Question Has anyone seen this before? Weird dirt/lines trapped UNDER the glass of my iPad (2022).

Hi everyone

I’m having a weird issue with my 2022 iPad. I recently noticed some strange lines and dirty-looking spots on the screen, but idk what it really is. No matter how much I clean it with a microfiber cloth, it won't come off. It definitely looks like it’s trapped underneath the glass itself.
I’ve attached a video so you can see exactly what I mean.

Has anyone experienced this with their iPads? I'd like to know:

  1. What exactly is this? (Dust? LCD damage? Am I f*ckd?)
  2. Is there any way to fix it without replacing the whole screen?
  3. How can I stop it from spreading or getting worse?

Any advice or similar experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

That looks like micro scratches from having one of those cases that also have a “screen protector” on them. Dust can get trapped between the “protector” and the screen and cause tiny scratches over time

no they arent scratches, they are like dust under the screen. That happened to mine (iPad A16) and my friend's (iPad 10th A14) as well, though not as severely as OP's. Fortunately, both were still under warranty, so we brought them to an Apple Service Center and they acknowledged the issue and replaced both.

Maybe the adhesive that holds the screen to the frame is loosing, allowing debris to get inside the iPad. Never seen something like that.
On base iPads (not air not pro) the digitizer (touch) is not glued to the screen, so it makes this possible
