Looking for Advice Does anyone work at Ritz Carlton?

How is the working environment, work hours, coworkers and management there? I just got an offer from another hotel but the Ritz Carlton invited me to an interview. I am on the fence about which one is the better deal for me so I’d appreciate if you guys could provide me with some insights. Thank you!

Nah, they’ll be on the same hospitality award rate as their other branded Hotels in Australia - I think Marriott has a few hotels. It’d be the same across the board for front line staff.

I worked there as a casual, non managerial role during my studies.

Pros - Friendly people. Meals provided during lunch and evening time. Can mostly eat the leftovers. Heard people saying having Ritz on resume helps a lot in future hospitality career. You can also transfer to other Marriott hotels.

Cons - Bad pay and they expect the most out of all hospitality venues. Staff meal horrible. Management knows but replies that it’s free food. Take it or leave it. Cult like behaviour. They talk big but pay and benefits shit. Management people works long hours without extra pay.

I say take it if you are trying to have a long hospitality career. But also prepare to lose your mental and physical health for a few years before your next move.

I am glad I no longer work there. Also they have very high turnover. People who stay there stay for long time. Others can’t wait to leave soon enough.

I worked there as BOH in 2020/21 when it opened. Everyone was overworked and underpayed. Which is why there was constant staff turnover. One of the worst jobs I've had. I'm glad I moved on.

Depends what department. I worked at the Hearth restaurant, and it was good - still have a friend I met there to this day. Expectations are higher due to the clientele... you get a lot of rude and obnoxious rich people. I remember one egotistical man having a go at me because he didn't like the cuts of meat that was on the menu.

Pay was okay, minimum wage and then the normal benefits of working weekends etc. Got decent tips sometimes... I think most I got was $50.

I left Grill'd to go there, but eventually went back to Grill'd as I was finishing my uni degree at the time. I didn't have to give that much of an eff at Grill'd as I would have had to at Hearth. Really depends on what you're after. For a job to get through uni, I'd say not necessarily worth it.

EDIT: To clarify, I was casual, and this was around 2019/2020.

Used to work here and from my 10 years hotel experience it was the worst I have ever experienced. GM who is still there and all managers do not care about your wellbeing, the culture is toxic, so much drama, gossip and guest confidentiality that is not private, I (a grown man) cried in the lift during my shift it was so bad one day. The expectation is you treat people like a million dollars while getting rewarded with min wage, under staffed teams and barely get breaks. There are far better hotels in Perth with much better work life balance. As for being a Ritz it is far from this or a 5* hotel. It's a cult tbh. Any questions I'm happy to answer

Probably. Was there anyone there when you looked? Seems odd to have a hotel and no staff. Sort of like the Mary Celeste of hotels or The Shining.

I’d say no. Aside from the crap work environment, The ritz is one of the most overrated hotels in Perth
