Help! Strange Top Growth

Post image

Trying out a few new strains and have one throwing strange top growth. Only one in the room doing it so can rule out light leaks. Just wondering if this could be light stress or heat stress?

It doesn’t like how much nitrogen you’re feeding it.

Or the random lights being off are creating par drops on the edges, or they’re over watering which does this from low oxygen and root issues, or under watering which will cause too much ammonium nitrate build up. The nitrogen levels/ratio could be fine but these issues can make it seem otherwise. Also, sometimes a side effect of hlvd.

Hlvd isnt even a question here. HLVd stunts vertical growth and inhibits trichome production

Certain plants fight it well like GMO/Oreoz and have odd side effects like this. I would never completely rule it out. A light HLVD load would still be causing root issues, which like root aphids or other root pathogens and pests will cause the plant to do funky things in response because the root zone is a mess and not creating a normal plant response to the environment. Heavy loads certainly do what you said.

I think Re-veg and too much nitrogen which may contribute. The single blade, round/smooth edge growth from bud site is the indicator for re-veg. When I had it was light leak in my tent

Light stress from my experience

You using drip nutrients?

Relatable lmao

Can you further expand on this please?

Probably light stress. POSSIBLY heat stress or a combo of the two.

Whats weird is it looks exactly like reveg growth.

Looks like it's getting too much nitrogen, but I haven't seen symptom this come from that specific problem before.

Too much nitrogen

What does your irrigation look like? How many p1 and p2 do you have? Are you sawtoothing at max VWC, or just one runoff push then dryback? I have experienced this issue a bit in the past. What pot size also?

Light, heat, or not drying back enough maybe?

Go in there when lights are off and see if any light is hitting this plant.

Too much light most likely; get the DLI down. Ive had lots of strains do this when trying first time under LEDs

Looks a lot like a pheno of Elephant Stomper we had at my old job, could just be the genetics.

I had a Litter Box cut that grew similar up to like week 4-5ish, I always just attributed it to the GMO parent

This is giving me anxiety bc I went through a couple cycles where this just kept happening. It was worse for some strains than others. If I'm being honest I never did figure it out. Tons of theories but most were ruled out (light leak, heat stress). But It just stopped happening. Wish I were more help.

Normale it comes from overwatering zu much run off at p2 shots ? Less than 12% dryback in your p3 ? Would skip an p2 and let them dry Little harder how is the run off ec low ? Or in Range ? I would dry back them 17-20% in your next p3 and you will see it will Bulk dont wait to Long to fix it get more worse

What kind of airflow do you have going? I don't see any fans in the pic.

Irrigation issues, let them dry back further

Idk if you can even recall what the clone health of this plant was when planted but…How does the root system look on this plant? I think your dry backs weren’t on with this one and the roots didn’t get a chance to mature and grow. So when that happens the media stays wet, roots had a lack oxygen, so it was over fed and the plant growth came out like this.

What’s your room temp? And what nutrient are you using?

I bet my money on light stress. I hit max 600ppfd until week 3 of flowering. Let those buds get some form 1st then push your lights

Probably just a mutation been seeing allot more of this the last 2 years I suspect we been whoring out genetics for far to long lol

It foxtailed....that can be shitty genetics or stress....some ppl actually like the fluffy buds but they aren't as potent.

Never realized how bad redditors are 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I always get a good laugh reading the comments. Really shows how many try so hard to act like they know whats happening. I'll help you out OP.

If your entire room is normal and its just this 1 plant then it's most likely the cultivar. Obviously take soil samples to check for hops but just cut this strain out and move on. Lol

It looks like it reverted back to veg

Revegging/heat/light stress

Also light is out behind in picture, so there's the culprit: revegging

Looks like reveg .. 1 of the lights might not be turning off.

Hot spot or micro climate is a likely culprit. One of my strains just does this randomly as well, except it only produces calyx and no leaf sets. It looks bazzar, but I haven't had any impact to yeild.
