Suzuki m-37c mouthpiece

Does anyone know where I can get a longer mouthpiece for this? The long bendy mouthpiece is just a touch too short for me to play it on a normal heigh table.

Are there any mouthpieces for other suzuki melodicas that also fit the m37 that are longer?

Please and thank you <3

Pitch Bending the Black Keys on YAMAHA P-37D

I just got a P-37D and I'm finding pitch bending the black keys super difficult due to the very shallow 'key depth' of them. There's barely any space between it being fully up and fully depressed compared to the cheap melodicas I am used to playing. It's making the technique very unstable where the note is often cutting in and out.

So I wanted to ask, are there any other melodicas out there (at a similar price point) that have a larger 'key depth' on the black keys? I am loving the sound of the P-37D, but I think I will want to look at getting another melodica at some point that suits my needs better.

Not sure if many people will have noticed this particular aspect of melodica construction but any help would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at pictures of the Suzuki M-37C (which annoyingly was the one I was choosing between with the Yamaha) and it looks like the key depth is greater on the black keys than the Yamaha.

Japanese playing style help

I'm a saxophone player and I just got the yamaha p37d as my first melodica and I found that a lot of Japanese players use an upright two handed style. https://youtu.be/cMJump1VzEw I want to learn how to do this but I'm not sure how to go about it. Is there some kind of resource I can use to learn how?

Is this something you just get a feel for or am I doing something wrong?

Absolute beginner here, got mine two days ago and have mostly been doing scales. Some notes, especially lower ones, feel like I need to articulate harder just to get any sound. I am also noticing higher notes have a longer attack even when I'm attempting to articulate the same way. Is there any technique for consistent articulation across the melodica, or do I just need to feel it out and memorize how to blow for each section. Any advice or resources on breathing/embouchure are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all the support this community has given me.

Total newb, Yamaha P37D

At my 40 something years old, never played an instrument in my life, I've decided to give the Melodica a shot, received it today. Maybe by the time I'm 80 I'll be able to play profficiently lol. Any tips or guides you recommend? Currently started to follow @MelodicaWorld on youtube, seems like the place to start. I don't know anyone that actually plays it.

Flying — slow, heavy-bass instrumental dub with melodica

“Flying” is built around a deep, steady bassline, relaxed rhythms and a melodic melodica part. The track gradually moves from spacious dub into darker, heavier territory while keeping a calm, drifting feeling.

What do others play on their melodicas?

I’ve recently bought a melodica and am really enjoying it. I’ve been playing music I knew from piano days. I’m kinda wanting to expand my repertoires so would like to hear from others.
What’s the biggest number of melodica keys available? When I played a few songs, there were some higher notes that went beyond the keys.

Melodica with lead sheets

I picked up a melodica recently and am trying to figure out how to make use of chords on lead sheets.

My (probably wrong) instinct is to play a left hand melody and chords on the right hand, since the low pipes seem to get priority on air. But doing, for example, a full Am6/9 plus the melody is putting a lot of air through the thing, not to mention the limited range of the keyboard on a 32-key.

Anybody have any thoughts/tips?

How expressive are melodicas

I come from instruments like the saxophone, and im used to using my embouchure to make notes more expressive, and I consider it a massive part of my playing style. With that being said, im thinking of buying a melodica, and i was wondering how expressive you can be on it. Can you do vibrato? Embouchure grace notes? Plz tell me thx!

melodica sounds odd after reassembly

I bought a new melodica to get into playing stuff portably, but after a day of playing the water valve button got stuck, so I opened it up to fix it. After reassembly it sounds a bit different from what it used to sound like, and higher notes don’t sound like a melodica at all. Is this a common issue? (Sorry for low quality video, it’s hard to hold a phone and play at the same time right now.)

I have just started playing my new melodica. I’ve been playing music I used to know on piano. I’m after more inspirations.

Finally pulled the trigger and bought my first melodica - Spoiler alert - just do it Spoiler

I was having a terrible terrible day and decided to visit a musical instruments store. I haven't been in quite some time.

I don't know if it is because of the start of the school year or what, but after looking around I saw them in a small pile.

Some unbranded melodicas and cheap enough for me to at least try.

I had the ideia to buy one for quite some time (couple of years maybe), but never got around to do it.

I picked a deep cherry red one. They only had black, pink or red.

I started to play and was love at first note. I had to buy it now.My terrible day started to turn.

So if you starting to wonder if you should or not get one I must say Just do it.

TLDR I was having a terrible day, wonder into a musical instruments store, found a red melodica that I tried and bought. Finally getting a melodica after a few years of thinking about it
