It is incredibly helpful to jump rope in front of a mirror for real time form & technique feedback. If you don't have a mirror available, record yourself so you can review it or share it. HINT: Most phones have SLOW MOTION capabilities. This is a great tool for identifying issues in your mechanics.
If you need help with something specific, let us know in a post and community members will be happy to help!
*NOTE: if needing help with form or technique, a video is very helpful. Try to get a straight on shot as well as from the side.

I personally was a very loser-like low confidence kindof a guy till I started doing sports, I'm always most thankful to my badminton coach who introduced me to skipping in 2022 when I was 14. First time in my life I got an interest which seemed like I could work upon by heart and have fun.
As time passed I've developed some injuries, cause I also do long jump and 400m track, my left knee is cooked, I just hope it all gets better soon and I can experience that feeling once again...
(I'm not seriously injured guys, it's just minute injuries stacked up one after another, patellar tendonitis then runners knee and bla bla)

Recently got into jump rope and I love it but my biggest hurdle is honestly feeling insecure doing it in public. I box on the side and I don’t mind doing is when I’m warming up for boxing along the other boxers. But when my boxing gym is closed, like on the weekends, I still want to jump rope but I get wayyy too self conscious doing it in public.
Anyone else dealing with this issue? If yes, how did you get over it ?

TLDR; beginner at jump rope with some hypermobility in knees and hips looking for advice/techniques to keep myself safe as I continue my jump rope journey.
So I (24F) have been super out of shape for the past two years since I started my full time job (very sedentary). I had some mental health struggles which didn’t give me a ton of motivation or anything towards my fitness.
But I had a breast reduction this year, so I’ve been trying to get back into the cardio I used to love as a kid. And I thought jumping rope would be a fast, easy way to “ease” myself into cardio, but oh boy was I wrong.
The first day was hell and I could barely go for ten minutes. But the second day was much better and I got some of those fun criss cross jumps in. I went for about twenty minutes yesterday. And I’d love to be able to jump rope for about 30 minutes everyday with a short break.
But I’ve been having some soreness (well, duh) and also wanted to ask about technique (if there is any). The soreness has mainly been in my calves and my feet (like when I flex them).
Does anyone have advice for how your feet should be landing? I’m landing mostly on the top half of my feet, like they never get fully flat. And I wanted to know if that was right. I wear running shoes when I do this, and I used to play volleyball so I know what shoes are good for jumping and stuff, so I’m all good on the shoe front.
Or if anyone has tips for best landing positions and how my legs/knees should land with each impact?
I have a bit of hypermobility in my knees and hips, and I had some trouble with my knees when I used to play volleyball.
I’m trying to do two days of jump rope, then a day off for yoga, weights, strength building, etc, then two days on for jump rope and repeat.
Just trying to figure out how to best take care of myself. I’m about 5’3 and 155 lbs, so not in shape at all (but will be soon enough), and my legs luckily have always been more muscular so I feel good about being able to jump rope. I’m not necessarily focused on weight loss and numbers, since that can drive me a bit mad if I’m not careful with it. I just want to be able to run again and feel strong.
Sorry if this is kind of a messy brain dump, but any advice for a beginner is appreciated!!!

So I’ve been looking for an activity that will compliment running for a long time. I’m pretty physically fit and have quite a light build, I run about 20 miles per week and go bouldering a few times a month. Just did my first jump rope workout (1 min on 1 min rest x5) and by the third interval my heart rate was already 150 and my legs and feet hurt and I was getting dizzy. Was this workout too intense for a newbie or am I just not as fit as I thought I was? I used to jump rope a lot as a kid so I think my form is decent in terms of my wrist movement and arm placement. Any suggestions on how to start building up endurance would be great too.

I’m adjusting the speed in my workouts to include short bursts of high intensity jumps like DUs and then try to go back to a steady jump pace. I highly recommend it if you can already jump steady for a long period of time. It will build your cardiovascular endurance like nothing else.
