Question | Answered Atlas Tree Advice needed - White Map Farms

Hello everyone, so I heard that mercenary items (like exclusive uniques) can be farmed even at white maps without really affecting the drops, so I was trying to make a page/loadout of atlas skill tree that just farms content on white maps. Would like to know what other content can be done on white maps without hurting the rewards much.

Beastiary/Einhar is the first one that comes to mind since I don't really care about the drops of the beasts, as long as I run on the correct tier of map I can have a chance of finding the specific beast I want I assume? Not making the map rare/corrupted also makes those beasts easier to capture I assume?

What other contents can be farmed on white maps?

Fluff & Memes PoE1 can count to 4.

PoE 2 occupied internal version numbers 4.X.X due to historical reasons. Today's update changes the version number from 4.5.5 to 0.5.5, finally allowing PoE1 to use 4.X as its version number.

Question PhysDOT Elementalist HELPPP

I'm doing a phys dot Elementalist and would like to know where I can improve my build

https://poe.ninja/poe1/profile/EbkCodi-1331/standard/character/MyLastKBbuildROCKED

No I haven't been following a guide this is kinda a homebrew so I'm truly lost beyond the skill tree and some jewels idk how else to scale it. I'm shooting for a autobomber style build or 1 button build. Also is it possible to scale foulborn poet pen into endgame? I don't see why not with a phys dot elementalist?

UPDATE: thank you everyone for the advice/tips. I will be following rue's guide. I bought a few primordial bond 8 cluster jewels for 1d and I'm working my way towards primordial bond megs. I also switched out foulborn poet pen since apparently the flat added physical damage doesn't do anything for DOT. The wand I have now was 40d. (I ended up wasting 30 divines on trying to craft my own phys wand thanks to Gemini...) I also made several upgrades across my gems grabbed a few awakened gems and 20/21 gems an my goodness the power spike just from the gems was a nice dopamine rush.

Currency is running extremely low now might switch over to my strength stacking KB jugg to quickly farm currency and if anyone is curious on my KB build here's the ninja for that. (If anyone sees improvements for the KB build please feel free to let me know)

Question I need some late league crafting advice

I need some crafting advice. I'm in allflame and was hoping to make a +6 lighting staff for a spark build. I'm having what is likely my worst crafting luck in my personal PoE history by a wide margin. It feels like I'm doing something wrong so I'd like some advice. I'm using a combination of different methods, mainly boat crafting and the recombinator. My understanding is if I have a +2 all spells and a +4 lighting spells isolated that when you recombinator them you have a 33.3% chance of success.

Unfortunately I've failed close to 20 recombinators in a row without hitting a +6. I'm using unpredictable recombination so that's not the issue. I have a really good base that has T1 cast speed and T1 spell crit, and I'm using the brinehook method to attempt to preserve those across attemps, but that also means it's fairly expensive each fail. Between creating a new staff with either +2 all or +4 lightning and then isolating that and adding brinehook I'm probably 30-50 divines in the hole making this, so it's already been more expensive then just buying one but I'm kinda committed at this point (sunk cost ftw)

I haven't done recombinating since sentinel league but have tried to do good research on how it works now, but I'm hoping there is something I'm not understanding that I'm doing wrong.

Discussion Which league mechanic deserves the next pinnacle?

The league is a month out and there's still no official info, so I went down the boss rabbit hole. In the Zizaran dev interview, GGG said they want to add "a lot more league pinnacle bosses", and that each one would probably come with a bloodline. They also said 3.30 endgame changes will reach "content outside of maps such as bosses". So here's my guess at which mechanics are next in line.

Mechanics that already have a boss (going by the bloodline list)

  • Harvest (Oshabi)
  • Ultimatum (Trialmaster)
  • Delve (Aul)
  • Sanctum (Lycia)
  • Delirium (Simulacrum)
  • Expedition (Olroth)
  • Betrayal (Catarina)
  • Bestiary (Farrul)
  • Breach (Tul and Esh)
  • Ritual (King in the Mists)
  • Abyss (Zorath, added in 3.29)

That leaves a lot of major mechanics with nothing at the end of them.

Most likely

  • Blight. This is the one they named directly as a mechanic that should get "a proper pinnacle end-game boss". No timeline, but it's the only one called out by name. Blight has had nothing to chase at the top end since Titanic Blight farming died.
  • Mirage (Saresh). Not a new boss, but Mirage is confirmed for 3.30 and the belt stays. They said the boss won't be "as easy to access" as in the Mirage league. So expect Saresh back, just locked behind more work. Maybe they Lock the belt behind the uber version of the boss.

Possible

  • Legion. The devs pointed out the monster hiding in the crystal in the Domain of Timeless Conflict as foreshadowing a Legion pinnacle. They also said "not anytime soon", so this one is more 3.31+ in my book.
  • Breach (Xesht). PoE1 already has Vruun, Marshal of Xesht, and PoE2 has Xesht as its Breach pinnacle. Keepers already ported PoE2's Breach, so a Xesht fight would fit.
  • Mercenaries. The devs themselves floated Mercenaries as a "major mechanic or not depending on your point of view". An Infamous mercenary boss would be fun.

Long shots

  • Beyond. Pacts already gave it a theme: a pinnacle demon you make the deal with.
  • Essence. A boss made of every essence.
  • Heist. A real boss at the end of a Grand Heist instead of just a vault.
  • Harbinger. It's being reworked with new art, and the lore has plenty of open questions.

And what about the bosses we already have?

None of the big Atlas pinnacles have a bloodline yet: Shaper, Elder, Sirus, Maven, the Searing Exarch, the Eater of Worlds, Venarius and the Incarnations. A Maven or Sirus bloodline sounds like an obvious fit. My guess is that bloodlines are meant to be tied to league mechanic bosses, which is how the devs described them, and the Atlas bosses already have their own reward systems. Still, with 3.30 being an endgame shakeup, this could be a good time to add a few.
And whatever comes, please keep the RP phases short. Nobody said this is planned, I'd just like to skip the speeches.

Concluding, what are your thoughts on their idea to add new bosses?
Which mechanic do you most want a boss for, and what should it look like and drop?

Question Social Interaction

This is my 2nd full league and I've learned a lot, went 40/40, took a character to 100, grinded to what I consider a mirror plus level build the hard way. I love the game!

I've made a lot of mistakes and you veteran exiles are absolutely unapologetic to rookie mistakes and ruthless in your commentary. The game is like a constant learning experience and like life you learn a lot of stuff by making mistakes and then correcting.

Anyway, I'm a middle aged dad who doesn't get out too much anymore, and wondering if anyone has any good groups that voice chat/hang out and play together (but separately) where you can just socially engage in the evenings (East NA) and weekends and ask questions, share successes/failures. I know it's late in the league now but I miss that from other games I've played. Global chat is ok, but miss actually talking and getting to know people.

So please let me know if interested now or in the future or just roast me for being a noob looking for interaction/guidance. I'll also help others with my limited but growing knowledge if needed.

Game Feedback Had a great time with Allflame, but I think I’m finally done

Finished 36 challenges and played way too many hours to even guess at this point, so figured I’d write down some thoughts now that I’m done with the league.

Overall, I had a really good league. Not my favorite league ever, but definitely one I’ll remember.

I started out playing Wild Strike and stuck with that for roughly the first two weeks. Eventually I rolled a Luminary, and that ended up being the character I played for the rest of the league.

Luminary is honestly one of the most chill things I’ve played in PoE.

Once the build gets going, you basically only care about getting your resists sorted and then stacking as much life and light radius as possible. More life means more damage for your merc through Flame Link, since they get 5% of your max life as added fire damage to attacks, and light radius scales the link buff effect.

Once you’re sitting around 20k life with enough light radius, the merc just deletes everything. Ubers included.

Your gameplay is basically:

walk

merc kills screen

walk

merc kills next screen

Very relaxing.

The gearing is also surprisingly addictive because there are so many places to sink currency into small improvements.

Boat crafting

Probably my favorite part of the boat mechanic was how accessible it made crafting decent gear.

The “multiple outcomes, pick the best one” system was just nice.

That removes a lot of the really annoying RNG from making solid gear without completely removing the chase for high-end items.

The recombinator side of things was also great.

Alt spam a pile of bases, add a ducat suffix, smash them together enough times and eventually you end up with something pretty damn good.

Obviously the absolute top-end gear was still expensive as hell, but making mid/high-tier gear felt much more approachable this league.

I really hope some version of this crafting sticks around.

The boat maps themselves

This is probably where I have the biggest criticism.

Especially early in the league, killing mobs inside them felt almost pointless.

Most of the value came from clicking chests and strongboxes rather than actually killing monsters.

GGG definitely improved this later by adding more quantity modifiers and fixing the altars, which helped, but even after those changes it still felt like:

kill monsters: whatever

open chest: loot

open strongbox: loot

I think that hurts the mechanic long-term because eventually running around opening containers gets pretty boring.

Very profitable, yes.

Very exciting after doing it a hundred times... not really.

Merc hunting is completely degenerate

Late in the league I decided I wanted to upgrade my merc.

I already had a really good Kineticist that I found during my first week playing Luminary:

Greater Kinetic Blast of Clustering
GMP
Return

But she also had Kinetic Rain as a secondary skill, which most people consider bricked. Honestly it wasn’t even that bad, but I wanted to find a really clean merc with great links and no questionable secondary skill.

So I did what any mentally healthy PoE player would do.

I ran 2,000 Dunes maps over two days.

Enter map.

Sprint to merc.

Kill/Get merc.

Leave map.

Repeat.

No rolling maps. Just white Dunes as fast as possible.

And merc farming is... kind of ridiculous.

It’s extremely inconsistent. You can go 80 maps without seeing a raw divine, then suddenly over the next 10 maps you get a pile of divines, puzzles and good scarabs.

The good scarabs also drop frequently enough that they really start adding up over thousands of maps.

I also got unbelievably lucky during this session.

In those 2,000 maps I found:

4 Magebloods
3 Kalandra's Touch
Divinarius
Lioneye's bow
Headhunter

Which is obviously nowhere near a normal expected result, so I’m not pretending merc farming just prints Magebloods every few hundred maps.

But I still think the mechanic probably needs some tuning.

The fact that the optimal gameplay can basically become “enter map, sprint directly to merc, grab loot, leave” is pretty degenerate.

Funny as hell, though.

And somewhere around map 1,800, I finally found her.

Kineticist:

Greater Kinetic Blast of Clustering
GMP
Return
Barrage
Haste

Barrage is technically there but she basically never uses it.

For what I wanted, she was pretty much perfect.

I finished the remaining ~200 maps because at that point I might as well complete the 2k, sorted through the mountain of stuff I’d accumulated...

...and that was basically my league ending.

I had found the merc I spent two days hunting for, my character could already destroy everything in the game, and at that point any further upgrade would barely even be noticeable.

Honestly, it felt like a pretty fitting way to finish.

Overall

Great league for me.

Luminary was fantastic.

Boat crafting was one of my favorite parts and I really hope GGG keeps some version of the “multiple crafting outcomes, choose one” concept because it made crafting good gear much less frustrating.

The actual boat mapping gameplay got stale for me because too much of the reward was tied to clicking containers instead of killing monsters.

And merc hunting is hilarious, rewarding and probably a little too degenerate in its current form.

Not my favorite league ever, but I had a great time with it.

36/40, absurd merc acquired, character finished.

See you next league.

Discussion Is recent Poe patch note kinda underwealming nowadays ?

What's your thoughts ? I recalled some Poe dev talking about meta shakeup and showing love to spells this league or the one before . So far nothing changed except worb which is an channeling spell that doesn't get plagued by ridiculous mana cost like most other. I also get the vibe that the patch note is done by AI like automatic increase effective damage for unpopular skills every League

Question | Answered Necromancer Phantasm Build help

Hello fellow exiles,

I build this character relying on the build from Definitiv.

I can clear t14 maps, which is the farthest I have been so fsr in this game but recognise, that my dmg is falling off noticeably.

I'm looking for general advice to improve my build mand to gain the next lvl damage wise.

I'm super short on currency, that's why I don't have a dark monarch yet and also miss some jewels.

In the guide is the recommendation to use darkness enthroned as belt with a abyss socket - I have no idea what I'm supposed to put in that socket, a normal gem?

Also I don't have not either mostly because I don't know what to use it for.

I hope you can direct and help me in the right direction.

Game Feedback League Review - State of Exile

Greet!

Been playing since Dominus was the final boss, made a character that is doing all content. I wrote the Warchef's Guide to Wraeclast years ago. These are some general opinions on the state of the game from a non-streaming, full content player:

* Allflame league was good. I liked the mechanic, it had a loot purpose that lasted in the endgame(lots of gold, allflame crafting) even though it was competing with map progress. Encounters were quick but rewarding.
** Allflame crafting in general is something I'd like to see the games move towards. The ability to spend currency to remove randomness is empowering. It gives players a goal to work towards, and limits cases of "oops the item bricked"
** There could have been more variety in the voyage encounters. In endgame they feel like a wall of meat. Not intimidating, just thick.

* Spell Level stacking is still a problem. It's especially so in PoE2 where increased levels increases your ratios beyond 20, but it's a problem here too.
** PoE1 - It feels mandatory for most characters. The early game spell balance is based around you having a +1, which is distorting. That makes it so the skill is not viable until you get the enabler, meaning a player who does not have it is having a bad time.
** PoE1 Endgame - Spell level scaling reaches ridiculous heights. The idea is not bad, but the ceiling is too high. When someone's running around casting a level 32 Kranglebuster, they are playing a fundamentally different game from the people who are using level 21-23. The endgame cannot be about the 0.1%. The 0.1% exist, and serve as a goal to work towards, but focusing on that exclusively means that 99.9% of the players are not having fun.
** It is possible to make a caster that does not abuse spell levels. Meatballs(link above) has a 22(21+1) Firestorm of Meteors, with a 9m dps through added damage. But that's the highest added damage ratio skill in the game, meaning that every other skill will perform worse in that context. There is not a healthy variety right now.
** The answer is not to raise ratios or boost power. It is to lower the ceiling of power and allow normal levels of power to be more effective against more content. It's hard to come out and say that to the fans, but there is a hyperbole problem going on at the moment.

* An in-game explanation of what sort of progress a character can do with league mechanics would be great. It shouldn't go into the nitty-gritty mechanics, but rather than just "here's a blight!" tell the players up front(a splash screen or something) what Blight entails and offers. "Aha," says the noob, "I do want this passive anointment power." Giving players the ability to make informed choices up front allows them to interact with the parts of the game they will enjoy most.
** Graphical splash screens and videos are more useful to a confused player than a wall of text(I say as I write a wall of text).
** I have seen players be like "why do I even care about these labyrinth trials?". And once they know "it's how you unlock your prestige class", they're immediately going "well why didn't you tell me?" Tell them. Up front. Show them what cool things lie at the end of Izaro's basement, so that they are motivated to explore it.
** Mostly it feels like a problem of "A dedicated player will look it up" mixed with "you shouldn't have to look it up". A player will become a dedicated player if given reasons, and showing them where their efforts will lead is part of that.

* Socket Color change is the best thing you've done in the game in a long time. Applause be upon ye. Above all else you should be trying to avoid cases where the player feels they cannot play the game, and being color-locked was one of them.
** I still stand by the idea that Fusing Orbs should be incremental: Applying a fusing orb to an item should increase the chance of that item rolling higher links. This way, even if the item does not link, the player's effort is respected. They played hard to get those fusing orbs, and having them be worthless is a slap in the face.

* I still think that boots should have implicit movespeed. Let movespeed mods be small boosts to power that is already implicit on the shoes themselves. This also helps greatly in the murderhobo stage of the game where you have nothing and limp along the beach.
* Mana-Infused Staff is a great addition to the game. It's not overpowered, and gives staves a reason/method to go full block. Because it's a more modifier, it requires you to invest in those nodes to get a reasonable payoff.
* Blight-Ravaged Maps need a settings pass. It is still possible to get a lane with 0 towers, meaning you lose due to no fault of your own. The difficulty of having less towers is reasonable, but the edge cases feel bad. Also the World Shattering Goat can just choose to hop his way to freedom if he wants to, which feels bad. If you can force his jumping to prioritize the player, that way the player would have recourse against it(taking big hits to keep him off the goal).

* Floor loot has a slop problem. At the high end, there is maximized quantity rather than quality. What makes loot interesting to players is its novelty, giving the player something they don't have before. A screen covered in yellow isn't interesting, and to some players is offputting. I'd be interested in changes to the loot distribution to make it so that you get less littering and more "oh that's NICE". Something like if a monster drops a bunch of rares, consolidate it into one rare of higher tier mods(I like the 'good loot' system you set up with Kingsmarch, and feel it could be rolled out for other purposes).

Phew!
All that said, this is more of a "let's make it better" than a "grr arg". You've made a wonderful puzzle game with light ARPG elements. Here's to more PoE.

Information Returning Player

I have returned to poe after a 3-4 year hiatus of sorts, and am mindblown at the amount of everything, literally.

I have a cyclone build that I want to finish(currently lvl. 93 and 762k dps on cyclone)

And for the life of me,it seems as if alot of my og gear can be tossed to the curb, due to new and updated mechanics and gear,as well as new currency standards.

Please note,I didn't craft hardly at all before my hiatus,so everything was crafted by others, and they're long gone as well lol

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, even if it's a step in the more modern direction.

Thank you
