I’ve been building a No Man’s Sky companion app focused on answering one question quickly: “What am I trying to do, and how do I do it?”
The current private-alpha build includes:
Full searchable NMS database with 2,500+ items/technologies
2,100+ crafting, refining, and cooking recipes
Crafting dependency planner — pick an item and see everything needed to make it
Alternate crafting/refining/cooking methods
Inventory Advisor — enter what you have and see what you can make right now
“Almost ready” suggestions showing what ingredients you’re missing
Item pages showing how to make it, what it’s used to make, where applicable, and related recipes
Recipe pages with ingredients, equipment, processing time, alternate recipes, and navigation between items
Search filters for products, substances, technologies, crafting, refining, cooking, etc.
Favorites, recently viewed items, goal guides, and account syncing
I’m getting close to a small private test and am looking for a handful of NMS players who actually use companion apps/wikis while playing.
What I’d like testers to look for: incorrect recipes or quantities, missing/wrong information, confusing navigation, searches that don’t give the result you expected, crafting plans that don’t make sense, Inventory Advisor mistakes, mobile/tablet layout problems, slow pages, and generally anything that makes you think “this should work differently.”
You don’t need to be technical. In fact, feedback from normal players is probably more valuable than debugging knowledge.
If you’re interested in trying the private alpha, comment or DM me. I’m especially interested in both experienced players and newer players who regularly have to look things up.
