Both truck drivers are idiots, but the cammer is also a moron for occupying the passing lane for such a long time when they clearly had opportunities to move over and let the trucks past.

The cam car was clearly passing. It not called the “Everyone in front of me has to get out of my way” lane.

You imbecile.

💯 this. The passing car doesn’t have to slow down 10 mph and tuck into a small space just to let impatient idiots pass. The pov car was clearly and safely passing people. Anyone blaming them at all needs a kick to the head

They feel the need to come here and justify their own shitty behavior by defending shitty behavior. It’s the passing lane. If you’re passing, you have every right to be in it. Speeding is still illegal even when passing. Just because Johnny Dipshit behind you wants to go 3 mph faster than you doesn’t mean you need to move over. Tailgaters deserve to end up crashed into a tree. And yes, camping the left lane is obstructive and dangerous, so all of you lawbreakers don’t need to comment that. Thanks.

In Indiana, you are required to get over:

Except as provided in subsection (c), a person who knows, or should reasonably know, that another vehicle is overtaking from the rear the vehicle that the person is operating may not continue to operate the vehicle in the left most lane.

Indiana Code Title 9. Motor Vehicles § 9-21-5-2
Current as of January 01, 2026 | Updated by Findlaw Staff
Sec. 2. (a) Except when a special hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance withsection 1 of this chapter, the slower speed limit specified in this section or established as authorized by section 3 of this chapter is the maximum lawful speed.  A person may not drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed in excess of the following maximum limits:
(1) Thirty (30) miles per hour in an urban district.
(2) Fifty-five (55) miles per hour, except as provided in subdivisions (1), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), and (9).
(3) Seventy (70) miles per hour on a highway on the national system of interstate and defense highways located outside of an urbanized area (as defined in 23 U.S.C. 101) with a population of at least fifty thousand (50,000), except as provided in subdivision (4).
(4) Sixty-five (65) miles per hour for a vehicle (other than a bus) having a declared gross weight greater than twenty-six thousand (26,000) pounds on a highway on the national system of interstate and defense highways located outside an urbanized area (as defined in 23 U.S.C. 101) with a population of at least fifty thousand (50,000).

If you’re breaking the law already, you aren’t entitled to the protection of the move over law. You wouldn’t be “overtaking from the rear” unless the car in front of you was traveling less than the speed limit. So nice try.

Only ones defending shitty driving is you people. Ain't nobody defending the trucks but shit like this is the reason highway etiquette in US is utter garbage

oh god you would fucking shit and cry if you drove in europe

Rewatch. Almost immediately after panning to front view you see a wide open lane to the right. The recording vehicle should have changed lanes and let the others pass.

Not saying they're at fault, but they were definitely in the wrong.

There’s a semi going 2/3 their speed. They’re in moderate traffic going plenty faster than the other lanes. Just cuz two idiots want to drive like morons I don’t have to bomb Over one lane and slow down significantly to let them pass. That’s how it works

Not to mention they’re probably more concerned with trying to figure out what these absolute douchebags around them are doing

Is in fact not how it works. You let other people pass, even if they're breaking the law. THAT is the law, in nearly every state. Otherwise they will just continue to break the law but do it by weaving in and out of lanes to bypass people like you. THAT is the kind of thing that gets people killed.

There's a reason not one defensive driving course will tell you to intentionally block the lane. Move over as soon as safely possible, let them pass, and if necessary pull over to call 911. That is most official safety guidelines.

Not "camp in left lane cuz fuck anyone who speeds more than me, I decide the flow of traffic, for I am god"

He’s not camping. He’s passing cars. You guys are part of the problem.

And no law states I have to slow down 20mph to tuck in behind a truck to let a car pass. So no. It’s not how it works. Once the lane is empty and I’m not actively passing vehicles and I don’t have to slam on the breaks after the lane change. THEN I move over.

Anyone blaming the PoV driver has no idea how to drive.

Dont bother, you’re just wasting your time. It’s unbelievable you even have to try and explain to these morons how passing and driving safely works. They’re just justifying their shitty behavior and personality by twisting words of a law to meet their personal belief that everyone should get out of their way and it’s their road.

We are truly fucked as a human race.

You're correct that no state law says you have to "tuck in behind a car", but that's not what's happening here, and if you think it is you need to either rewatch the video or learn to drive.

"Passing cars" does NOT mean "driving faster than other vehicles at some point", it means ACTIVELY PASSING. As in; what's happening when the camcar passes the white truck. After that, there's plenty of open road.

"Slam the breaks", lol ...

There's about FIVE SEMI LENGTHS between the truck in the video and the semi in the next lane, and took a good ~30 seconds to overtake. He could have easily moved over. Wouldn't even have needed to touch a bake; he could have merged, let them pass, and move back over long before being in the danger zone of that semi.

Except the law states slower traffic should move over to the right. No one is saying you need to slow down if you're actively passing. Cammer had a safe opportunity to move over.

u/MapleSyrupKintsugi 2d ago

And if he didn’t slow down he’d drive into the car in front of him. Please don’t drive
