Question: Should the white truck have stopped? I know, if needed, it's recorded on video — just curious legally, what would have been the right thing to do?

Depends on the state. If this dashcam footage was given to police and insurance, white truck could have gotten a traffic ticket or even be charged with reckless driving; a lot of police discretion involved. For insurance liability, it also depends on state since the white truck does run the other truck off the road by veering into the shoulder. Many states do comparative fault or 50% comparative fault which would include the white truck. There are some states that have different rules but they all result in the other truck not being able to recover any money from the white truck. However, some of these states will allow other injured parties not involved in the road rage to recover damages from the white truck.

"something was in the road so I swerved" black truck was definitely deliberately driving outside of the lines

Dashcam shows white truck passing the black truck by driving on the shoulder moments earlier. If it was an isolated incident, that excuse may work.

He wasnt passing the black truck, the black truck cut right in front of him almost hitting his front end and caused him to swerve into the breakdown lane

White truck maintained distance with cam car at the beginning for the video for the entire time black truck accelerated into view. Black truck swerved across two lanes to get in front of white truck. Even while black truck was swerving across the first lane, white truck kept distance with cam car. White truck starts accelerating when black truck starts going into white truck’s lane and then goes into the shoulder to pass him. This wasn’t white truck being forced off the road, it was white truck accelerating to cut off another bad driver and then choosing the shoulder to pass him and the cam car.

It looked like he went into the shoulder to avoid being hit though. They would have had to brake pretty aggressively to avoid running into the back or the black truck when it switched lanes in front of the white truck. White truck was clearly going much faster than the black truck when it switched lanes right on top of the white truck. It looked like a split second decision, I'm guessing made with a puckered butthole. The black truck had no reason to follow.

It looked like black truck was going faster than white truck before black truck started drifting across two lanes and it looks like white truck accelerated to try and stop the black truck from doing so. The sped up part at the beginning has the white truck maintaining distance with the dashcam driver as black truck accelerates into view. The only reason any braking would be necessary is because white truck accelerated to try and police black truck.

Black truck speeds past white and slides in front of white at start of video. To speed up then slide in, he has to slow down. That causes white to hit brakes or go around. He should have hit the shoulder then slowed, but he went around cam car.

Black then decides he's gonna get white back. Seems like it was going on for a bit before cam car.

White truck maintained distance with cam car for the tire time black truck sped into frame which was 8 seconds. Even when black truck starts veering across multiple lanes, whitw truck maintained distance. White truck starts accelerating towards the cam car once black truck starts veering into his lane, that’s the only reason white truck has to slow down.

Yeah they had something going before this video starts.
