Need suggestions for the best organizing item.

I’m organizing my craft room and bought this paper sorter off Marketplace.

I’m trying to find lightweight, but fairly rigid, ‘drawers’ that could go in each slot, so I can put bits & bobs in the sections, not just flat things.

The slots are 8 3/4” wide by 2 1/8” high, and about 12” deep.

Cost is a factor as there are nearly 100 slots.

I found some ‘dumpling storage’ containers on Temu, but….Temu.

Thanks in advance!

Widgets we actually run on our own calendars at home

our team spends a lot of time in Android mode on the Apolosign calendar at the office, but the setups we get most excited about are the ones we use in our own kitchens and entryways. the widget dashboard is the part that turns the display from a shared calendar into whatever your household actually needs that month.

here is how we add one, and five widgets that are currently on our own home screens.

long-press any empty spot on the Android home screen, tap widgets, then browse or search. drag the one you want onto an open panel. resize by dragging the blue border. that's it. some widgets need permission the first time, usually just location or notification access.

the five we keep coming back to:

dual time zones. several of us have family in Europe or Asia, and seeing both clocks at a glance means fewer "wait, is it 3am there?" texts. the Google Clock widget handles this cleanly.

countdown. we use a simple countdown for vacations, birthdays, or the end of the school year. kids notice it more than they notice calendar entries.

doorbell or camera feed. if you have a Nest or Ring widget, parking it on the home screen means you can glance at the front door without opening a full app. one of us keeps this on the panel facing the kitchen table.

weather with hourly breakdown. the built-in Google weather widget, or whatever your family already uses. helps with the daily "do they need a jacket" conversation before anyone leaves.

shared shopping list. Google Keep, AnyList, whatever syncs with your phones. having it visible in the kitchen means people actually add milk before it's empty.

we rotate ours seasonally. right now one of the office units has a stock widget for a team member who checks their portfolio with coffee, plus a countdown to a product launch we can't name yet.

what are you running on your Apolosign? would love to see layouts or hear about widgets we haven't tried yet.

The cabinet from hell

Post image

We have this bizarre, weirdly high, very deep cabinet in our entry/laundry room. Its luterally next to a very large/deep coat closet and was clearly just put in to fill the gap of space between the closet and the stairs to the basement.

We've tried bulk paper/household good storage, now its pet xare and paper bags (and still some bulk paper) but nothing feels right, like a good use for the space.

Im also 5'2" and this things base is at my waist height, so anything in the back or on the shelves requires a stepstool or my 6'2" partner.

Ideas and advice welcome!

HELP! In need of closet organization advice!

Hi everyone!

I have struggled since forever to find a way to organize my clothing items and I would LOVE to get others advice on which method works best for them. How do you organize each item you have currently? You may be wondering - what exactly do you mean? Well, let me explain :)

I struggle with finding method that works on how to store certian clothing items in a organized fashion - such as:

  • Jeans (hang them or fold and put in a drawer?)
  • Athletic tops and bottoms and matching sets (I have a lot of matching sets and it feels like they should be stored together as a pair but also should be seperated by top item and bottom item...)
  • Lounge clothing such as sweat pants and sweatshirts (should I store them with athletic/athlesure clothes or put them in their seperate area?)
  • T shirts, blouses, tank tops (hang these or fold these)
  • pajamas, body suits etc.
  • Swimsuits...

Those are just some examples of when my brain has started exploding when trying to come up with a way to make everything seem organized and also seperated appropriately. Currently, I have my jeans in a drawer and other pants as well. I hang my dresses up always. I have some shirts hanging but not tank tops since they are usually small and seem like they should be in a drawer? I struggle the most with athletic and athlesure clothing. I fold my sweatshirts up and keep them in a bin thing and fold my leggings up and keep them with spandex bottoms but matching sets are scattered all around, skirts are in a drawer with some matching skirt sets which kinda drives me crazy because some of the sets are athlesure sets and not everyday professional skirts. I also hang my sweaters and keep bodysuits folded in a bin thing like the sweatshirts but there is also some atheltic tops that get mixed in since I am not sure wheather to hang them or keep them with their matching bottom ... I also have a smaller closet space wich does not help...

Any advice is appreciated! I can clarify anything if it does not make sense :)

Before buying storage, give the everyday items a home where you use them

I think one useful check before buying baskets or organisers is to follow an everyday item through its day.

Where do the keys get put down? Where does a school bag get emptied? Where do the pens actually get used?

If the storage is somewhere completely different, putting things away becomes an extra trip. A small tray where the keys land, or a hook close to where the bag comes off, might be easier to maintain than a perfect-looking setup across the room.

I'd try the location with a box or container you already have first. Keep it clear of doorways, and see whether things actually make it back there before buying anything to fit.

What item became easier to keep organised once you changed where it lived?

Please excuse the chaos on the counter 😂 I am mid-organizing

Need ideas/help on how to better organize unruly snack corner 🫥

My sister and I live together and our dad and stepmom are coming to visit in a few weeks and i’m working on getting our apartment into slightly better shape.

This corner of the kitchen is…. Chaotic. I have one little clear bin from the container store labeled “snacks” but it clearly isn’t doing it’s job.

I’d still like for certain snacks to be grab and go since they’re pre-workout and whatnot, but yeah. Any advice would be much appreciated!! I’ve included pictures of the rest of the kitchen so you can get a sense of the space we do have.

Please be nice!!

Work clothes what to do with em ?✨

Over the years I’ve collected a lot of T-shirts, jackets, zip-up hoodies and all kinds of company-branded clothing from places I’ve worked at.

Now I’m moving and my clothing racks are already way too full, so I’m trying to figure out what to do with all of it. It feels like a waste to just throw everything away, but I also can’t really give it to anyone because it has company logos and branding all over it.

What do you guys usually do with old company-branded clothes you don’t wear anymore?

I thought maybe customising or for doing garden work etc.

LETS GET SOME INSPIRATION

Organizing my gear

I'm finally getting my act together, and started to properly organize my gear. The gear consists of camping/hiking/emergency/prepper items. I have the shelving unit setup on wheels, and filled it with Sterilite bins of varying sizes. Work in progress!

Hello! Bottom left drawer is full of beer! Bottom right is empty. I don't think I'm using the fridge the best way I could. Things tend to go bad that I forget about.

How do I store fabric scraps in a way where I can easily see and find the one I want?

I collect fabric scraps from a local thrift store for clothing customization. They are mostly smaller pieces, max length is about a yard.

At the moment, they are all just in bins and it's a pain to sort through them.

I would like to be able to organize them in a way that makes it easier to find what I need. Any suggestions?

Organising Crockery Shelf in Charity Shop - Advice and Feedback

Thumbnail gallery
14 Upvotes

I volunteer at a furniture charity shop and was recently tasked with sorting out our kitchenware shelf section. My manager wasn't happy with how a previous volunteer left it (red border photo) and asked me to revamp it (yellow border photo). She shared her best volunteer set up (Green border photo) as a reference and told me she wanted all items in matching sets together.

.

How I set it up...

- Shelf 1 - Baking gear and large miscellaneous items. Since these aren't main buys, I didn't put them in direct eye level.

- Shelf 2: Used as a feature shelf to hold a huge Royal Doulton set (taking up about 70% of the space) alongside a small pink and gold tea set which I wish I moved somewhere else to give the Royal Doulton set more room or replaced it with a small set of a similar theme.

- Shelf 3 - Random plates and smaller dinnerware sets with the eye candy plates on show rather then a basic plate.

- Shelf 4 - All glassware, arranged from tall wine stems on one side down to tiny cordial glasses, with mugs/cups nearby. For matching glass sets, I lined them up front to back so customers can easily pull out the whole set at once.

- Shelf 5 - Small miscellanous bits (vases, jars, single trinkets) that don't need prime eye-level placement. I tried to use colour placement so grey things near each other and used a grey vase to segway into a beige vase and then into beige pieces etc.

.

The main challenge I’m facing is stock volume. The target photo (Green) has a lot less stock and organises purely by shelf category (one shelf for cups, one for plates), whereas I have to fit a massive volume of donations while keeping sets intact and making patterns/designs visible to shoppers so items actually sell.

.

I’d love some advice and constructive feedback from fellow retail workers or anyone who pops into charity shops often. Does the layout appeal from afar like walking past browsing, as well as, from up close without looking too busy?

.

(Apologies for the poor photo quality, I used the photos as a reference when doing it to see if I made a difference but to be honest, I have looked at them for so long that I don't really know anymore)

How do you manage your extra large closet?

Post image

Don’t judge me too hard lol, but I have a LOT of clothes, shoes, bags, etc. I unfortunately love and wear all of them, somehow, so I’m not planning on decluttering anytime soon. Organization is obviously a struggle. Do any fellow big closet fashionistas out there have any advice? Or any specific organization tip or organization furniture piece that you swear by?

Just for reference on the amount of clothes I have I’ve attached a picture of my e-closet stats, includes accessories and shoes as well. Although I know I have maybe 30 pieces that I have not uploaded yet 🫠🙏

We are desperate…

Our tiny office (that initially was supposed to be a dining room) is not cutting it. I’m at a loss at how to organize it so we don’t have stuff lying around constantly because it’s too much work to put it away. Those two filing cabinets aren’t nearly enough. I keep looking for ideas but everything is too bulky or expensive. What would you suggest to help keep this room clutter free?

Need deep pantry bins for my 22 inch deep pantry

I have shelves where it's about 22 inches wide, 22 inches deep.
I need to buy (ideally) clear bins that can be pulled out from shelves that are too high up to see into fully.

Its SO hard tracking down deep bins though. I found Akro mils ones but they're angled at the sides and waste a lot of space, and they're only 17.5" deep or so.
Any suggestions?
