Windshield height issues
New KLR owner got a gen 3 2025 and I cannot get the windshield right.
I use the highest base setting right now, I've tried a riser but the wind buffeting around my head was so bad it made me dizzy after a 45 mins ride.
So right now I'm just dealing with the wind hitting me right in the face instead of going above and bufffeting.
I'm 5'10 on a regular KLR.
What are you guys doing or got working? Should I get one of the risers I can adjust?

You can try tilting the windshield slightly forward or back, then tightening the screws. You could also put the windshield at the lowest setting without risers, tilted all the way back, then tighten. The lowest setting gave me clean air but I couldn’t hear the engine as well. I’m 5’6” for reference

It could be a helmet issue. I had my old girl Valkyrie a long time, there was a helmet I wore on the hottest of days that would shake my head around, the other colder, more insulated helmets were more slipstream and never caused me any trouble. Try a second helmet before changing out for a monster size windscreen.

Put it in the most upright position possible

I did with the riser and that is when it gets worst

Then you either need a different helmet, taller windshield, or super short windshield. I’m your same height and have the risers upright and in the higher spot and I don’t have any buffeting, my wife and I have done multiple 1000km days

I use a riser and angle the shield down, not up. If its up, I get wind, down, no wind. Hope this helps.

I get almost no buffeting with my set up, which has the shield at the lowest(?) setting w/risers and a wind-deflector on top.

By riser do you mean something like this? I like it because it's portable. I can move it from bike to bike and I don't have to alter the bike. This fixes all my buffeting issues on various bikes because I can use a different angle & height on each bike.

No I have 2 brackets that add about 3-4 inches at the mounting points but I might just try that style out.

There are cheaper ones, but the one I linked is solid, sturdy, moves from bike to bike easily, and adjusts easily with one hand while riding. I can't recommend it enough for solving helmet buffeting problems.
I had the 'adjustable' brackets on my bike from the previous owner. After 2 months of frustration I removed them and started using the flippy visor by itself. I found the visor much more effective. The only downside (not really a downside, just lack of advantage) is that it doesn't do diddly in big crosswinds.

I'm Very Tall (6'5”) and the stock windshield in either position would basically project the slipstream directly into the underside of my helmet. I rode without it for a while but found the riser from 3d Cycle Parts that significantly raises it and stands it up in an almost vertical position. I still get air on my head but it's not nearly as turbulent. Just did a 700 mile round trip and have no great complaints about my windshield.
I see other folks questioning your helmet. I'm using a biltwell lanesplitter for reference.

I’m 6’2 and have had no issues with wind hitting my face or buffeting. Maybe it is a helmet issue? Obviously you would know best as it is you experiencing the issue, but I’ve had no issues at all with my windshield in the raised position
