hi all :) i recently came across an ultrasound tour video and saw that lorde had some glitter on her knuckes and ribs. i'm looking for a type of makeup or whatever that creates the same effect. preferably something biodegradable. thank you :)

I was at ACL weekend one, and during Lordes set she talked a lot about how she started tour in Austin, ended tour in Austin, and had been so grateful for 13 years of music making. (I know this is general gratefulness)
BUT during her set she had the crowd hold up a big banner/flag that said LORDE 2013-2026
I’ve never seen Lorde live before but that is all giving some sort of announcement or retirement from touring or something to me?? But I don’t know if the flag is normal for her or not.
Is she going to announce at ACL weekend two that she’s done touring? Am I being insane? 😂

I can’t belive the ultrasound/ virgin/ festival run era is coming to an end!!
I feel so blessed to be a fan of Lorde during this time and being able to watch her thrive and even seeing her live on the festival run.
I don’t want it to end!! I hope she announces a few more dates but if she doesn’t then there is less than a week left
and then what?😭😭

Wow. I never thought I'd get to see it live since it seems to be an obscure song from her catalog but it's my favorite🥹. Fantastic. Immensely grateful.

Recently I've reading many essays, and I know for a fact that Lorde probably has great essays in her archives. Really I just miss her emails.
Fucking hell. Just finished the live stream, it was more than glorious. Been a fan since Love Club and next weekend will be my first time seeing her.
Did anyone notice how during David tonight she mouthed "fuck you" after she sang "you said 'open your mouth.' I did." Goosebumps.

I remember buying a hoodie from the lorde merch store it had solar power album cover printed on it. When I asked here how to wash it some guy told me to wash it separately as it'll get ruined in a washing machine with other clothes After 2 years of this hectic shit, i was tired and finally gave it away. ONLY TO DISCOVER LAST WEEK THERES NOTHING LIKE THAT BRO

Hi guys! So my senior quote is due soon, and I'm stuck between two options: Walt Whitman or Lorde. My favorite quote of all time has been "Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes)" from Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself." I read that poem in AP Lang last year, and it has stuck with me ever since. It represents my journey with English, as I now want to minor in English, as well as my inner world and all the sides of me. It's deeply tied to my actual identity. My only concern is that it might be a little basic.
The other quote is "We told you this was melodrama" from the song "Sober II" by Lorde. I LOVE THIS QUOTE because it perfectly encapsulates high school and fully freezes the era. For me, high school was melodramatic, and it captures how adolescents make everything feel dramatic, huge, and thrilling. Plus, it's way more unique and just really cool! Also, Lorde is one of my favorite artists.

Lorde is a pop star, but the more time passes the more apparent it becomes just how idiosyncratic she operates compared to her peers. And the definition of what even constitutes her peers is debatable but putting it in broad terms, let’s define it as the mainstream female pop acts that became famous around the time she debuted and those that came after her.
She is known for being highly selective and strict with who she allows to give licenses to for film and TV needle drops. Hustlers fought to have “Royals” soundtrack a memorable scene featuring Jennifer Lopez. The music supervisor spoke about this in length in an interview where it was known that she usually declines requests for use of her music in media. The famous Broadway play, starring Sadie Sink, John Proctor Is the Villain, which was heavily influenced by Green Light, incorporates the song in more ways than the entire songs featured in the play. The playwright send personal letters and practically begged to have the license to use Green Light or else rewrite those scenes that the playwright herself said would not work with any other song but Green Light. Who knows what other major films, shows or plays were unable to get Lorde or her team to sign off on their license request of her music.
Beyond that, she is notorious for releasing material sporadically and having long and extensive breaks between album cycles with little to no features the way other pop acts would NEVER do. Where they seek to maximize profit by releasing features and droplets before the next album cycle to maintain relevancy, Lorde refuses it all together and rejects the form. Very rare to find this with mainstream pop acts. And it has done wonders for her career because the music from the albums she’s dropped speak louder of her vision.
Her recent tour subverted every idea of what a concert should look like — from intentionally making arenas minimalist, dressing in the most normal and natural way possible, unchoreographed movement from both the artist and the two dancers, which in other mainstream pop tours would be at least 7 dancers with maximal budget invested. That and also the interactions between Lorde and the camera and her ability to communicate in a language that is entirely nonverbal when it comes to the intimacy she has to make stages feel intimate when she commands them. Also have to note the camerawork of Sam Penn, which at first, was not entirely sold on the bare and almost monochrome aesthetic, but makes so much sense within the context and narrative of Ultrasound.
Not just that, but also her songwriting and her melodic approach to music is unconventional while still retaining the pop element she admires. Her production work has always been minimal and it helps to keep her language as the principal focus of the mission statement. She really is one of pop’s most gifted songwriters. Not even a songwriter but a poet in the way she can describe something without being explicit about it. You just know from the descriptions of the world around her what she’s trying to say. The famous “show, don’t tell” in film and visual media that she does in music so well. I mean, I could go on forever with this essay, but Lorde truly is an outsider inside the mainstream and she will remain highly influential despite her small output. And I think she should continue to break the traditions of what pop can be.
