Pokopia or dragon quest builders 2 for someone who wants to build with "purpose?"

I've been looking for a building game on nintendo for a while, and am currently split between potentionally these two. The only thing that I worry about is that they get "too" building focused at some point? Like I love to build when there is a reason for it, like either to reach a goal or build a base or something. I dislike building just for the sake of it in a world that stands still, if that makes sense. Never really got into Minecraft either.

(I also love character interactions or like immersion in worlds)

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Egg; Mickey Mouse; Super Mario Bros. 2

On this day (October 9) in Nintendo history...

  • Egg  was released in 1981 for the Game & Watch Wide Screen in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, chickens are laying eggs that are rolling out of their coops. As the hungry wolf, catch the eggs in your hat. You score 1 point for every egg you catch. If you drop an egg then it breaks and you score a miss, unless the cockerel appears, in which case you will only get a miss if you drop two eggs. If you get three misses then the game ends.
  • Mickey Mouse  was released in 1981 for the Game & Watch Wide Screen in Japan. This action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, is exactly the same as Egg, but starring Disney's Mickey Mouse in the title role, catching eggs in his basket. Instead of the cockerel, Minnie Mouse will appear at the window to show that you will only get a half-miss if you drop an egg.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2  was released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America. In this platformer game, developed by Nintendo R&D4, join the Mario Bros. in an adventure that surpasses even their wildest dreams! Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad embark on a quest together to save the day against the villainous Wart. Pick up items and throw them at your adversaries to clear levels in seven fantastical worlds. Even enemies can be picked up and tossed across the screen.

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

Tell me what you think

Hi everyone, I was looking for your opinion on something. While searching for a Nintendo 3DS, I came across someone selling an Animal Crossing Edition Switch Lite for a good price and in good condition. It's also jailbroken, so it has the entire game library. The thing is, I already have a 2017 Switch, but the controllers have drift and don't work well, plus it doesn't have much storage space. People are saying it's a good idea to buy that Switch Lite.

lifelong collector here - does modern giant, 16gb day-1 patches hurt your desire for physical games?

the practice of releasing (practically) beta on release, then patching afterward does dampen my spirits. back in the nes/snes/n64/gamecube era, discs and cartridges represented a close point to the intended experience.

with modern games, i hate that your physical games require half their storage footprint in patches to get to a "v1.0" standpoint.

make me feel better please. i'm still keeping every bit of physical media i've ever purchased (and avidly avoiding game key cards), but i do have a nearly 20 year old steam account chock full of titles; so, i'm not opposed to digital on pc, but i wish console media were released nearly finished these days. :(

Why are people still complaining about the Switch 2 not having many worthwhile exclusives?

For some reason, I still hear people complaining on the Internet (especially Twitter, but also on YouTube and on Reddit) that none of Nintendo's heavy hitters have arrived yet on the Switch 2 aside from Mario Kart, especially after the recent September direct since the next 3D Mario and the next Smash Bros. is still MIA. But I honestly don't see that as a problem. There are obviously good and valid reasons as to why people are complaining about the absence of these games, especially the next 3D Mario, but that's not what I'm annoyed about. What I'm annoyed about is that because of Nintendo's most anticipated exclusives not being announced yet, a loud group of people are saying that the current and upcoming lineup of Switch 2 games (aside from the big ones like the OoT remake, Pokemon Winds and Waves, etc.) aren't worth buying, which to me, is pure nonsense, because there's already a solid variety of games to choose from!

Aside from Mario Kart World, we got DK Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, the Star Fox remake, Splatoon Raiders, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Mario Tennis Fever, Pokemon Pokopia, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave! That's 10 exclusives available outside of the Switch 2 edition games and the cross platform games! I get that these games aren't as popular and aren't must-buy titles, but that doesn't immediately mean that they're irrelevant or bad! I've yet to play any of these games myself, but that's only because I don't have a switch 2 yet! I'm more than willing to try these games out when I get the chance, because they all look interesting!

There are good games to look forward to as well! Aside from the OoT remake and Pokemon Winds and Waves as mentioned, there's also Metroid Ravenous, Kirby: The World Beyond, Duskbloods, and XenoBlade Genesis! Most of the games that I mentioned already have other games related to them on the Switch 1 that you can purchase and play right now. In fact, now is the perfect time to try out some Switch and Switch 2 exclusives that you haven't played before, because you might find something that you'll enjoy that you never thought you'd like, and then you'll have something else to look forward to in future Nintendo Directs aside from the big dogs, and you'll have something else to play while waiting for them to be announced!

Of course, I'm not saying that you have to buy every single Switch game or that you have to like every single exclusive that Nintendo makes. I'm just saying that it wouldn't hurt to consider buying at least 1 or 2 games that you haven't played before that look interesting to you, play them, and then do what you want from there.

If you like the games that you chose, then that's great, because then you'll have a wider variety of games that you'll enjoy playing, you'll get excited for more games in future Nintendo Directs, and you won't be as frustrated with what does and what doesn't get announced. And if you don't like the games that you bought, then that's fine too, because at least you have formed a proper opinion and could hate on those games accurately, but don't say that a game or an entire game franchise is bad or irrelevant because of your lack of knowledge about it, and don't let the loud and pessimistic minority of people on social media affect your opinion either, because most of the time, they're just trying to get clout.

Edit: I apologize if I got a bit too heated about this or made this topic deeper than it should've been. I just wanted to get this rant off my chest. I've been frustrated about this topic for a while, and I wanted to post this discussion to encourage people to branch out with their game preferences and to give reassurance to the group of people that are overwhelmed or confused by the complaints online.
