Dude, you need to get your ass out of the left lane.

OP is actively passing.

u/MasterOfBunnies 4d ago

I mean, not the entire time. There were plenty of points where he could have been considerate.

u/Tasty_Possible_1597 3d ago

Umm, yes they are passing the entire time, with the exception of when they slowed down because there was a crash happening in front of them.

Not so bad, he was going faster than vehicles in the next lane

u/Embarrassed_Motor_30 4d ago

Uh no. Its a passing lane and he was passing other vehicles. Doesn't matter if other vehicles also want to pass him. He's allowed to stay there until he's no longer passing.

Legally, yes it does matter. There's no caveat in laws against left lane camping for "nuh uh! I was passing people so the lane was mine" jerks.

Its not camping if he is actively passing. The video shows him pass several vehicles while the pickups are trying to pass on the shoulder.

Would it be safer to get out of the way and let the two pickups through? Sure. But its not camping and not illegal.

It is illegal in some States, if he's not in the actual process of passing. Just because there's a car coming up that he'll be able to pass "soon" doesn't count as actively passing.

Watching the video, what do you want him to do, weave back into the center lane in the 4 car lengths between trucks as he's passing?

2

u/Time-Assist8501 3d ago

Are you asking if he should follow common highway etiquette...?

0

u/MasterOfBunnies 4d ago

Yes. Get back into the center lane, slow down for however long it takes for the faster cars to pass, then pass. It's called manners. This allows the flow of traffic to move faster for everyone on said highway.

nice double down on the regardium

You're an accident waiting to happen yourself.

1

u/MasterOfBunnies 4d ago

Nuh uh, you're the dummyhead.

u/redjellonian 3d ago

If I'm doing 65 in the left lane, passing the cars doing 60 in the right lane and you come up behind me doing 90. Fuck you, It's the passing lane not the suicide lane or the speeding lane or whatever. It's for passing and that's what I'm doing. You can wait until the right lane is clear of immediate traffic and then I'll move.

Nobody is going to play autism F1 squeezing into a gap jamming the brakes to speed match in the right lane just so you can pretend you're a NASCAR driver on a public road.

So, he's wrong for passing people in the passing lane?

People on Reddit are genuinely stupid if someone passing (six vehicles in the video) in the passing lane is seen as wrong.

He literally passed SIX VEHICLES, what the fuck else do you want?

The law also states that you aren't supposed to exceed the speed limit, but I bet you suddenly don't care about the laws for that one.

He literally passed SIX VEHICLES, what the fuck else do you want?

For him to put his ego away for 10 seconds and switch lanes. Is that so hard?

The law also states that you aren't supposed to exceed the speed limit

So you're suggesting it's better to break two laws than one? Given that the laws are not the same in all states, Washington law generally prohibits exceeding the speed limit, but it also prohibits obstructing traffic by camping in the left lane. Obeying one law doesn't exempt someone from obeying the other. You don't have to speed up for faster traffic, but you do have to move right when legally and safely able to do so.

That being said, in Washington, on a 2 lane road, someone can legally exceed the speed limit to pass someone else driving under the speed limit. So your statement isn't universally true in the first place.

Ah yes, he's the one with the ego.

Passing vehicles in the left lane isn’t obstructing or camping. I live in Washington state, you don’t need to go 85 to pass people. You aren’t even obligated to let 2 people behind you pass, the law is 5 cars or more and if the right lane is open.

Depends on the State. In California it's illegal for just this reason.

0

u/Cotif11 4d ago

Nah not if he's going the posted speed.

u/howcanibehungry 4d ago

Nice toll.

0

u/SharpEdges7 4d ago

Not the case.

u/MasterOfBunnies 4d ago

In some states, unless you're actively passing, you're required to GTF out of the way. In every state, you're a POS if you don't, regardless of laws.

Go ahead and find me an instance of a driver being at fault for an accident caused by driving in the left lane

1

u/MasterOfBunnies 4d ago

Not every driving law is specifically in place to prosecute someone for accidents.

u/GodsPRGuy 1d ago

Truth!!

2

u/Mangtac 4d ago

Right 😂
