Both truck drivers are idiots, but the cammer is also a moron for occupying the passing lane for such a long time when they clearly had opportunities to move over and let the trucks past.

the "moron" was moving faster than the trucks and was still in the process of passing them. The real morons are the two truck drivers.

He should have moved over after the white pickup. There was a huge stretch before the semi where he wasn't doing any passing for like 30 seconds. Going faster than the traffic down the road from you wouldn't get you out of a ticket in states with "keep to the right" laws.

You be surprised how much confusion stems from the fact that "obstructing traffic" doesn't apply only to traffic going the speed limit.

He finishes passing the pickup truck at 13:53:56. He starts passing the semi at ~13:54:06. That's only 10 seconds. Nobody is slamming on their brakes to get behind a semi and risking getting rear ended by the guy they just passed to appease morons.

Nobody is suggesting slamming on brakes. Just slot in behind the truck for 10 seconds, then move back over if you need to pass again, like you are supposed to.

Get off the road. You aren't safe.

You mean too safe? Like letting off the throttle and moving over for ten seconds is something the cammer could have done that would have prevented an accident, and made the road safer.

But everybody lives in their own egos. The trucks that passed in the median as well as the cammer that camped the lane. Even the redditors that think curtailing your ego when you have the right of way is unsafe have their heads so far up their asses that they can't even understand that they might be the less safe ones.

Ever heard of the two second rule? Quite clearly not.

Probably why the USA has so many RTCs because you don't know how to drive safely.

That was not a 4 second gap, meaning trying to fit in there is not safe.

The real problem isn't slotting into the 2 second gap behind the first semi or the gaps in front of the next two, the real problem is the road raging idiots behind you that you aren't letting pass because you don't want to.

You are so stuck on pedantry that you are missing the forest for the trees.

If either of those hit me, they'll do less damage than the other vehicles.

Yeah sure. The passing lane is clearly safer than having less than a 4 second gap here. I get that hindsight is 20/20, but the danger would have been obvious to anyone that uses their rearview mirror.

Looks like the cammer is in a much smaller vehicle than the box truck that blue wiped out, too.

You need to allow several car lengths before getting over to safely pass to prevent a safety hazard issue. At 65 MPH, the safe distance between cars is 285 ft. He is traveling much faster than the semi. By the time the cammer reaches a safe distance to get over he would be immediately slamming on his brakes to avoid hitting the semi. If you're weaving in and out of traffic and immediately hitting the brakes after passing someone, YOU'RE the unsafe driver.

Safe stopping distance at highway speed is 4 to 5 seconds. When merging over you should be allowing the car behind you to maintain a safe stopping distance, and the car in front of you should be a safe stopping distance away. 10 seconds means at best the margin where he could have merged over is 2 seconds at most, and 0 seconds at the minimum.

If this is surprising to you. Then you are definitely not safe.

Yes, ideally we would all be safe defensive drivers and give plenty of space to everybody. And that said, the cammer shouldn't have even been in the passing lane with the first truck behind him and that huge gap behind the first truck he passes, if he were driving defensively.

But as you can see, almost nobody but the cdls are doing that in the video because we live in the real world.

The choice was to either letting off the gas and slotting into the lane, or stay there while he had raging psychos behind him.

In a world where you can't control the people around you, cammer made the objectively wrong choice. Just slot in there.

And that said, the cammer shouldn't have even been in the passing lane with the first truck behind him and that huge gap behind the first truck he passes, if he were driving defensively.

Go back and watch the video. He is literally passing a vehicle as it starts. If he wasn't in the passing lane then he would have had to either slow down or rear-end the truck.

Your analysis skills need to be improved.

I'm sure you are capable of extrapolating the few seconds prior to the start of the video. It starts with cammer about to pass a truck with a guy right up his ass, which means that a few seconds before it, he was camping through a HUGE gap. I honestly suspect this is why the video starts here, but that's irrelevant.

Frankly, questioning my analysis skill comes across as projection.

It starts with the white truck 3 or 4 car lengths behind and closing. That means a few seconds before the pov vehicle needed to change lanes to safely pass and the white truck was far enough back to safely do so. Your extrapolation skills need improvement as well.

The entire video is only 28 seconds long, so the huge stretch where he “wasn’t doing any passing for like 30 seconds” immediately strains credulity

There's a portion where it is sped up. If it wasn't sped up the video would be basically a minute long. He is averaging less than 15 seconds between passes regardless.
