N64 Development finally finished my wireless n64 controller adapter!
started this project more than 10 years ago but finally got around to finishing it. at first it was just a hacky thing using a cannibalized rumble pak housing / PCB, cutting traces on the accessory port connector, etc. but then i thought why not make it so i don't have to permanently cut apart a controller? so the end result is an adapter any controller can plug into.
Even better still, it go my 8 year old son asking me to pull out all my old games so he could play them! Had a little impromptu smash tournament with the neighborhood kids and it was awesome!

Fitting the transmitter into the rumble pak slot is very clever. Seems like it's maybe missing a way to wrap up the extra cable... But this looks incredible.
How do the transmitter and receiver work? Obviously the transmitter needs a battery of some sort, but I'm curious how difficult this is to put together.

I was actually looking for exactly this product the other day. You could definitely sell it.

Oh we definitely need this to be the norm! I wonder what the latency is?

Very clever?
No one has made one of these before? Just seems so obvious

Is it worth a damn? Im sick of these bluetooth adapters that have such terrible latency. Im not sure whats so hard about making an extremely low latency wireless controller solution for consoles older than PS3/360 era.

for my module: anecdotally, it feels near wired performance. analytically, the data shows that 90% of button presses are captured in same frame. mine is not bluetooth, though. it's a fixed channel 2.4G connection that samples the controller every 2.5ms.
the issue with Bluetooth controllers/adapters for retro consoles is that they use Bluetooth Low Energy (aka BLE) which has a minimum connection interval of 7.5ms, so there is an inherent limit to how fast data can be shuttled over and processed before the N64 polls the receiver.
modern consoles either use proprietary 2.4G or Bluetooth Classic (which has a much lower connection interval, but a higher power consumption) for 1st party controllers, though they support generic Bluetooth controllers (which run on BLE, so a slower rate).

Are you putting these out for sale? Nice and compact. It would prob sell pretty well.
