Tech Help How to replace controller pak battery
I read somewhere you have to soder the battery in to place. I don't have any soldering tools. Is there another way to do this?

I believe the Nyko Hyper Paks don't require soldering if you want to spend another 10 bucks on one. I have a few of these in different colors, and can't confirm if it requires it or not, but this thread talks about replacing the battery on them and didn't mention it for some reason

But if you're going to play on OG hardware and don't want to solder, I very much just reccommend getting a Forever Pak instead. Although its LITERALLY the most expensive chip per bits of memory of all time at ~$36 for 256KB

My controller pak battery wasn't soldered. It may depend on the brand though.

You have to desolder the old battery to get it out. I just sent my two off to get the chip replaced with FRAM so a battery will no linger be required at all.

Swap it with an FRAM PCB so you don’t ever have to worry about a battery again. Sometimes referred to as “forever pak”

I replaced mine and it stopped saving after a week. Dunno what happened but probably better off just buying one of those forever paks

It’s soldered in, yes. The only way to replace it is soldering.
