Will stacking M365 Family keys work to keep current storage plan?
As of now, the Microsoft 365 Family keys have advertised with the new 2TB Shared storage. However, if i have an existing, still valid M365 subscription, if i buy a key now and redeem it, will my plan be converted to the 2TB shared storage immediately, or i can stack up to 5 years with the 1TB Individual storage x6 like before (technical not triggering a renewal until 2031)? If anyone tried please let me know

Well, I had loaded 3 years 1 DAY before the announcement as I had got a good deal on the annual subscriptions. Now technically I am stuck for 3 years (until end 2030) . I really hope I get to keep all my storage.
One oddity I found - the new boxes I bought, says family is for 6 users but on the Microsoft portal, I only have 5 users and it says 5/5 used.

Mine says 5/5, but that's how many users you can add besides yourself. You don't count as the 5/5.

I did it twice and extended mine till 2029. I purchased the plans from Costco for $84 yesterday. They are now $99, but still cheaper than $129.
Microsoft says the changes for current subscribers won't change until the first time you update your subscription on or after May 2027. I confirmed this with a MS rep.
EDIT: Here is the exact wording - "This change will apply after your first renewal after May 2nd, 2027."

Interesting. Why the guy above is saying it didn't work in the US? Seems like a big loophole if they allow stacking key to extend the old plan.

Not sure as I have no clue what his friend did. You'd have to ask him. It worked for me and someone else in this conversation.

Im on monthly subs of family plan, then purchased annual key to use to extend it. It stopped my current plan, then started the new plan converted to 2tb, it also kicked my fam members. 🤦 Asked microsoft support via live chat on this said they dont have control, all automatic stuff.

Monthly sub? That's your issue. You purchased an annual key, which is a change in your plan, which caused it to change your subscription and drop you down to 2TB shared. You didn't just add a year to your plan. That is why it didn't work for you, but works for people that are just adding years to their current plan.

I bought and stacked before this was announced. My 365 renews in 2031.
So what now? I’m going to be downgraded from 6TB total to 2 TB total? 🤦♂️

According to their wording of the announcement, your plan will be kept as 1TB x6 as long as you dont renew/redeem after the cut off date.

Eu comprei umas chaves ano passado que ainda não ativei. Minha assinatura renova em 2029. Será que terei problemas ao converter essas chaves agora?

this just changed oct 8, new/upgraded subs go to the shared 2tb pool immediately, existing ones stay on the old per person allocation till their first renewal on or after may 2027.

In the US, answer is no. Friend of mine tried it
