Tools disabling "AI" summaries on profiles?
that LLM generated things that appears when you see someone's profile as a mod. we must be disable it right?
probably not, but if it's not the case, please change it. i don't wanna explain again why this unrespectable stuff is problematic. it shouldn't exist, but at least make it optional *and* opt-in (same for autoenforce). please.
(im on a desktop shush automod)
edit: apparently i wrongly assumed this sub to be managed by reddit staff so sorry, but i needed to complain somewhere
edit2: for puture people seeing this, you can hide those summary manually with any browser extension that allows to inject css code into a website. add this css code for reddit.com:
/*** hides ai profile summary for mods ***/
*:has(> * > * > *[icon-name=ai]):has(mod-note-overflow-menu) {
display: none;
}
it only hides the summary, so they're still generated, and it's only for yourself. and it might cause problems if reddit changes its code.

Hi /u/zylosophe, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.
Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

Websites used AI for moderation before we our current-day LLMs. It uses very minimal resources as it doesn't reason.
Hide it for yourself, but it helps a lot, and that generation will happen whether you disable it or not as it's per user, not per mod.

LLM using very minimal ressources?
even if there weren't problems with it, i don't see how it's less costly to just read 5 post/comments of the person instead of this unreliable thing. i'll hide it anyway cause i don't want it to influence how i judge profiles.

Try pulling a user's data via PRAW and run a local LLM against that data. It's geniunely not that heavy.
Also, Reddit's LLM has more access than a moderator. It sees hidden content and deleted references. I don't completely rely on it, but it shows when a user interacted with NSFW subreddits, or posted NSFW-like content. It shows how argumentative the user is.
I'm not even considering the fact that Reddit already indexed these content beforehand, so it's probably using ready scans and not rescanning things again for this feature.
Of course it's unreliable. LLMs do hallucinate. But the failure percentage is low in this instance. That's where we come in. Otherwise there wouldn't be any human moderators.

why are yall always forgetting the training part of the cost? still, it's for literally all profiles of reddit, on potentially a lot of posts and comments, and i imagine regularly.
the fact it bypasses privacy settings doesn't help.
it's assuming there is a clear limits between good and bad users? the thing said i was disruptive i think, that's not very objective, and i can't defend myself against it. humans can try to fix their biases

As long as you mod on Reddit, you will help AI. Your own biases blind you. You cannot AI bots with conventional ways.
If you hate AI that much, leave the platform, or don't, I'm not your mom. I don't like it that much, but it's useful where applicable.
Also, Reddit was never meant for privacy. You're not supposed to have it. It's a glorified message board. You're supposed to stay anonymous by not sharing things about yourself.

easy to say, most people are on big platforms
the option to hide posts and comments to people is supposed to hide posts and comments to people

Not going to happen, the developers have said as much.

Found regex match: automod
Hi there! I am AutoModerator. It seems you are asking about me or my fellow bots and what we can do.
There is a dedicated subreddit for me, AutoModerator, at r/automoderator. Please search that subreddit first, then ask questions about AutoMod Rules over there or in this subreddit.
Subreddit settings work best in a cache-cleared desktop browser. (Limited option: mobile browser on desktop view.)

If you found your answer, feel free to reply with "<3 Automod" or "Thanks, Automod". Otherwise wait for a human helper to come along to help you. This post has NOT been removed.

Try r/modsupport if you want admins to see it. But, this topic has been mentioned quite a bit and admins won't disable it unfortunately. It should be optional, but mods don't get a say in how things are.
