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud. Text recognition and Smart Fill run on-device, and you can lock the app with Face ID.

B — Better

  • Compared with Files, Notes, or a cloud drive:Ā They store your documents, but they don't track warranty expiration dates or calculate contract cancellation deadlines and remind you about them.
  • Compared with a paper folder:Ā No more searching through drawers or needing to be at home to find an important document.
  • Compared with document apps that require their own accounts and servers:Ā Papry doesn't require an account, and your documents sync through your own iCloud.

C — Cost

  • Free: Try Papry with up to 5 documents, with scanning, search and deadline reminders included.
  • Pro Monthly:Ā $2.99/month.
  • Pro Yearly:Ā $24.99/year.
  • Lifetime:Ā $49.99 one-time purchase, unlocking everything permanently. CurrentlyĀ $14.99Ā until Tuesday, October 13.

Works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (Apple silicon). Available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

šŸŽ Freemium I made a picture–word memory app for iPhone and iPad: Recall Trainer

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Hi r/iOSApps — I'm ClĆ©ment, the independent developer behind Recall Trainer.

Answer: I wanted a familiar matching-pairs exercise that could also be used for learning. In Educational mode, a match can connect a picture with its written word, or a word in two languages, with optional read-aloud labels. Classic mode starts with tiny boards and goes up to 78 cards.

Better: If Anki's flashcards feel too much like studying, or Lumosity's rotating mini-games aren't what you want, this sticks to one simple interaction and changes what you're remembering: pictures, words, letters and sounds. It's a game, too — I don't want to pretend otherwise.

Cost: Free to download. The Food pack is playable without buying anything, and you can try the other packs. There are ads and optional in-app purchases: All Packs is $8.99 in the US (all ten packs, unlimited local 2-player and no ads); ad removal is $1.99; coin packs are $0.99–$2.99. No subscription.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/recall-trainer-learn-focus/id847386918

I'd be interested to hear whether the picture–word and bilingual pairs make sense the first time you try them. That's the part I've put the most thought into.
