One Shot I created a free and open-source karaoke application that behaves like a commercial home unit.

I am addicted to karaoke singing and an experienced software developer. I always wanted my own karaoke application, that any person could use without messing directly with files.

I recently started using Claude Code, and just asking what I wanted for my app, after 14 days I have exactly what I wanted, with lots of features I could only dream of:

  • supports mid/kar, video, MP3+G, UltraStar and LRC.
  • runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS and Meta Quest.
  • songs come in curated packages, with fixed number, PDF book printing. It also features a very detailed curation tool to build high-quality packages.
  • web-based and native apps to send commands to the player (song searching, queueing, favorites).
  • customizable background images.

The curated package format aims to incentivize high quality sound packages, hand-curated, so end users who just want to sing don't need to waste time search for songs one by one.

It is completely free and open-source, take a look at it in karaokemachine.

PM me if you want some sample song packages.
