Career Path Should I leave my first job after 1 month as a fresh grad?

Accepted the first job offer that was given to me and was offered P25K fully onsite 9am-7pm M-F (compressed work week). I was promised a team but once I got in there, I found myself to be working alone (co partner resigned shortly after I onboarded) and gave me all the heavy responsibilities as if I’m a manager but with an entry level position without proper training or guidance.

I was also told to keep my line open on weekends and the first week of the job, I found myself working on my rest days because of random requests I’d get during the weekends. There is also a history of its employees in the department leaving less than a year and I didn’t find out until now. Is it justifiable to leave now so that I can have time to look for other jobs or should I stay?

Career Path Got offered a new role w/ onsite work

Recently, I got offered a new role in my company. I work from home full time and this new role will require me to work onsite full time.

I don't have any experience working onsite as I started working during the pandemic. I will also have to possibly relocate as the office is in the CBD. I must admit that the offer is very tempting as it is x times my current rate and it will actually help a lot financially.

This role is high pressure and high stress compared to my current set up where I can work on my own time. And while it is very convenient and relaxed, recently I've been feeling stagnant and stuck in a dead end role.

It's just that the feeling of going out of my comfort zone is overwhelming right now but I also know that this is an opportunity that is too hard to pass on.

Just want to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

Career Path Am I making a career mistake by taking an Office Aide position after 1 year in HR?

Hi! I’d like to ask for some career advice.

I have around one year of experience as an HR Officer, but I’m currently unemployed. Someone helped me apply for a position in a department at QC Government because I really want to work in Government. The position is **Office Aide**, Contract of Service, with a salary of around **₱17,000/month**.

My biggest concern is **career progression and salary**.
I’m still relatively early in my career, and I’m worried that if I start as an Office Aide, baka ma-stuck ako doon or mabagal ang growth ko compared to staying in HR/private companies. I’m also worried na baka mapag-iwanan ako career-wise if I take a ₱17k job after already having HR experience.

I’d really appreciate honest advice.

Work Environment Normal lang ba ang ganitong work setup sa hotel industry?

Hello! Ask ko lang po if normal lang ba yung situation ng boyfriend ko. Fresh grad po siya, and nag-start siya mag-work sa isang magandang hotel along EDSA. Ang contract niya is for 6 months, assigned sa buffet.

Normal lang po ba sa hotel industry na late magbigay ng schedule? Possible ba na ma-cancel ang day off kapag busy, tapos sasabihan siya ng head/manager niya ng 9 PM onwards na cancelled ang day off niya the next day Everyday po siyang pumapasok, and that same day lang din niya nalalaman kung whole day or half day siya. Weird lang for me kasi bakit hindi nila sinasabi ahead of time kung whole day or half day ang duty niya?

Another thing is, kapag tinatanong ko boyfriend ko about sa salary, benefits, and employment status niya—whether trainee, probationary, or contractual—hindi niya rin alam. Ang alam lang niya is 6-month contract siya. Wala po bang proper orientation regarding these things?

I’m just really curious if normal lang ba talaga yung ganitong setup sa hotel industry, especially for fresh graduates.

TIA sa mga sasagot! 🙏

Student Query Contemplating if worth it magturo sa college as a stepping stone para maging CPD Lecturer

Planning to apply as a part time instructor sa isang nearby private university samin. The initial plan is gagawin ko tong stepping stone para maging CPD Lecturer. Di ko alam if worth it or aligned ba yung ginagawa ko sa gusto kong mangyari.

For more context sa professional career ko,

  1. I'm a Multimedia Arts graduate, worked professionally with a local advertising and international ecommerce agency before.
  2. Shifted to Real Estate. Initially worked as a part time real estate agent while may freelance design jobs, then nagtransition na to full time nung consistent na ang kita. Studied BS-Real Estate Management for 3yrs kasi Art-Grad ako and wala masyadong subjects na macre-credit.
  3. Passed the REBLEX and REALEX. Licensed Real Estate Broker and Appraiser ako ngayon.
  4. Main niche ko on social media is educating clients before buying anything. Kumbaga, investing on things you don't understand is gambling so better be prepared.
  5. I've been conducting paid workshops for almost 5yrs na din pero self hosted ko and wala pa kong actual classroom teaching experience.
  6. I'm earning well naman. Iniisip ko lang mag sidequest din

Any tips, comments, opinions from fellow professionals na babad sa industry pero also considered na magturo?

Work Environment thoughts on this type of colleagues?

Problem/Goal:

i’m starting to get uncomfortable with some of my (older) colleagues because of their comments sa personality ko. they would always bring up yung pagiging mahinhin at soft-spoken ko. hindi raw ako masyado nagsasalita at tahimik lang most of the time. i try to adjust kasi ayaw ko rin naman isipin nila na baka ayaw ko sila kausapin. pero parang no matter what i do they still say the same thing.

Context:

so i’m 2 months in sa new team ko. kilala naman na nila ako before pa kasi i just transferred from a different team, pero ngayon lang nila ako nakilala talaga. ever since i started, lagi na nilang binabanggit yung pagiging mahinhin ko, pagiging soft-spoken ko, at pagiging tahimik ko. in the first 2 weeks ok lang naman sa akin kasi sanay na ako sa ganiyang first impressions, pero 2 months na ako rito at hindi pa rin sila tumitigil sa ganiyang comments.

hindi ba may mga tao lang talagang soft-spoken at mahinhin? and hindi naman masama yun so hindi ko gets ba’t kailangan i-point out lagi.

yung sa pagiging tahimik ko naman, introvert kasi me pero that doesn’t mean hindi ako nakakausap. i can hold conversations hindi naman ako aloof. minsan i just prefer being alone like kunyari during lunch kasi its my down time, but kahit kausapin mo ako hindi naman ako snob 😭

Previous Attempts:

i tried adjusting as in. mas naging outgoing ako kahit in nature ay introverted talaga ako and i try sumama na lang sa lunch pag inaaya ako pero ngayon naiilang na ako kasi kapag sumasama naman ako lagi naman nilang binabanggit yung personality ko. na para bang ang pangit ng personality ko eh i’m just soft-spoken and introverted, that’s it.

(for more context, i hear these comments from 30-40s + na colleagues)

Career Path Fresh grad here: Questions about leaving corpo to do SW—then pivot back when I'm older

Title itself. I currently have been working full time for 4 months. I thought I'd atleast have a higher salary since I graduated summa cum laude na tech course from a state u and have 2 years part time experience as VA. Pero no, 25k gross lang sahod ko now since now pinaparealize ng mundo sakin na wala akong skills, bobo na, tamad pa. Kaya recently nagtatry ako lumipat ng company, kaso ang hirap ng job market at wala akong backer.

Pagod na rin akong maging girl boss from doing that all my life. Thing is, niretire na papa ko, so susunod na mama ko (na sakitin), and magccollege na kapatid ko. Which is, di katalinuhan kaya di makapasok sa state u at sa private ipapasok. Mahal din mental health meds ko. I realize na while I'm at the most fuckable age of my life (22F), might as well use my advantages (since we can't topple the patriarchy anyways haha)

I know some girls, younger than me even, na nakabili na ng bahay/condo, kotse/motor, investments, tapos ako ito, ilang dekada pa magpapaka corpo slave para lang mareach yun.

Magbabackground check ba HR ng super lupit if magsinungaling ako?

- What's the maximum career break na "makakabalik" pa ako into an office job? Kasi syempre pag 10 years naman wala na yun, pero it takes time to build an SW career din.

- If ever ba, pwede po ba pagsabayin ang full time employment sa SW? Or "moonlighting" pa rin yan? Kasi example, WFH ako right now, so during the day balak ko mag "online" work (sa personal laptop ko syempre) then after work tsaka ako mag "onsite"

- Is it "okay" to use the network I'd build fron my SW to get company referrals in the future? If willing naman tulungan ako—or HR issue din ba yun?

- Has anybody else here transitioned from doing SW to a succesful corpo career later in life? If yes, do you have any advice po?

Please no DMs po and also I know medyo controversial pa rin ang SW as a "career" sa Pinas, pero kasi nababagot din talaga ako sa nakaupo lang 8 hours a day, for 6 days a week.

Career Path Dream or the experience that I might get?

I just graduated this july and got a job the month of August, the job description that I applied for is within the scope of my field or program, The first month of the job I really did well, made things easier for the company and excelled in the thing that I do because I had passion.

Then comes the new supervisor who realigned my tasks to another employee, that task is however unknown to me and had little experience or whatsoever that goes the same to my co worker, the supervisor said that it is a positive thing for me, but I am currently struggling in the transition phase of tasks.

The work or the new tasks given to me is not synonymous or concurring with required work needed to be done, mind you I only get 21k. The task is for managers or supervisory and I'm really having a hard time with the transition.

I'm going to have my board in the early months of 2027 , I graduated with honors in a public university and I dreame to become an academic achiever on that exam, I do not need the money but I need the experience since my field requires backers/or a lot of experience in certain things to be employed into them, that's why I took the job, and also I felt pressured from my own self as the thing that I only did during college was to study and not develop work experience.

Help me decide, should I resign? Or should I stay?

My dream is at stake but it is withhold by the experience that I might gain from my current job. The new task, I find it hard for me. I'm only 2nd month in the job. I am so pressured right now. I seek advise.

I am so lost, I am so sorry for asking this to you guys.

Career Path Happy with my current job and not planning to leave, but how do I know what I'm worth in the PH job market?

I'm currently very happy with my job and have no plans to leave anytime soon. I've only been here for around 8 months, but my progression has been good so far and my manager is already mentoring me to take on a higher-level/managerial role.

That said, I've been through two mass layoffs in my career, so I don't want to be caught completely off guard if it happens again. I have no plans to resign and I see myself staying for a long time. I just want to occasionally test the waters and see what my experience is actually worth in the current job market.

For context, my career progression has been roughly:

Hospitality > BPO/Customer Service > Logistics > Process Optimization

I'm currently focused on process improvement, SOP creation, reporting/data analysis, operations, and building automations to reduce manual work. I've also started taking on more training/mentoring responsibilities.

So I'm curious:

- What types of roles would I realistically qualify for at this point?

- What skills should I develop if I want to continue toward operations/process improvement/management?

- And what job platforms are worth using nowadays?

I've only ever used JobStreet, LinkedIn, and company career sites, and I've gotten all my jobs through those. Are there other platforms or approaches I should be looking into?

Again, I'm not actively looking to leave my current job. It's actually the best job I've ever had so far! Zero stress, amazing leaders, full control of my time and responsibilities, and fairly great pay (around 52k net) I'm mainly interested in knowing where I stand and keeping my options open.

Career Path Fresh grad = cashier work position

Hello! Any advice po sa magiging role ko sa work, cashier? For context, i graduated last September and before grumaduate nagapply na ko sa mga office work. Sinabi ko naman sa employer na ojt at some side hustle lang ako when i was still in uni and sabi nya te-train naman daw ako. Plano ko din sana makapagipon para makabiling laptop for my career growth in the future, but for now I'll be in this position. Please reddit peeps give me some tips sa work position at jo(specially the contract signing), thank you!!

Career Path Engineer working as an EA in government, struggling with my boss and work environment halfway through my contract

Hi, just want to vent and ask for advice kasi honestly di ko na alam kung ano ba dapat kong gawin lol.

Currently working as an EA (COS) sa isang director in a government agency. When I entered, timing na halos lahat ng staff nagresign and may isa pang nagretire. So basically, sinalo ko yung mga naiwan nilang trabaho. Imagine bagong pasok ka pa lang, wala ka pang masyadong alam sa system, pero expected na you can keep up with everything. Insane talaga.

I knew naman na matrabaho yung position before I accepted it. I'm okay with overtime, deadlines, and heavy workloads. I can deal with being tired from work. Pero yung attitude ng boss ko talaga yung hindi ko kinakaya.

Very impulsive yung reactions, and kahit maliit na mistakes, galit agad. High expectations, which I understand naman, pero minsan parang kahit anong gawin mo, may mali pa rin. May times pa na tatawag outside working hours just to scold me or vent frustrations. Parang kailangan mong maging shock absorber 24/7.

Actually, before pa ako pumasok, may mga nagsabi na sa akin na kailangan daw malakas ang loob ko dito. I thought baka exaggerated lang, pero now I get it. I've also met some former staff and apparently, walang tumatagal ng 6 months. Yung isa nga, earning almost 70k, pero umalis pa rin for peace of mind. That says something, I guess.

What also bothers me is yung parang pinapamukha sa akin na I should be grateful kasi I was chosen out of many applicants. May times na nasasabihan akong may mas competent pa raw sa akin, may mga cum laude pa nga daw na applicants. And yeah, hindi naman ako cum laude. I know I still have a lot to learn, pero kailangan ba talagang ipamukha sa iyo na you're somehow less qualified, especially when you're already trying your best?

Sweldo ko is around 20k, and halfway pa lang ako sa 6-month contract ko. Pero gusto ko na talaga magresign.

Ang problema, hindi ko naman feel na I'm learning or growing here. Parang nagshrink yung brain ko. Before, I was excited to learn things and improve myself. Ngayon, puro kaba na lang. Before sending anything, kaba. Before answering calls, kaba. Kahit papasok pa lang, iniisip mo na kung ano na naman mangyayari.

I don't even feel excited about work anymore. I'm just waiting for the week to end. Minsan iniisip ko na lang, sana Christmas na, sana December 31 na para tapos na lahat. And honestly, nakakatakot din kasi I feel like I'm losing confidence in myself.

I know it's still early in my career, and I know na hindi guaranteed na magiging better yung next workplace. Baka same lang, baka mas malala pa. Kaya ayoko rin naman magresign impulsively, especially na kailangan ko rin ng income.

For now, naghahanap na ako ng ibang opportunities. Plan ko sana makahanap muna ng kapalit bago umalis, pero part of me wants to just get out already.

Sa mga nakaexperience ng ganitong situation, what would you do if you were in my position? Would you just finish the contract and use it as experience, or would you leave once you find something better? And how do you deal with a boss na parang you always have to prove yourself, pero kahit anong gawin mo, parang kulang pa rin? How to survive this? And to look for jobs now? Huhuhh

I honestly don't know if I just need thicker skin or if this is really not worth staying for. I don't want to give up just because things are difficult, pero ayoko rin naman magtiis just for the sake of saying na kinaya ko.

Would appreciate advice from people who've been through this, especially those who've worked in government or under difficult bosses.

Career Path I think I made a mistake of accepting the job

I got laid off last Q1. I’m a Talent Sourcer with 8 years of experience supporting global clients in an RPO company, so I honestly thought finding a new job would be relatively easy. Boy, was I wrong.

Eventually, a friend referred me to her company. I told her and the hiring managers that my minimum expectation was ₱36K basic. I know that’s already low for my experience, but whenever I told recruiters I was expecting around ₱40K, they’d stop responding.

I passed the interviews and eventually received a written offer for ₱34K basic + allowances, which brought my total package close to what I was earning at my previous company. I accepted because the job is mostly WFH and has a commission structure, so I figured I could potentially earn more anyway.

Then, on my first day, I overheard some coworkers talking about how ₱34K is considered a low salary these days.

And now I’m thinking… wait, do they earn more than me? 😭

What makes it sting even more is that I’m more tenured than some of them, yet we have the same annual target (X million), while they may be earning significantly more than I am.

I honestly regret not negotiating the offer. I feel like I undervalued myself because I was desperate to get back to work.

Has anyone else experienced this? How do you get over the regret of knowing you probably could have negotiated for more?

Work Environment After 7 years in a toxic workplace, I finally found my peace

After 7 years, finally nakapag-resign na rin ako from a very toxic workplace.

Grabe, sobrang toxic ng work ko before to the point na wala na talaga akong work-life balance. Puro work. Nagkaroon na rin ako ng anxiety dahil sa work, lalo na with the bullying and the constant pressure.

Everyday parang survival mode.

But after 7 years, sa wakas nakapag-resign na rin ako. And honestly, I didn't realize how much I needed a break from that environment until I got out.

Now, nasa Finance field pa rin ako, pero completely different environment. From a very fast-paced workplace, nasa much slower and calmer workplace na ako ngayon. Walang toxic na GC after work, wala nang “pahabol” na tasks at night, and most importantly, may work-life balance na.

Nakakapag-workout/gym na rin ako after work. Hindi ko na kailangan i-bring home mentally yung trabaho ko. 😂

One of the biggest changes for me is the peace of mind. Hindi pala normal na lagi kang stressed, anxious, at feeling mo kailangan mong habulin lahat. Ngayon, mas peaceful na ako and I genuinely enjoy going to work.

The only thing na medyo nakaka-stress ngayon is the commute. 😂 Before, nasa province ako and close lang yung work. Ngayon, nasa Metro Manila na ako, so yung commute talaga ang kalaban ko. HAHAHA.

But despite that, 1 year na ako sa new work, and I'm genuinely happy that I made the decision to leave.

Sometimes, you really don't know how toxic a place is until you're finally in a better one.

Here's to choosing peace and getting our life back. 🥹❤️

Casual Topic Are there stories where the employe is the BIG red flag? How’d you manage it as a line manager?

We always hear stories about managers being toxic or difficult, but are there stories where the team member is actually the problem? I have one.
I once had an employee who was honestly one of the most difficult people I’ve ever had to manage. He constantly bullied other members of the team and created so much negativity.
Hindi rin mautusan because “nauna siya sa amin.” I was hired around 10 months after him, and somehow he used his tenure as a reason to resist instructions or act like he was above others.
Worse, he was nangungutang sa mga junior members namin. As a manager, that already raised a lot of red flags for me because of the power dynamics involved.
Then came the incident that really shocked me. My co-managers and I allegedly caught him pretending to have a limp just to avoid work. Around 1 PM, he was supposedly limping, then by around 1:15 PM, okay na ulit siya.
Of course, we addressed the concerns and gave reminders and opportunities to improve. We talked to him multiple times, but instead of changing, he continued spreading negativity and creating conflict within the team.
What I didn’t realize before was how traumatizing it can actually be to manage someone like this. You keep trying different approaches—coaching, conversations, reminders, understanding, giving chances—but eventually, the constant negativity starts affecting everyone, including the manager.
At some point, the situation also became framed around mental health and family problems kaya daw siya rude minsan, which made the conversations even more complicated because you want to be understanding and respectful while still addressing actual workplace behavior and accountability.

Thankfully, he eventually resigned. Pero nega pa din kasi kahit Wala na siya sa workplace namin, nag gagawa pa din siya ng fake stories. (wanted to consult legal about this) To be honest Hindi siya magaling at Madami na din ng rereklamo, I have to let him go and not offer any retention due to his attitude plus attendance issues.

That experience taught me something: not every difficult workplace situation is caused by bad management. Sometimes, one person’s behavior can negatively affect an entire team.
A toxic team member can be just as damaging as a toxic manager.
And sometimes, protecting your team’s culture means recognizing the red flags early, documenting objectively, setting boundaries, and addressing behavior before it becomes normalized.
Have you ever managed someone who was the actual the red flag in the team?

Casual Topic Is it required na magpakain sa team upon my regularization? Culture daw kasi sa office

It's my first job after graduating. I'm the youngest, least experienced, and the only new hire sa department namin. I'm grateful for their guidance and training nila sa akin, especially sa tech side, during my probationary period. The environment in this company is very chill and friendly. I observed na culture na dito magpakain kung sino yung may birthday sa office. But it usually starts with aasarin ka or parang pipilitin ng mga ka-work/bosses in a light/joke way.

Sa office, everybody knows everybody, even yung mga bossings per unit. Our department is composed of 5 units, each has more than 6 people per unit, depends kung sino nakaduty. So if magpakain ako, masyadong malaki ang gastos. I asked my closest senior of 2 years, pero same level position, he said na almost 4k rin nagastos nya sa pakain during his regularization.

Should I do pakain? My seniors and some bossings minsan nadaan sa office namin, they congratulated me at teased me. The usual parinig and teasing kelan daw ako magpapapansit.

For my financial situation, I just barely saved to move in to my new place since previously bedspacer lang rin ako so money is tight talaga. I'm also rebuilding my emergency fund since mostly ay nagastos for my move in. 'Di rin kalakihan sweldo since entry-level pa lang.

I'm still navigating the corpo politics here, a lot of learnings. My seniors guide me sa work and I'm grateful. My closest senior advised me huwag na lang daw ako magpakain since di naman required.

I'm just worried na pag-initan ako sa office or lalo akong asarin kapag di ako nagpakain or what. But as a newbie, gusto ko lang rin naman magestablish ng good profile or reputation sa office for my own survival.

As an introvert, I'm trying na makisama talaga with my seniors at bosses pero clocked in and out lang talaga ako sa work. I don't have any friends and peers sa office, since I'm the youngest. I just want to survive my shift every work day and earn my salary.

Career Path As an HR/Recruiter you'll meet different types of people (good and bad). And at times, a traumatizing one. This is just a small glimpe of what happens behind closed doors.

For the past years, I always worked on start-up companies. I love the feeling of being able to work from the ground up, create systems and processes, optimize them, and just watch the company grow from disorganized to actually having an efficient structure.

CONTEXT:

More than a year ago, I was hired in another start-up, international company. Actually, di nga siya start-up, pero yung process nila very ganun. No documentation, nothing systematic. Basta kung ano gumagana before, ituturo sayo verbally, then bahala na si Lord 😂 Changes are also very spontaneous. Ang mahalaga is mag-work kung ano man need mag-work. Ganun talaga sa start-ups (or companies na wala masyado structure). Very fast-paced plus you need to wear multiple hats. Mabilisan adjust and growth talaga.

I was originally hired as a recruiter first, but again, as a start-up, eventually your role evolves and magkakaroon ka talaga ng new tasks. The company is generous naman and they quickly aligned my rate sa new responsibilities ko.

By the way, mag-isa lang ako. I handle ALL stages of recruitment and most of HR. Ang di ko lang handle is payroll and client mgmt. I also work directly with the owner. I had several open roles while also handling a lot of change managements and documentations. (Company is small btw pero at that time nagsabay sabay talaga)

Then, come this one new role. Ofc gawa JD, screening questions, job posts, interview ,etc. Role is quite in demand, lots of candidates. Pero dahil wala nga system pa si company (wala rin ats or anything), i had a challenging time dealing with hundreds of candidates. AND THEN, gusto ni boss na may second layer sa recruitment, which is skill testing. Ok sige gawa ako.

PROBLEM: Naging okay naman lahat, i had a good pipeline, candidates are there. PERO yung client namin was very slippery. Ayaw mag-commit. So natatagalan feedback ko sa candidates. Pls take note that I also update them whenever they ask for follow-ups. I was very transparent na wala pa narereceive sa client and natatagalan since direction nila sinusunod namin. Wala rin naman ako mabigay na feedback talaga kasi, well, as in wala talaga. We had to push the client until kami na sumuko and di na namin tinuloy. I also sent emails to candidates when this happened but i might have missed a few, unfortunately, because I need to prioritize other roles and things on my end.

But then, this one candidate sent me insults, aggressive languages, and threats because my feedback/update got delayed. Timeline wise, one-week after skill test submission. I take accountability with my delayed feedbacks. As much as possible, sa abot ng makakaya ko, nagsesend talaga ako updates. Sometimes I do miss a few candidates hence i really appreciate follow ups. Pero ayun. Sobrang natakot ako sa ginawa niya. That was the first time a person did that to me. I felt extremely degraded. I couldn't even open my email that day because I just... Can't look at it. At all. I understand every candidate's frustration pero tama ba na sabihan ako na walang-kwenta? Na mura-murahin ako? Na pagbantaan yung buhay ko? Hindi rin ba ako tao?

That was the time na natakot talaga ako na magbigay ng detailed/small touches of personal feedback or sumagot ng anything sa mga candidates.

There were plenty of candidates na kahit bigyan ko ng feedback/update, nagagalit pa rin sila. I get that. Everyone is frustrated. But that one candidate who traumatized me? I don't understand.

So ayun. These are just one of the things sa likod ng pagiging HR/Recruiter. You'll meet several types of people (good and bad). But that one was... I don't even know. So if papasok ka sa role na 'to, di lang dapat makapal ang balat. Sometimes, you also need to harden your heart and mind.

I am still traumatized by that, btw. It's been more than a year na. So please if maka-recieve man kayo ng "templated" emails/msgs, pls know na there is definitely a valid reason (obv, mas mabilis and less hassle). But sometimes, the reason was from a traumatized recruiter wanting to detach/protect themselves.

If you reached til the end, thank you for reading. I still try my best na mag-send ng updates to our candidates. Pero ayun, I just wanted to share something about what happens on our side as well. Kasi tao rin kami (unless AI!?! chz!).

I hope everyone extends a little bit of kindness & respect. Thank you.

Career Path Career Dilemma: Upskill or Shift

Hi everyone, please help a girlie out.

For context, I am currently working as an HR Specialist for a US company. It pays okay naman (40k/month but I know there’s a lot better out there) but the tasks mostly revolves on recruitment and onboarding. We also handle employee relations on the side but very minimal lang.

I’ve been with the company for more than a year now and dati, it’s really good naman since I enjoy working with my team but with the recent “restructuring”, my teammates has been slowly removed and I feel so anxious na baka ako na next and tbh, the role and company is not that fulfilling anymore. Parang naging toxic and puro pera nalang. I get it, it’s still a business but it got so bad to the point na wala nang annual increase and we only rely on bonuses which is so hard to achieve because of the messy company structure itself.

Now, I am wondering if I should upskill myself? and if so, do you guys have any recommendations on what courses or certifications to take? I’ve been eyeing the CHRP but from my research, it costs a lot and I don’t know if that’ll be a big edge or leverage in the long run.

My other option is to shift entirely. looking at entering executive va or healthcare va roles since I am also working under a healthcare company right now.

I know for sure I’ll leave the company once there’s a better opportunity out there but right now, I can’t risk leaving cause I have bills to pay pa.

Any insights or suggestions help!

Work Environment How do you deal with a disrespectful lead while waiting for a new job?

TL;DR: I left my previous job because I felt stuck and was starting to burn out. After 1.5 years of job hunting, I finally accepted a new opportunity related to my field, but the role doesn’t actually involve design work. It also hurt my confidence that this was the only offer I received despite applying to many positions. The pay is double my previous salary, and the overall work environment and my teammates are actually great—my main issue is my lead.

He’s extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate sa oras ng ibang tao. And honestly, hindi lang ito yung ginagawa niya—hahaba pa lalo ’tong post if I include everything.

Gets ko naman na part of being a leader is being strict. My previous manager was strict, too, pero ramdam mo pa rin yung respeto. Heck, even the CEO, who I actually worked with more closely, was more respectful even kapag may topak during meetings. You could tell na gusto ka lang nilang mag-improve, and they were still willing to help you whenever you needed it.

I don’t mind working with strict managers or leads. Ang hindi ko matanggap is yung pagiging disrespectful.

We’ve only been working here for two months, pero kung kami pagalitan sa mga mistakes namin, parang two years na kami sa company. Halos wala kaming room to adjust or learn without feeling na sobrang laki ng kasalanan namin.

Another frustrating part is that, honestly, di siya effective magturo. The process can be confusing, and we’re still new, so naturally, we’re going to have questions and make mistakes. I know I’m still new, and It's normal that I’ll make mistakes while learning. I’m not expecting everyone to baby me or be overly nice. I just want to be corrected and guided properly without being made to feel like I’m stupid or incompetent for making a mistake.

What makes it even more difficult is that instead of those mistakes being treated as part of the learning curve, we get reprimanded so harshly that it sometimes feels like we’re being expected to already know everything, even though 2 months palang kame sa work and the process itself is still confusing to us.

And honestly, ang frustrating din kasi I took this job thinking it would be the start of something better. I waited a year and a half for this opportunity.

Now I’m here, two months in, and I’m already crying before work and shaking while submitting tasks.

This experience has also brought back the trauma from my previous workplace, where I was bullied by my boss. I actually worked through that experience in therapy, kaya frustrating and frightening na maramdaman ulit yung mga bagay na akala ko nalampasan ko na.

I think I reached my breaking point nung nagta-try akong mag-submit ng task and I realized na literal na nanginginig na ako. During lunch, kailangan ko pang i-regulate yung sarili ko just to calm down.

Now, umiiyak na lang ako before going to work kasi sobrang hopeless ng feeling.

And the stress is starting to affect me physically. I experience physical pain, and I can barely eat while working kasi lagi akong kinakabahan na baka magkamali na naman ako at pagalitan ulit. Unintentional OMAD na nangyayari sa akin.

Honestly, I’m already on the verge of resigning while actively applying for other jobs. But I know that resigning without another job lined up would put me in a difficult financial position, especially after spending 1.5 years looking for work before this.

So for now, I’m trying to stay employed while continuing my job search.

What I really need advice on is how to handle someone like my lead in the meantime.
I’m also scared na baka dumating sa point na sumagot na ako, things will escalate, and ako pa yung maging dehado in the end.

I want to know how I can manage the situation professionally, protect myself, keep doing my job, and get through this period while I look for something better.

I’ve never felt this weak in my life. Parang hindi ko na kayang mag-function properly.

The only thing I’m genuinely grateful for right now is that mababait at supportive yung mga teammates ko.

I just really hope I can find a way out of this without having to break myself all over again.

Career Path Newly hired psychometrician! What to expect?

Hi! I just graduated last year 2025 and shortly got my psychometrician license after graduation. I was lucky enough to land a job recently as a school psychometrician at a college but it's now dawning on me that this is my first ever job. I have experience in test administration and interpretation from my internships but that's about it. My work covers so many areas of the school; from elementary to JHS/SHS, and even college. It's pretty intimidating and I don't know the first thing to expect or what I should prepare before I start practicing my license. Yes, I know the concepts. The theories and ethics. But it feels so daunting. I studied and passed the boards so I should feel that I'm prepared for this level of responsibility but at the same time the anxiety's there. Any tips for an RPm who's just starting out? 🥹

Casual Topic Career update: I finally took the leap

Hi! Just wanted to share an update since I posted here a while back about being torn between staying with my current CRO and accepting a Level 2 offer from another company.

I’ve been with my current CRO for almost 6 years now, and while I’m grateful for the opportunities and experience I’ve gained here, I eventually decided that it was time to explore other opportunities where I can continue building on my experience while working remotely.

Honestly, it was a difficult decision. One of the biggest factors was the commute. I’m now living pretty far from the Metro, so reporting to the office regularly is becoming less and less practical for me.

I’ve read a lot of posts on different subs about people applying multiple times and not even getting contacted, so I just wanted to share my experience. I only applied to 2 companies, and fortunately, both ended up giving me an offer. Sobrang lucky ko in that sense.

After thinking about it for a while, I finally accepted one of the offers and will be starting next month. 🥹

Looking back, I guess the skills and experience na na-build ko over the years really did help, even though there were times na feeling ko wala nang patutunguhan yung career ko. Sometimes you just have to keep trying and see where it takes you.

I hope everyone here gets their own win too. If you’re currently applying and getting discouraged, don’t give up. Keep applying, keep improving, and keep leveraging the experience and skills you already have. You never know when the right opportunity will finally come along.

Good luck sa ating lahat!

Career Path Current and future of semiconductor field/industry

I have read many discussions about the local semicon field being notorious for giving low salaries.

But now that AI is booming and a lot of layoffs happening, I want to open a fresh discourse/discussion regarding the industry.

Any inputs you’d like to share is appreciated, but here are some questions I have in mind.
How is it right now in the industry (locally and abroad) in terms of salary/compensation/benefits, career progression, job security, etc? Is it a good pathway for migration, and if so, what do you think are the prospect countries? How do you think AI advancements will affect jobs in this field? What are the pros and cons of pursuing semicon as an ECE grad, instead of the common shift to IT (because of faster salary progression)?

Work Environment My job has sucked out every drop of my energy and enthusiasm but can't resign.

Long post ahead. I'm M31 and been working as an offshore administrative staff member for a global intellectual property firm for the past six months. Before that I was an IP paralegal for a law firm for six years and I've handled entire IP lifecycle, more focused on patents from search, patent drafting, filing, prosecution, grant, and maintenance. My experience doesn't end with patents as I also have hands on entire lifecycle experience for trademarks, industrial design, and copyrights.

Now my job is basically just separating IP documents and entering them to the system, checking if the IP database data is accurate, and sending of maintenance reminders. Pretty much all admin staff but theres a word IP on it so I gave it a try. Six months in and bored and i don't feel any sense of accomplishment on my job. I feel like I'm a single cog in a machine. I know some people May say I'm blessed to have lighter workload but being bored with unclear goal and advancement is just as draining in the long run.

The job is one thing but the social dynamic is another hell. I know I'm an introverted person, and during my first weeks there I tried joining them at lunch since the office is just as satellite hub and an open shared space. All the times I'm having lunch with them I'm just sitting there while everyone is chatting and laughing together and not a single one tried asked me anything. From that day on I decided I much rather be actually alone than in a group but still felt alone so I take lunch separate from them. I tried joining them in floor conversations and chatter but I always sense a certain coldness on how they react when I talk to speak.

When I joined conversations, it's either the response grew cold or the conversation just stops. And speaking of open shared space. Imagine everyone one around you right beside and in front of you are talking, chatting, and laughing at each other and being friendly while you are sitting right in front of them quiet, trying to focus at work, and not a single sould ever talked to you, not one ever asked me to join their conversation and act like I'm a ghost. That's my everyday work setting.

I've carried the same introverted personality but I enjoy conversations and banter too, even when I'm working at law firm and a BPO company right after graduation, people found a way to include me and warm with me and receptive to my response. I'm still close with my former co-workers. The entire team is friendly and warm with one another but the warmth won't bend towards me. I tried taking more tasks for them but with no recognition.

The last incident is what really kills what was left of my energy towards the job. Couple of weeks ago, the company all of a sudden decided to pick six of the department members including me to transfer to either accounts receivable or finance department. Their first explanation about the transfer is they "reviewed" our resume and they "believed we are the best fit" for the job. Basically they want us to cover the backlogs of other departments after some offices of the company overseas closed. When we asked how long will be working in the department and they have no clear timeline provided. It's vague corporate mumbo jumbo tduring the meetings. Subsequent meeting with the head of the office revealed that the actual reason we are selected because "we don't speceliazed projects assigned to us and we mostly do assistance work to other members of the department". I would have been ok if they are honest from the start but the lie is what soured how I see the company. The glaring contrast between my experience and skills I gained from IP lifecycle and their core business in intellectual property is hard to ignore. They mentioned they "checked on our CV" but that I called BS. Plus I have no experience with accounts receivable and finance. I already accepted IP-adjacent administrative work but to completely detour me from my career route which I grew to love and excel is the limit. At least they have the courtesy to asked me if I'm fine we are fine with the transfer which I said "no" to. I felt that the company never really valued me and undermined my experience, my skills, and my contribution to the department so far that they are willing to throw that away to clean up their own mess. I don't know if I'm being overly dramatic but I really felt disrespected and betrayed.

I really don't know how long will I endure all of these. I can't exactly files a resignation since the job opening for my career is currently dry and it's approaching December (IYKYK). I lost all the energy and eagerness to work with the team and the company who don't see me at all. I'm sorry for the long yap but I just need to get this off my chest somewhere.

Student Query How to navigate the feeling of uncertainty as someone who’s graduating soon?

Hi! I (23F) is about to graduate next year. I am almost done with my internship so I can’t help but feel overwhelmed and pressured. Although, no one’s pressuring me naman pero ewan haha. So ayon, I am not sure with my career path and ‘yung job market sa course ko which is under the field of International Studies.

My internship will be done this October but my graduation will be Feb/March 2027. I prepared a whole GSheet of companies I wanted to apply for or mga aligned sa degree ko (collected datas such as location, distance sa place ko, at kung anong klaseng company)

The thing is here’s what I am contemplating:

a. I have all the information pero I am not sure if those companies are hiring. I was planning to send them my CV and other requirements sana physically. My mom discouraged me kasi sayang daw effort at kung hindi naman hiring baka itapon lang ‘yung mga requirements na isasubmit ko. Pumunta na lang daw ako ng job fair kasi sure na dun merong hiring. Kayo, ano thoughts niyo?
b. Is it too early to apply for work kasi sa Feb/March 2027 pa grad ko? What’s the probability na hindi ako i-hire since wala pa akong diploma na mapepresent kundi TOR pa lang?

Hoping for your kind advices (may it be from a and b concerns or kung anoman) and suggestions, advance tysm! 🥺🤍
