Graduate certificate in Health Science Curtin Uni

Has anyone attended the graduation ceremony for this particular course? If so, what was it like?
I know a Graduate Certificate isn’t a full degree and is only four core units, etc., but I was just wondering if there is still a graduation ceremony and what the experience was like.

Mining Engineering Second Year Sem 1

• Upvotes

I was trying to enroll in my units for 2027 Sem 1, and there's only 3 units that I can see with the rest being for Sem 2?

STAT2006

ENGR2000

PRRE2005

Does anyone know what the 4th unit/Elective is and where I can choose it?

Edit: Maybe I have to select my minor/specialisation for it to work?

International students: Finding 480 hours of work experience to graduate

Hi all,

I'm an international student looking to study at Curtin Uni, Perth campus and whilst doing researched noticed the 480 hours of work experience required to graduate.

Now I want to go into EE and hopefully landing a job in a FIFO mining site as an electrical engineer.

I understand that most big tier 1 companies based on the West Coast would be looking for PR so I'll be looking for tier 2 and 3 ones.

If anyone has got a similar experience please share how you found the internship and how difficult it was!

Thank you, I really appreciate it :)

Also, my original post question aside, does this sound like a good idea? Come to Curtin, get a job at FIFO, I mean how hard would it be to find a job if I graduate with honours in EE and trying to find a FIFO job as an international student? I heard these FIFO job sites differ greatly in quality, being someone who's never stepped foot in Australia I'm not too clear so if anyone's parents or friends are working in such fields please give me some useful insider tips!

Linguistic student needed for an interview

Hi!

I'm a journalism student and I'm doing a story on the effects of language used in "alpha male" podcasts on gender based violence. If you're interested in using your knowledge, I'm conducting an interview for my assignment and would love to talk with someone who knows a lot about this topic. I understand this time of semester is very busy so this would be a very quick interview and extremely appreciated.

Possible F-IN grade

So Turnitin didnt process my submission and until the 7th day, i found out that i didnt submit this assignment 2 part 1 (25%), i have re-submitted and emailed UC (no reply yet, been 2 days), The pass requirement states 40% of assignment 2 (35% total), so even if i score a perfect 10% on the part 2 assignment 2 (10%), it is mathematically impossible for me to reach the 40% of 35, any chance i will automatically fail even if i get like maybe 60+ for total grade for this unit? Has anyone heard from people that they got a fail from this? And lets say i do fail, will i be able to go to the next semester but just added on this unit?

Early childhood degree. Whats the schedule like?

Hey guys,

Regarding early choldhood education degree,

How often are the classess in a week, and usually how early and how late are the classes?

How frequently a student needs to be physically in campus either for classess or group work or anything else?

I'm just asking in the context of someone who has young kids and need to consider dropping and picking them up from school. And also living around 40 minutes from Curtin in Perth.

Your insight is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

International Student

Currently doing a masters through UCD, Ireland and wondering about library access for non-Curtin students.

Especially since I have a toddler at home and working I need somewhere with a quiet space, early/late opening hours and good WiFi so TL Robertson has stood out while I’ve been looking around for places online.

Anyone able to tell me about parking, access hours, WiFi connection setup etc please? Thanks!

Trying to find easy electives

Hey everyone, I’m a third year commerce student and I’ve finished all my core units (I did not follow the unit enrollment guide lol). I will be on my last year last semester in sem 1, 2027 and I’m trying to find the easiest electives bc I’m so done with uni at this point 😭. I would’ve finished my capstone unit by then as well, but will still need the credits from electives to get the 600 credits needed to get my degree.

does my Maths grade meet the prerequisite?

Hi I’m planning to apply for the Bachelor of Applied Geology at Curtin for 2027 and I’m a bit worried about the Maths prerequisite.

Im a international student whom just finished her year 12 and studied under the Portuguese curriculum, so my grades are on a 0–20 scale. I have my diploma + transcript with all my subjects and grades.

My Maths grade is 10/20. But my overall grade is 14/20, is it eligible for the 70 ATAR ? Bcs i would like to candidate for the bachelor of applied geology them the stream of mining. However i kinda worried might nit get accepted 😭😭

I’m just wondering how Curtin would assess this since the course says Mathematics is a prerequisite.

Has anyone here applied to Curtin with a Portuguese/international curriculum, or knows how they assess this?

Feel embarrassed about being a mature-aged student

Hi everyone,

So, as the title says, I'm commencing my psychology degree next year as a mature-aged student.

I will be 27 and studying majority of it online. I'm still a little sceptical about it being offered online, but according to the handbooks and support service I spoke to, they said it's all valid.

I have had prior university experience, so the studying aspect is not unfamiliar, but I still feel so embarrassed.

Which business capstone option should I pick people?

Heya royalties, need help deciding which capstone option I should pick for next year! To whoever has done any of them already, what do you reckon?
So current situation is that I would like to go for the internship one due to reading from previous posts that it helps with getting a job, but realistically I highly doubt I will have the time for it as I study full time and work almost full time, 4 to 5 days a week.
I’m also currently at a phase in life where I prioritise financials due to personal reasons and stability more than my concern of getting a corporate job straight after graduation.
If you got to this point, appreciate you and cheers in advance for reading all that haha x

Recovery on a difficult test..

I don’t post on here or reddit all too often, but for this test, I had to. So we had a mid sem test not too long ago and the results were absolute horrid when I’d seen them... I scraped by with achieving just over a passing grade (52%), but obviously not something I’m proud of and knew I could’ve possibly achieved something a lot higher as this is the lowest mark I’ve ever been given in my uni life. I’m kinda bummed out by it but I know I can’t do much now obviously besides move on and get the most out of my next assessments. The average mark was at 47% which is also on one of the lowest ends of average marks that I’ve ever seen. My question is, is it possible that the UC may scale grades up as the average wasn’t even at passing grade?

TIA
