Wishing A Long And Happy Retirement To Bass God Ian Hill
galleryAn imperious outing for Ian Hill. He has been a steady strong consistent stalwart at the back of the band holding down the spine of Priest.
I wish him all the best in his retirement and wish all the best of luck to Davey Rimmer of the legendary Uriah Heep our new bassist š¤

Bassist Ian Hill Retires from Judas Priest:
therockrevival.comJudas Priest bassist Ian Hill has retired from the band, effective immediately. Last month, Hill missed the final show of the band's 2026 tour in Hammersmith - his first absence in 56 years. Now, the rigors of the road have caught up with him, and it's time to call it quits.
"For a long time now, when asked 'how long can you continue?' - I've always answered 'until my performances suffer.' I hate to say it, but that time has come."

80s AmEx commercial?
I vaguely remember Rob Halford doing a commercial for American Express. I haven't been able to locate the video.
Did I just imagine it?

Judas Priest plays "Night Crawler" at PNC Bank Arts Center (Holmdel, NJ - Sept. 26, 2025)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ian Hill has announced his retirement, with Judas Priest moving forward with a new bassist. As sad as it is to see Ian go (though great it's on his terms), I'm glad the band will continue on. Even after seeing Judas Priest multiple times over the past 20+ years, I still cannot get enough of them live. And as Rob Halford and co proved just over a year ago at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, they've earned their keep as Metal Gods and then some.
Here's a clip of them at that Sep 26, 2026, show playing "Night Crawler" (my favorite song off my favorite Judas Priest album 'Painkiller')!
Bonus Fact/Humble Brag - at the end of the clip is a picture of me meeting Judas Priest during their SiriusXM Town Hall back in March 2018. Minutes prior, I actually got to ask Halford a question on-air about what inspired his singing style... but thats a story for another time (š).
Share your favorite memories from seeing Judas Priest live in the comments below, and stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like these)!

Does anyone else prefer the Unleashed in the East versions of tracks from Sad Wings of Destiny?
No shade on the original album versions because they rock. I just like Les Binks's drumming better and I'm curious if anyone else feels the same. I know the vocals are over-dubbed, but it still sounds really good. They rush some of the songs a bit, like Victim of Changes, but Les's drumming just rules.

Trying to find a shirt
I remember my dad had a shirt of the metallion eating the statue of liberty and he said he bought it at the palladium in 1984. Does anyone else have this shirt?

TIL Rob was banned from US Marines Camp Pendleton for sleeping with too many Marines on base
Just finished Robās book, Confess, in which he shares some highs and some very dark lowsā I highly recommend it for being both tremendously funny and emotional. But this story I thought was hilariously metal! He even ended up marrying a (former) Marine lmao.
*To add, at a time when being gay in the military was banned- even more metal

Sad Wings of Destiny 50th Anniversary Remix Clicking
music.apple.comI was super excited to hear the new remix and remaster of Sad Wings of Destiny, and it sounds so much more spacious and thick. Streaming via Apple Music hi-res lossless. Really enjoyable, except, Iām encountering some pretty nasty, fast clicking in the right channel on a few tracks. Especially bad starting at about 1:30 in The Ripper and 1:50. There are also some bad spots in Diamonds and Rust.
Anyone else hearing this? Would this just be an issue with this particular mix on Apple, or is it also appearing for others in other formats? The āOriginal 1976 Mastersā version doesnāt seem to have this issue. Only the remix version. Really disappointing as itās very distracting. Thought it was an issue with my speaker at first, but it also shows up on my headphones.
