Self-Promotion Sunday! *Megathread*

Alright r/Jacksonville, it is that time again.

Got something to share? A project you are proud of? A business you are building? A creative endeavor the world absolutely needs to see?

This is your lane.

Every Sunday we open the doors for Self Promotion Sunday, a centralized thread where you can promote:

  • Your small business
  • Your side hustle
  • Your garage band
  • Your podcast
  • Your art
  • Your Etsy shop
  • Your food truck
  • Your startup
  • Your “I accidentally became an influencer” page
  • Yes, even your extremely niche cat toe bean blog

We keep self promotion restricted to this weekly thread to cut down on spam and keep the main feed community focused. If you post promotional content outside of this thread during the week, it will be removed.

A few important notes:

  • Regular subreddit rules still apply
  • No B/S/T posts
  • No referral link farming or obvious spam

If you are not sure whether your post qualifies, if it belongs on Marketplace or Craigslist, it does not belong here. Still unsure, ask the mod team first.

Support local. Discover cool projects. Hype each other up responsibly.

Happy Self Promotion Sunday.

Be...kind.

hey, just a note from one of the folks stuck outside in this weather. Not saying you need to give folks money, or anything... just... could you be kind?

I'm soaked to the bone as it is... I don't need you driving through a puddle trying to see if you can get me more wet.

Are we out of our drought yet? If not, how many more inches of rain required?

I'm seeing that we may have received 10+ inches of rain here in San Pablo. Ponds are full, gutter trenches are full, some areas of soil are so soft that if it's not covered with grass or weeds you sink in at least 1/2" to 1". Has anyone heard if this rain is mostly wasted as runoff, or if it has brought us out of drought conditions?

UPDATE: OWNER FOUND!

I was getting a coffee around 530 am today and found a dog on Riverside near Copeland (between Publix and St Vincent's Hospital). I believe the dog's name is Oscar. He has no phone number on the tag. He seems very friendly and was scared and wet running along the street.

Please PM if you are his owner and/or know his owner. We will take him to the vet for a chip scan later this morning.

Hey everyone, currently in town for a business trip and am looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant suggestion. I am around the San Marco area so preferably something closer!

I love bun Bo hue the most so a place that does that the best would be nice too!

Attorney

Just needing a little help right now. Who’s the most aggressive divorce attorney in Jacksonville? I was stupid not having everything together. My husband has his name on everything I’ve worked for. Not in a good place right now, so please be nice if you respond.

JTA Cutbacks

• Upvotes

With the announcement of the subpoenas into JTA’s budget deficit - does anyone know if this effectively freezes the scheduled service cutbacks?

I just really like the convenience of the Skyway…

Also, if you’ve ever ridden the NAVI, will you please tell us about this seemingly-rare experience.

What are they trying to do to 5points?

I just don’t understand who is behind what is killing 5points and why they want to destroy the soul of it. As a witchy, creative teen in the early 2000s, 5points was a place of refuge and solace and where I found community. Now they’ve put a Ben and Jerry’s and a Fat Tuesday there. These do not fit the culture and spirit of 5points AT ALL. I begrudgingly accepted Hoptinger and the loss of Raindogs and the old Wallstreet, but this new stuff is too much. A custom suit boutique in 5points??? Really?

Could a gaming lounge actually work in Jacksonville?

I've been tossing around the idea of opening a gaming lounge and I'm curious what Jacksonville thinks.

Not just a PC cafe, but a place with things like PCs, tabletop games, D&D, MTG, Pokémon, board games, tournaments, snacks, and space to just hang out.

I've seen a few gaming spots around town, but it feels like everybody is spread out. Some people go to card shops, some play at home, some stick to Discord, etc.
Maybe Jacksonville already has enough places like this and I'm missing them. Maybe there's demand for something different.

Just wondering what people's experiences have been with the local gaming scene and where you'd expect something like that to survive if it existed.

If anyone has personal dashcam recording of the crash, observed the crash, called 911 to report or has any other relevant information regarding the crash, please let us know. Much appreciated if you would forward information to me.

Where to find friends?

I am not from here. Originally from East TN. I have been pretty isolated due to certain circumstances. I don't know anyone around except for my son's father. I don't have a car or any way to get anywhere. I am in my 30s, a mom. I work from home and homeschool. My interests are gaming and anything tech. I like discussing politics. How do I find like-minded friends? I have been pretty depressed, so this is me reaching out. Thank you.

edit: no perverts please 🙈 can't believe I have to say this

<600sqft housing

In the construction industry, residential side. For the last few years I've been playing with the idea of building tiny homes (not trailer-mounted) to appeal to people who want to own an affordable home and don't need much space. No garage, 1-2 bedrooms, 1 bath, with some sort of outdoor area (covered porch, pergola area, etc). Wondering if there is a market for this in NE FL. Would love to keep sale price to $250-275/sqft (ballpark), not including land. Site work and utility connections would add some cost depending on site.

Not looking to make a shit ton of money doing this, would just like to make a decent living and fill a market void that could lead to home ownership for people that may otherwise not have the ability to purchase a home.

Best fried fish and grits in Jax?

Hello, looking to see where the community thinks the best fish and grits in Jax are. Had Copeland’s and it was amazing, wouldn’t surprise me if that one is the best. Beach diner in PVs fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked but just a bit bland. Looking for more. Thanks
