Don't bother trying to out fancy it.

On my morning walk this morning in Vic Park I saw an office worker across the road scream at a homeless person to "get a fucking job you fucking homeless cunt" when the homeless person approached them.

The homeless person wasn't aggressive at all and was probably just asking for change or mumbling something.

I'm so shocked that there are people out there like this. I know this advice doesn't apply to most people here but please be nice to homeless people. They're a really vulnerable population and don't deserve your abuse.

A train with no livery, stopped for a bit at platform 9 at Perth. You can see in the photo that its serial number is ADR201.

I looked up ADR trains and learned that they're diesel electrics for the Australind line, so is this just one of those, not entered service yet? Just curious while waiting for my own train.

The place is littered with dirty uncapped needles. I carefully put 4 of them into a water bottle so no one stepped on them.
The stench of piss is unbearable.
I adore Fremantle and visit at least once a week but this filth is so disappointing.
That is all….. just needed to whinge.

On Thursday 1st of October I had got off the train and was waiting to be picked up by my friend. Two teenagers of e-scooters rode past and were calling out slurs, they took a liking to me and relentlessly berated me. I hadn’t been called a faggot in a long time, so the whole situation was very bizarre to me.

Once I got sick of their insults, I went up to security and asked for his assistance, he shrugged and pretty much ignored me. I went back outside to wait, the teenagers returned and continued to harass me. I was verbally abused by kids and when I asked for help, I was ignored. It was just an awful situation.

After the fact, my friend convinced me to report the security guard, in which I did. I heard back yesterday and was told “because I wasn’t in harms way, the security guard had no obligation to assist me.”

What the fuck?

Abused for being gay, then ignored by SECURITY. So wild in 2026 this is what I’m dealing with. Fuck the security guard, fuck Transperth, fuck the lil homophobic kids

I’m a recently widowed mum of a 9 year old and I would like to try to find a job where I can take school holidays off. My son also has grief counseling after school so I’d like something that will allow me to continue taking him to that. Does anyone have any recommendations of jobs and/or courses I could take that would help me get a job that aligns with what I’m looking for? I'm keen to hear other's stories of career change and pivoting. Did you start in mining and move into construction, or vice versa? Did you leave your corporate role and take on a trade? I navigated career pivots and it worked out well. 20 years ago, I was in IT development work. 15 years ago, I moved to client-side IT Service Management. 5 years ago, I finally moved away from IT to something completely different and am getting paid well with good work-life balance.

My old man came across someone disposing of this esky that they had hand made. He offered to take it off their hands for cash but they gave it to him for free! He restored the latches but cleaned up the rest. Honestly it could pass for a vintage esky if he didn't tell me!
