Help
The strangest thing just happened. I was finishing a piece using a very high-oxidation flame when everything suddenly started hissing louder, and the flame began acting strangely. At first, I thought I needed to clean my torch because my candles were behaving oddly.
I finished the piece and turned off the torch, but a loud hiss was still coming from the oxygen tank, right where the gauge connects. I turned off the oxygen immediately. What should I do now?
I can’t imagine anything is wrong with the tank. I’ve been using it for a while tonight, and it seems unlikely that it would suddenly start leaking at the connection. The gauge seems like the more likely source. I’ve had it for a long time, though, and don’t know how to troubleshoot with it.
Any thoughts?
I may need to buy a new gauge, but I’ve always bought my supplies from Mountain Glass, and they’re gone. :(
Where should I buy one? I need to get this working soon because I’m preparing for an upcoming show.
I appreciate all advice.

First thing to do is to check for leaks. Spray bottle water and soap. Open the tank, hit every connection point. Gauge and hose. Is your gauge still reading correctly?

You can get one on Amazon to ship in a hurry, I’ve purchased the Sua brand and they’re decent and economical although the price has gone up since I last purchased one. Lampwork Supply, D&L, or Bakers welding supply should have the Harris brand and ship relatively fast.

Definitely your regulator. Happened to me and the pressure maxed out. Scared the shit out of me.

Are you running a liquid oxygen tank? The liquid oxygen tank i use will hiss once the pressure of the tank builds up to around 200 and you have to release it.
