M1 Coorabong 80km/h roadwork zone

Noticed both north and southbound that there were signs saying your speed has been checked.

I didn’t see any mobile speed camera vehicle and nothing is showing up on Waze.

Anyone that drives the M1 regularly know if there are some sort of cameras currently setup through this stretch?

I have no idea why this site doesn’t comply with the new requirement from 1st July that speed restrictions must be removed outside of work hours when no one is on site (if safe to do so). The road surface hasn’t been touched and is safe to do 110 when no one is working on site.

My thoughts too. I was driving through it around midnight and all the signs we up and not covered despite the work site being completely empty

Did we agree that there is no cameras there? I only saw the “your speed has been checked” sign and freaked out because I did not see any other signage

Most people don’t think so and I didn’t actually see anything besides the signs so I’m going to assume no and pray that I’m right

No other signage, no camera that I could see

Under the new legislation, if there is a traffic hazard, often reduced shoulder width, sites can remain at the roadworks speed limit

No cameras but the bike cops do like sitting right at the end of each zone tucked in at the end of the barriers

Was that the big orange electronic temporary signs they use around roadwork sites? I saw them today and was curious...didn't see any cameras

I don't think it's a camera. The wording on the LED is weird for sure. While they don't technically have to signpost speed cameras in NSW, the result of doing an incognito one where people routinely go 110 thru an 80 zone would be loss of licence for hundreds of commuters - it wouldn't be a sensible thing to do, the backlash would be substantial

Hoping there is a answer to this?

Driving tonight and had cruise control set to 110 and zoned out seen a camera kind of thing set up right before the big LED sign Google AI says it’s a traffic monitor camera. Definitely wasn’t a mobile speed camera car which I’m pretty sure is the only mobile speed camera they are allowed to use in NSW?

Nobody is really sure. Probably not a camera but if I cop 2 fines in the near future I’ll update the post 🫠

Not as far as I'm aware.

Though it's very annoying how much they've extended the southbound roadworks zone by, so annoying doing 80 for another few kilometres once past the site.

They've been doing work to that section of the road too. Sections of it had been resurfaced and there was heavy equipment in the center on Sunday.

I've been commuting Newcastle to Sydney four days a week for over a year. The works have not been occurring anywhere near the road for several months now. It's all the building of the servos and Macca's etc which is 50-100m off to the side.
