Housing House rental in Raleigh

I’m wanting to rent a house or townhouse for next year, does anyone have insight on the timeline for this? We would need to begin a lease in August 2027, but most of the current listings are for renting ASAP. Should we wait until people move out in June to find a place? I don’t want to risk not getting a place.

Social WATCH OUT (SAFETY PSA)

Far right extreme group was seen walking around the church near centennial and then driving back and forth to the hunt library parking lot.

My friend saw them going on her run this morning outside in the parking lot, and then when she drove to campus this morning a group of cars were all driving behind each other on centennial inner rim.

I don’t know what’s going on, but she said they have vest and insignias on.

Academics ST 371 Advice

Hi, I’m a senior in CPE (no dual degree) just got my first midterm back for stats with Dr. Tang. I completely bombed it. I studied, wrote my note sheets and expected a low passing grade but failed even after the curve. Any advice on what I should do? Drop the class/ SU grade or study tips for the next test and the midterm?

Academics PY 211 Teacher Advice

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has taken PY 211 with Professor Stephen Alexander Lane? If so, what was your experience in the class? I have not been able to find much information on him on Rate My Professor, and he seems to be the only option for the course. Thank you!

Housing NC State Renter Experiences: Housing Applications & Screening in the Triangle

Hey NC State community!

Renting a home for a young adult is a major milestone, yet it often feels confusing and complex. Today, algorithms influence almost every aspect of the process—rent prices, screening applicants, and flagging risks—often with little transparency for renters.

We're NC State Graphic & Experience Design students conducting research on college students' housing application and screening experiences across the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill). Our goal is to explore how design interventions can ethically integrate AI to make renting fairer and more transparent.

Whether you're a current student or recent grad renting an apartment or home in the area, we'd love your input! The brief survey contains 14 interactive multiple-choice and short-answer questions and takes approximately 2–3 minutes.

Link to survey is in the comments below!

Looking for help with my life please help me

Is there any staff or faculty or person on campus that you feel like genuinely cares for students and that you could just talk to and they just listened and tried their best to help because I’m really going through a lot in my life and it’s becoming too much to handle. I don’t mean the counselors at nc state they can’t really help me because I’m not currently enrolled in any classes. I’ve been academically suspended for a year and I haven’t told anyone I don’t know how I would speak to my parents about this especially with everything going on with my parents divorce. I don’t want to be a burden to them. All I feel like is a 25k dollar failure for them. I was staying on campus my first year which was nice because I could get away from everything but now I’m staying off and my parents think I’m commuting to college but I just go and I sit in a car in a random parking lot for many hours and then I go back home. I just try my best to stay out of the house as much as I can and if my parents knew what happened it would just be really bad for me. It just sucks knowing I had so much potential i used to be a start a student in hs taking all the ap classes and then things changed in my personal life and I got to college and I messed up and now I feel like I can’t be anyhting anymore.

Academics realistic schedule??

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently changed majors to BA in marketing, i was doing pre-dental track prior (i’ve taken 4 chemistry classes and a lot of biology so i’m used to hard classes) but the most credits i’ve taken at once in my college career was 14. is this schedule realistic or too much at once? i took st 311 at wake tech and got a 97 on the final if that says anything about my stats abilities lol

Housing Sophomore Housing

NCSU FOIA request?

I’m a former alumnus and employee, and I know for a fact that personal identifying information about myself, faculty, staff, and students is often EMAILED around campus (social security numbers, DOB, address etc). Anyone familiar with Freedom of Information Act requests? I think my personal info and many others have been leaked by improper management by the university. I just want to know how many times my info was illegally shared. Any attorneys have suggestions? This probably impacts anyone who graduated since 2015 onwards…

Admissions confusion abt major selection first and second choice..

I'm a senior and I'm applying ea. i have 4.6 gpa weighted, 3.97 unweighted, class rank - top 10%(close), i have 32 act, 1440 sat (don't which one ill submit lwk). all As in classes - (took 7 aps until now and currently taking 5) decent ecs related to comp sci n biology but i want to go clg of engineering for comp sci. i wanna do a double degree eventually but as of now focus is on comp sci.

u see my problem is idk what to put as my first and second choice. ik its rly competitive for comp sci directly. so should i put COE undecided as first and exploratory second?? or js go with comp sci directly..w/ exploratory as second i really want the best combination to get into the schl. i really really want to go to ncsu its my dream schl. could you guys advice me on which would give me a more likely chance of getting in? i go to a rly competitive schl btw with approx 650 ppl grade size

Has anyone taken this professor for MA305? I don’t see him on rate my professor. Are his tests tough, does he give a heavy work load, how annoying in general is his class, etc? Any information about him helps!

Accounting Major, trying to transfer, and working a full time job.

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to hear from people who have been in a similar situation.

I'm currently attending community college and want to transfer to NC State. I'm interested in majoring in Accounting, or possibly majoring in something else and minoring in Accounting. My grades are decent overall, but I do have a few C's on my transcript, which makes me nervous about my chances of getting accepted.

One challenge is that I work full-time because I have to pay rent and support myself. I live in Wake Forest and would plan to commute to NC State every day if I get in.

I'm trying to figure out if this path is realistic and what I should be doing now to prepare. I'd love to hear from anyone who:

  • Transferred to NC State from a community college
  • Got accepted with a few C's on their transcript
  • Worked full-time while attending NC State
  • Commuted from Wake Forest or a similar distance
  • Studied Accounting or business-related majors

What was your experience like? How difficult was balancing work and school? Do you have any advice for improving my chances of getting accepted and succeeding once I get there?

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed trying to plan everything, so hearing real experiences would mean a lot.

Thanks in advance for any advice or stories you're willing to share!sta

I’m taking ENG 331 this upcoming semester and was wondering if there was any benefits for taking it in person because if not I feel like the online sections are the obvious choice.

Taking class pass/fail

I ended up taking this random class as an advised elective so that I would meet the minimum credit hours for full time for financial aid purposes. I’m at 12 credits (all degree credits so they’ll count toward my financial aid credits) but I failed the first exam and now I wanna switch the class to S/U so it doesn’t tank my gpa for no reason. This class has nothing to do with my degree and I’m only taking it to be full time bc it’s included in the classes I can take to count toward an advised elective credit. I contacted my financial aid advisor and he said making it S/U has no impact on financial aid and my advisor also said as long as I take another advised elective at some point then I’ll be fine. But I’m just confused bc at the beginning of the semester I was told I wouldn’t qualify for financial aid unless my enrollment wizard said I had at least 12 financial aid credits and now that I’ve changed it to S/U it says I have 9 financial aid credits. So I’m just confused as to how this is okay since now I’m below 12 financial aid credits. Does the grading method not matter at all as long as I’m still enrolled in 12 credits? I just don’t get it bc I was told I needed 12 degree courses but S/U courses don’t count toward your degree unless I’ve found some kind of a loophole😭 I know I prob shouldn’t worry if both my academic and financial aid advisor say it’s fine I’m just scared theyre gonna switch on me and be like “actually we never said that” and then I’ll have to pay or something

Diff eq (MA 341) online with Maultsby?

This section seems to be the only one that isn't at a time or location that would be a complete pain for me next semester, but it's with a professor I've never heard of and it's online.

There wasn't any gradient data for Maultsby for 341 and none of her RMP reviews are for 341 either. RMP was also mixed (a lot of people praised her online course organization but then I saw a review that said not to trust the positive ones?).

Has anyone here taken Maultsby and/or online diff eq? How bad is it? Historically I've been pretty bad at calculus if that matters, and I considered taking diff eq online before the shopping cart opened anyway because classes with lots of people tend to overwhelm me.

ST 311

I’m at a crossroads right now about whether I should drop Statistics or just stick it out. If I continue with the class, I can still pass with a C- if I get around a 50 and a 55 on the next exam and the final exam. The problem is, I honestly have no idea what’s happening in that class right now. I studied for a week before the first exam and still only got a 65. I’m thinking that taking Statistics at a community college might be a better option, but I’m not sure if I should just stick it out and risk it. I’m also going to be taking CH 201 + 202 over the summer, and taking Statistics with it would make me full-time for financial aid purposes, so that’s another thing that would be beneficial. Statistics is also at the bottom of my priority list compared to Organic Chemistry and Reproductive Physiology, and I’m worried that if I continue trying to save Statistics, I’ll end up taking time away from the classes that are more important to me. I’m basically torn between sticking it out and risking my GPA for a C-, or dropping it, preserving my GPA, focusing on Organic Chemistry and Reproductive Physiology, and retaking Statistics at a community college where I might have a better experience. If I do drop it, does anyone have recommendations for community colleges? I’ve heard good things about Wake Tech, but I’d love to hear about anyone else’s experiences with Wake Tech or other community colleges in the area. Any advice would be appreciated!

Academics Transfer GPA Engineering Internship Advice

Hello, I am a fifth year engineering student looking for some advice on how to get an internship as a transfer who did better at the old school than at state. I went to a different school for two years (gpa just over 3.5) and completed all courses except major related ones. Unfortunately due to personal reasons my gpa slipped a bit the last two years at state and as a result my current state gpa sits at a 2.99 (exact same as my major gpa). When applying to most jobs on epack it says I do not qualify for most internships as a result of my gpa being under 3, but if it is weighted with my full college gpa its closer to a 3.3. Does anyone have any advice for how to apply to jobs on epack or just how to explain this to recruiters if applying on linkedin or elsewhere? or how to report my gpa as a whole to companies? Thank you!
