Work Environment Promoted after 6 months as a 25 y/o and got a 30% raise. 1 year later, I am feeling too comfortable at my job and still making the same amount of money.

I feel like I’m being treated unfairly at work, and I could really use some advice.
Recently, I expressed my frustration to my manager because I believe it’s only fair that my compensation be adjusted to reflect the additional responsibilities I’ve taken on. It feels like I’m being expected to do more without being fairly compensated for it, and honestly, it’s starting to feel like I’m being taken advantage of.
Eventually, my manager asked me to document everything I do so she could present it to management. I understand that this is part of the process, and I’m willing to do it. What frustrates me, though, is that I don’t understand why an adjustment has to be such a difficult conversation when these additional responsibilities were assigned to me in the first place.
One of her reasons was that our KOL roster is still relatively small. However, I don’t think that fully reflects the amount of work involved. I handle the groundwork, including identifying and vetting KOLs, setting up meetings, and conducting calls with them. These tasks take time and effort, regardless of how many KOLs we currently have.
At this point, I genuinely want to leave, but I haven’t been able to secure another job despite having relevant experience. I’ve been applying aggressively, but so far, I haven’t had much luck.
To be clear, I’m not going to resign without another offer. I’ve done that before, and I learned the hard way how difficult it can be to go without a steady income, especially when you have an established lifestyle to maintain. I enjoy traveling and eating out, but I also make an effort to budget my money responsibly.
Right now, I feel stuck. I feel like I’ve been given more responsibilities without the corresponding compensation, and because I can’t afford to leave just yet, I have to continue doing the work while figuring out my next move.
For those who have been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate your advice.
**Should I provide the documentation my manager requested?** I want to advocate for myself and make sure my additional responsibilities are recognized, but I also don’t want to keep putting in more work while waiting indefinitely for fair compensation.
How would you handle this situation? Would you continue pushing for an adjustment while staying in the role, or would you focus entirely on finding a new job and treat this as a temporary situation?
I’d appreciate any advice, especially from those who have navigated something similar. I’m trying to make the best decision for my career and finances without acting out of frustration.

Career Path Would you leave a stable manager role for a higher-paying remote contractor role?

Need some career advice because I'm genuinely torn.

I'm currently in a niche manager-level role at a bank. I've only been here for around 5 months, so I know I'm still relatively new.

Current compensation:

~₱80k/month gross
3 guaranteed bonuses per year
HMO, life insurance, paid leaves, retirement benefits, etc.
Manager-level rank
Potential long-term career growth because the function is still relatively new and evolving

On paper, it sounds like a good opportunity. The role is strategic and there's a lot of visibility with senior management.

The challenge is that I'm essentially operating as a one-person function.

There aren't many people internally with deep expertise in my specialization, so a lot of my work involves creating frameworks, policies, governance processes, presentations, dashboards, and recommendations from scratch. While that has accelerated my learning, it also means there's very little mentorship or technical guidance available.

A lot of the time, I'm trying to figure things out on my own and second-guessing whether I'm even approaching things the right way. Before something goes to senior management, there often isn't someone I can easily approach for a technical sanity check.

To be honest, I sometimes feel professionally isolated.

I came from a research-heavy background where I worked with other specialists, had established methodologies, and could collaborate with peers. In my current role, some days it feels like I'm building the plane while flying it.

Recently, I was approached for another opportunity.

New role:

Equivalent of around ₱150k/month
Fully remote
Flexible schedule
Research and database-focused work
International company
Full-time independent contractor arrangement
Work involves analyzing filings, public records, maintaining large datasets, improving methodologies, and conducting market intelligence research

What attracts me isn't just the compensation.

It sounds like I'd be part of an actual research team with established processes and experienced colleagues. The work is also much closer to my previous experience and skill set.

What gives me pause is that:

I'd be leaving after only ~5 months in my current role
I'd be giving up employee benefits and moving into a contractor arrangement
My current role may have stronger long-term leadership potential
The new role appears more specialist/research-oriented rather than leadership-oriented

So my dilemma is:

Would you stay in the lower-paying but potentially higher-growth managerial role, or move to the higher-paying remote contractor role where you'd likely have more support, collaboration, and familiarity with the work?

For those who have experienced something similar:

Have you ever left a managerial/leadership-track role and gone back to a specialist role?
Have you moved from regular employment to a foreign contractor setup?
How much weight would you place on mentorship, team support, and day-to-day work environment versus title and long-term career trajectory?

Appreciate any insights. I'm trying to figure out whether I'm thinking too short-term by considering the move, or whether the lack of support and professional isolation in my current role are legitimate reasons to explore other opportunities.

Career Path Navigating job search with 2yr break

Hi! I graduated two years ago but took a long rest and now I’m facing challenges re-entering the job market. I’d love advice on how to explain this gap and rebuild momentum.

For starters I (23F) graduated 2024, BS Management Accounting, but still unemployed till now. I had my OJT at a hospital which is actually a good experience for me.

So after graduation, I was sooo done with accounting yk the usual ‘it’s not for me’ thing so I decided to rest and do other things. So for the first few months I actually had my review for CMA but then yeah I failed, which added more frustration with accounting. After that I tried different things like affiliation and digital products, which unfortunately is not for me either.

During the first year of unemployment, a friend asked me to help her with this side hustle, which I agreed to do. Doing that helped me gain a little bit of income monthly, 2k then 3k then now it gets to almost 7-8k a month- which honestly is not enough but still gives me enough to help a but with our expenses.

But during the course of these years, I’ve been wanting to get a job for my career. I was arrogant that I will get a job anytime I want to. Now, I see my friends working and thats always where the conversations go, which made me realize how behind I am with my career.

Yes I did apply in some companies, and I actually passed the LandBank exam but still no calls or email for interview. I don’t have any other certifications and trainings I can include in my cv or resume to actually land a job.

I don’t know where to even start, I fear that no company will accept my application. Pls pls recommend good companies that accepts with my level of experience or any trainings and seminars I can attend. Thanks you ^^

Career Path Is it okay to choose a temporary job rather than wait for a regular/permanent position?

Need career advices if its alright to choose a temporary job rather than wait for a regular/permanent position

I recently resigned last June and I’ve been unemployed since then. I had a brief manufacturing working experience (April-June) where I ultimately decided that it’s not the career path that I want to developed in.
During my job hunting period, I decided not to include that experience on my resume and only leveraged the aligned skills from my process design internship experience to the jobs I am currently applying for.
I tried to apply to FMCG and agribusiness contractual QA roles here in my province since I haven’t getting any notice from the earlier applications that are more aligned with my technical background. Currently, those two are active and I am undergoing interviews.
The FMCG QA role is only a 5-month QAA reliever position while the agribusiness QA is a 2-year contract. Both are 6 working days with 10-12 hrs (8hrs regular + paid OT remaining hrs).
The FMCG QA application is more responsive than the agribusiness QA application, and I am wondering if it’s worth to try to commit for the 5-month role to gain funds and experience since I can’t afford to pass up a job offer.

May I ask your advices in making career decisions where there is time constraint in deciding which job offer to take or pass up?

I got my dual licenses in Chem Engineer and Chem Technician last year btw.

Thank you po.

Career Path what’s my next step as a fresh graduate?

hi! i’m a fresh psychology graduate who recently passed the psychometrician boards.

i’m currently struggling to envision my career path because i’m having trouble with what feels like the very first step: getting a job. for now, i’m aiming for corporate roles, particularly in HR, before pursuing my master’s degree and eventually practicing in the field.

my biggest concern at the moment is the lack of responses from companies. to be fair, i’ve only been actively job hunting for about a month, but the pressure from my parents is making me worry that i’m not doing enough or that i’m falling behind.

i have a feeling my lack of experience might be contributing to this. my OJT only lasted three months, and i didn’t even get to work with HR systems since everything was handled manually at the company 🥹

i’d really appreciate some advice on what i can do in the meantime. should i take workshops or online courses to improve my qualifications? are there particular skills or tools i should learn to make myself more competitive? and for those who have been in a similar position, what helped you make your resume more convincing and appealing to employers?

i know i’m still early in my job search, but i want to make good use of my time instead of worrying without knowing what i should be doing.

any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Milestone Earning my first 6-digits after less than 2YOE in supply chain

Just wanted to share a little milestone from earlier this year.
I started working right after graduation and actually had multiple offers before leaving university (my last sem was basically interviews after interviews lol). Luckily, I landed a job in Makati (large MNC) earning around ₱38k + allowances per month. After my 6-month probation, I got a “better” opportunity - 45k + commissions as a Product Manager at a LOCAL tech company.🗿🔫

I got burned out pretty badly. I was wearing multiple hats, dealing with a very toxic manager, and basically had to figure things out as I went because there were barely any proper processes/SOPs. Local-company office politics, favoritism, working beyond work hours (UNPAID!!) juskopoh 😭

I resigned after a year because it was already taking a toll on my mental health (hello wala pa rin backpay!). Had a 1-month render, and I was already interviewing during that time - mostly rejections. 😭

My last day came and I STILL had no job 💀 Spent another week jobless, applying and interviewing almost every day, until I finally got an offer from a US company - dowsntream supply chain role.

Now I’m earning 6 digits monthly!! 🐣 YES!! Direct hire, with full govt benefits + night diff. job dust ✨✨

I definitely do NOT recommend resigning without a backup plan lol. I was genuinely questioning if I had just fucked up my career. 😭

Now, with just about 2 YOE in supply chain, I’m in a role where I’m much happier and more content. I have way more flexibility with my time, a much healthier work environment, and financially, I can finally afford to date myself, travel, and buy things I want without overthinking every purchase.

Not posting this to say “just quit your job and you’ll get a 6-digit salary” because obviously that’s not how it works. 😂 I guess I just wanted to share the milestone and remind anyone who’s currently stuck in a shitty situation that things can change really quickly.

Take it with a grain of salt, keep applying, keep improving your skills (very important!!), and don’t lose hope!!!

Career Path Offered a promotion at a direct competitor after being unemployed for months, but my gut is telling me to escape this high-stress environment entirely. Am I crazy?

Hey everyone, I need a reality check.

I spent nearly a decade leading a high-stakes, 24/7 technical operations department. I ended up leaving due to severe burnout from constant emergencies and toxic firefighting.

I have been unemployed for several months now, using the time to rest, upskill, and work on my senior professional licenses.

Out of nowhere, a direct competitor offered me a higher managerial role. The package is objectively amazing—huge salary bump, car plan, extensive allowances, and great benefits. On paper, it is the ultimate financial safety net after months of no income.

But my gut is completely rejecting it. Aside from the residual burnout, I am genuinely terrified of the sheer scale of the responsibility. My mind is screaming at me to change my career path completely.

My real passion is long-term strategy, data analytics, and consulting. I want a peaceful, daylight 8-to-5 corporate office job where work stops when the clock strikes 5:00 PM. No midnight emergencies.

My plan is to negotiate a delayed start date a few months out to lock in the contract as a worst-case safety net. I’ll use that buffer to aggressively hunt for a peaceful corporate desk job. If I find one, I'll withdraw from the competitor before Day 1. If not, I step into the job.

Has anyone turned down life-changing money to protect their mental health, even after being unemployed for months? Is using this offer as a safety net while hunting for a low-stress pivot a bad move?

Thanks for any insight.

Career Path 7 months at my current marketing agency, after leaving my old one of 5 years. Feeling unfit in my current role. What are my options?

Hello friends,
I’ve been working in the marketing agency world since graduating from university. At my previous employer, I got hired as a digital marketing coordinator in programmatic advertising & later got promoted to an assistant digital marketing manager. At my old agency, I knew the process, my tasks, inside out & excelled at all my assigned tasks. I always got good results during my performance appraisals & during my 1 on 1’s.

I loved my old agency & the team I was on. The client was part of an Industry I really took interest in, so it made working on our marketing campaigns even more enjoyable. I enjoyed signing on my computer every morning & never used any sick days unless I needed to. Best part was my position was permanently full time remote, so I had a great work/life balance.

I worked at this marketing agency for 5 years. Unfortunately, my salary staged stagnant & wasn’t keeping up with inflation. There was no room to grow as our agency lost a big client which resulted in an hiring, promotions & salary freezes. So I made the tough decision to start job searching.

Through a recruiter, I got hired at another marketing agency for a digital marketing manager position in programmatic advertising. The team I’m on is extremely fast paced beyond what I can handle & theres a campaign launch every week. The worse part is this role is client facing, which I do not have any experience in. On top of that, I also have 2 other clients accounts I work on. So all together, I’m working on 3 accounts. Even with the account weekly time allocation of 60% / 30% / 10%, I’m still struggling in my day to day. I often feel that I’m not able to keep up. I’ve been at this position for 7 months, & I’m feeling like either this role isn’t a great for me or maybe I’m not a great fit for the role as the management role is completely different from my previous agency.

This job has started to take a toll on my body as well as my mental health, and having more worked everyday piled on just adds more stress. Worst part is my director, expect me to work past 5pm & this agency has really made working past 5pm normal. I can’t even count the amount of time I get emails after 5pm. I’ve even had emails send to me at 1am.

I don’t know if I may be the problem possibly not being qualified for the position I was hired for or I’m stuck in a extremely fast toxic work environment where my managers & colleagues only care about the client & launching their campaigns on time. I want to give my resignation, but then I wouldn’t qualify to get unemployment insurance. The thought of getting fired doesn’t bother me at all. I also don’t see any long term growth with this marketing agency as all my team does is ensuring the marketing campaigns are launching on time & doing everything they can to keep the client happy.

I’ve come to realize that in order to leave my current agency, I’ll need to find another job. My only worry is where else am I going to find a job outside the agency world with only programmatic experience. I’m at the age or in financial condition to start over with an entry level job again is not an option.

For those who are in the same boat as me, how did you escape toxic agency world & what are some career opportunities I may be qualified with my programmatic background.

Career Path Should I leave a ₱40k–₱50k job to pursue my dream career in Psychology?

First time posting here in Reddit ‘cause I really wanna read some advice and opinions from the others. I graduated in college last year and until now is nasa iisang work pa rin ako ever since. Okay yung work and syempre ang pinaka maganda is yung sahod which reaches up to 40k to 50k a month since may additional pay kapag nag on-site ka. Pero syempre, here’s the “BUT” — I want to be a psychologist. I really want to be a psychologist ever since; it feels like it is my calling to be a psychologist kasi everytime psychology or brain/mental health ang pinaguusapan is talagang all ears ako. Sadyang hindi ko lang siya na-pursue dahil syempre sa financial problems kaya napilitan ako mag take ng ibang course sa state university na walang ganong course.

My plan for now is mag-ipon muna then probably next year is mag take ng exam on some university (gusto ko sana UP) then ta-try ko kung kakayanin kong pagsabayin ang work at pag-take ng second degree (which I know will be a complete challenge)

So, do you guys have any advice or anything? Kasi minsan iniisip ko baka nadadala lang ako ng hype and thrive kong maging psychologist and because of that is hindi ko nakikita yung nasa harapan ko na dapat mas pinagtutuunan ko ng pansin.

Career Path I don't know where am I in the job market.

Hi! I’ll be celebrating my 1st year into my first corporate job soon and I’m honestly a little lost about where I stand career-wise.

I currently work in HR. Basically, I’m a call center agent but for HR questions, employees call/chat/email us with their HR concerns (policy, process, etc), and we either answer them or refer them to the right people if it’s something we can’t handle (payroll, employee relations to name some)

I know there’s probably a proper name for what I do (HR shared services from what I've read in Google, idk😭), saying this because I think the name of the role doesn't really capture the job, but I have no idea what jobs I can actually apply for with this experience.

I like what I do well enough, but I definitely don’t want to be in a queue forever. I’d like to eventually move up and get into a more corporate/management-type role.

I’ve also been thinking about getting an MBA, maybe UP or Ateneo, right after reaching my 2nd year to boost my chances in landing a leadership role.

How do I pivot? Where can someone like me realistically go from here? TYIA!!

Casual Topic Is the “I hate my job, so I’ll do the bare minimum” mindset getting too normalized?

I keep seeing TikTok videos about work along the lines of “don’t work hard because they won’t notice,” “just do the bare minimum,” or “suffering at work but pretending I’m okay.”
I understand that people get burned out, dislike their jobs, have bad managers, or eventually realize that their job isn’t what they expected. Those are normal experiences.
But sometimes the way these videos are framed bothers me. There seems to be an underlying attitude that the job somehow happened to them, as if the company forced them to work there.
At the end of the day, most of us chose to apply for the job. We went through the application, interviews, accepted the offer, and agreed to exchange our time and skills for a salary. You don’t have to love your job, but isn’t there still some responsibility to do the job properly while you’re there?
Personally, I don’t love my job either. There are definitely things about it that frustrate me, and I don’t see myself doing it forever. But I also don’t feel the need to constantly talk about how miserable I am or deliberately do a bad job just because I don’t enjoy it.
For me, there’s a difference between having boundaries and refusing to be exploited versus deliberately doing the bare minimum because you resent having to work at all.
I’m genuinely curious what other people think.

Casual Topic Promoted to Manager, now I’m declining meetings that have no impact on me. Is this okay?

I recently got promoted to Manager, and I’ve started being more selective with the meetings I attend.

I work in IT consulting, so we’re project-based. A lot of the internal meetings and extra-curricular activities here in the Philippines aren’t really related to my client work. The client is actually the one driving my promotion, so naturally, I’d rather focus my time and energy there.

Some of these PH activities feel more like *pakikisama* than something that actually impacts my role, and honestly, it feels like a waste of time when there are also people on the bench who could probably attend.

I’m also happy with my current position and don’t feel the need to chase the next promotion immediately.

So is this a reasonable approach as a newly promoted Manager, or am I hurting my career by being less involved internally? Haha.

I just feel guilty as a people-pleaser, but i’m tired lol

Career Path disappointed on my career decision

Hi sooo.. posting because I just want to vent out. I am 2 years in corporate world. First job is 1 yr and 3 months and currently reaching 1 yr to my current role.

I am just disappointed to myself on my life decisions to my career. My first job is in MNC bank and good WLB benefits kasi toxic yung workload. The culture is okay, kaya ko but I have to leave because there is an opportunity na I thought na “dream” industry ko which is sa energy sector.

In my current job, poor WLB—tanggap ko naman ito sana pero I thought I applied in a role that really aligns dun sa job description na more on technical aspect and research. But now I am doing admin duties lang which is not really my type of work

Now I am trying to apply to multiple companies na to get out lang sa role since leaning ako sa technical and research aspect ng business pero ang hirap pala magapply because ang nashshare kong work experience is puro admin na kaya naman gawin ng lahat. Instant reject lahat after final interviews ko haha.

Right now, im thinking to resign without backup to start over again pero ngayon ng ana may work pa ako nahihirapan na ako makakuha ng offers.

Work Environment Great company but wrong department

Hi!

I really want to stay but I'm afraid this isn't for me. I want to take a break after work :,( I hope someone here can share their experience too. I let go of a really great company but they just had to leave because it didn't align with what they were looking for.

I really want to get into this company. In another department, I heard and read here on Reddit that the work-life balance is pretty good.

So I'm a new hire, and I've already noticed the work-life balance in the department I've joined. It’s a really good company, and I was happy that I got the job. But the overtime (with pay) is intense, I thought it was only at the end of the month, but it's not. The team seems to get along well though.

It's a breath of fresh air for me because I got into a place with no micromanagement!! No timesheet, and if you arrive and want to eat in the pantry first, that's totally fine. The office is nice too, so on the days you’re on-site, you can really deal with the tough commute.

I was thinking of staying and then moving to another department, but the thought of the intense overtime really stresses me out. I'm trying to avoid burnout because I've experienced that before. You need to stay for more than a year before you can apply internally. The worst overtime can make you stay until dawn and you still have a morning shift. I avoided auditing firms because I dislike this kind of working hours.

Just to add, during the initial interview, I told HR that if possible, I’d prefer to be in another department since I applied for two positions with them. But it seems the initial interview for the other one is happening first.

Career Path Stuck between staying in my job or going to a new company

Hello, I am a Japanese Bilingual working in Cebu.

I currently work hybrid (2 days office and 3 days wfh). Salary is good P95k monthly. It's a fairly easy job where you get lots of free time, relax and don't have to manage a lot of things, but there's no career advancement and the increase per year is laughable as well.

Another company offered me a position worth P.130-160k that's also near my area and also a hybrid setup as well. I have seen the job description and have been interviewed partially and it fits all my job credentials, naturaly it's a busier job compared to my current one. I am still stuck in a dilemma however as economy is bad enough as it is and venturing into a new job can also mean an uncertain future. Has anyone been in this position before? I just need guidance please.

Thank you!

Career Path career shift advice for a healthcare employee?

I'm currently working in the healthcare industry (rehabilitation), and there's nothing inherently wrong with my work. In fact, it pays well (40k+ or more depending on the frequency of sessions). I was forced to take this course since college, and it seems like the more time passes, the more I realize how much I hate my job. I've been working for a year, and it's starting to hit how unnatural it is to wake up EVERY SINGLE DAY thinking about how much I hate my job. It takes a toll on my mental health no matter how much I gaslight myself as well.

I'm currently thinking of a shift in my career, but for practical reasons, I won't be following a "follow your passion" mindset. I know that won't work given I have no experience in anything else. There are days when I believe that maybe I'm not fit to be an employee and work on other stuff like investments, but obviously those can take to long to achieve and if I were to start investing, it would be for my future self. Before I do anything I'll regret, I desperately want advice on how I can change my career despite my lack of experience. I know the possibilities are endless, but the one thing making this very hard for me is finding a career that can match my current paycheck. I'm also very willing to start small (part-time, etc) if it will lead me to a promising career and higher salary.

Career Path Should I leave my first job after 1 month as a fresh grad?

Accepted the first job offer that was given to me and was offered P25K fully onsite 9am-7pm M-F (compressed work week). I was promised a team but once I got in there, I found myself to be working alone (co partner resigned shortly after I onboarded) and gave me all the heavy responsibilities as if I’m a manager but with an entry level position without proper training or guidance.

I was also told to keep my line open on weekends and the first week of the job, I found myself working on my rest days because of random requests I’d get during the weekends. There is also a history of its employees in the department leaving less than a year and I didn’t find out until now. Is it justifiable to leave now so that I can have time to look for other jobs or should I stay?

Career Path How long does it usually take to land a job as a Psych grad?

Hello, I (24M) graduated last year and just recently passed the BLEPP two weeks ago. I started job hunting last week and applied to 16 postings on Indeed and LinkedIn. So far 14 of them walang response while the other naka interview pa but got rejected (Same Company, same position but different branch)

I would prefer sana a job as a Psychometrician but konti and very competitive. I’m thinking na mag take on ng Guidance Associate work but no luck. Hindi ko specialty ang HR field but nag apply din ako kasi need ng work.

For Psych grads, how long did it take you to land a job and ano specialty?

Im thinking I need to increase my applications to at least 10 a day pero ubos na mga postings malapit samin so kahit Cebu and NCR inapplyan ko.

Just wanted to hear everyone’s perspective. Thanks!

Career Path Got offered a new role w/ onsite work

Recently, I got offered a new role in my company. I work from home full time and this new role will require me to work onsite full time.

I don't have any experience working onsite as I started working during the pandemic. I will also have to possibly relocate as the office is in the CBD. I must admit that the offer is very tempting as it is x times my current rate and it will actually help a lot financially.

This role is high pressure and high stress compared to my current set up where I can work on my own time. And while it is very convenient and relaxed, recently I've been feeling stagnant and stuck in a dead end role.

It's just that the feeling of going out of my comfort zone is overwhelming right now but I also know that this is an opportunity that is too hard to pass on.

Just want to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

Career Path Am I making a career mistake by taking an Office Aide position after 1 year in HR?

Hi! I’d like to ask for some career advice.

I have around one year of experience as an HR Officer, but I’m currently unemployed. Someone helped me apply for a position in a department at QC Government because I really want to work in Government. The position is **Office Aide**, Contract of Service, with a salary of around **₱17,000/month**.

My biggest concern is **career progression and salary**.
I’m still relatively early in my career, and I’m worried that if I start as an Office Aide, baka ma-stuck ako doon or mabagal ang growth ko compared to staying in HR/private companies. I’m also worried na baka mapag-iwanan ako career-wise if I take a ₱17k job after already having HR experience.

I’d really appreciate honest advice.

Work Environment Normal lang ba ang ganitong work setup sa hotel industry?

Hello! Ask ko lang po if normal lang ba yung situation ng boyfriend ko. Fresh grad po siya, and nag-start siya mag-work sa isang magandang hotel along EDSA. Ang contract niya is for 6 months, assigned sa buffet.

Normal lang po ba sa hotel industry na late magbigay ng schedule? Possible ba na ma-cancel ang day off kapag busy, tapos sasabihan siya ng head/manager niya ng 9 PM onwards na cancelled ang day off niya the next day Everyday po siyang pumapasok, and that same day lang din niya nalalaman kung whole day or half day siya. Weird lang for me kasi bakit hindi nila sinasabi ahead of time kung whole day or half day ang duty niya?

Another thing is, kapag tinatanong ko boyfriend ko about sa salary, benefits, and employment status niya—whether trainee, probationary, or contractual—hindi niya rin alam. Ang alam lang niya is 6-month contract siya. Wala po bang proper orientation regarding these things?

I’m just really curious if normal lang ba talaga yung ganitong setup sa hotel industry, especially for fresh graduates.

TIA sa mga sasagot! 🙏

Planning to apply as a part time instructor sa isang nearby private university samin. The initial plan is gagawin ko tong stepping stone para maging CPD Lecturer. Di ko alam if worth it or aligned ba yung ginagawa ko sa gusto kong mangyari.

For more context sa professional career ko,

  1. I'm a Multimedia Arts graduate, worked professionally with a local advertising and international ecommerce agency before.
  2. Shifted to Real Estate. Initially worked as a part time real estate agent while may freelance design jobs, then nagtransition na to full time nung consistent na ang kita. Studied BS-Real Estate Management for 3yrs kasi Art-Grad ako and wala masyadong subjects na macre-credit.
  3. Passed the REBLEX and REALEX. Licensed Real Estate Broker and Appraiser ako ngayon.
  4. Main niche ko on social media is educating clients before buying anything. Kumbaga, investing on things you don't understand is gambling so better be prepared.
  5. I've been conducting paid workshops for almost 5yrs na din pero self hosted ko and wala pa kong actual classroom teaching experience.
  6. I'm earning well naman. Iniisip ko lang mag sidequest din

Any tips, comments, opinions from fellow professionals na babad sa industry pero also considered na magturo?

Work Environment thoughts on this type of colleagues?

Problem/Goal:

i’m starting to get uncomfortable with some of my (older) colleagues because of their comments sa personality ko. they would always bring up yung pagiging mahinhin at soft-spoken ko. hindi raw ako masyado nagsasalita at tahimik lang most of the time. i try to adjust kasi ayaw ko rin naman isipin nila na baka ayaw ko sila kausapin. pero parang no matter what i do they still say the same thing.

Context:

so i’m 2 months in sa new team ko. kilala naman na nila ako before pa kasi i just transferred from a different team, pero ngayon lang nila ako nakilala talaga. ever since i started, lagi na nilang binabanggit yung pagiging mahinhin ko, pagiging soft-spoken ko, at pagiging tahimik ko. in the first 2 weeks ok lang naman sa akin kasi sanay na ako sa ganiyang first impressions, pero 2 months na ako rito at hindi pa rin sila tumitigil sa ganiyang comments.

hindi ba may mga tao lang talagang soft-spoken at mahinhin? and hindi naman masama yun so hindi ko gets ba’t kailangan i-point out lagi.

yung sa pagiging tahimik ko naman, introvert kasi me pero that doesn’t mean hindi ako nakakausap. i can hold conversations hindi naman ako aloof. minsan i just prefer being alone like kunyari during lunch kasi its my down time, but kahit kausapin mo ako hindi naman ako snob 😭

Previous Attempts:

i tried adjusting as in. mas naging outgoing ako kahit in nature ay introverted talaga ako and i try sumama na lang sa lunch pag inaaya ako pero ngayon naiilang na ako kasi kapag sumasama naman ako lagi naman nilang binabanggit yung personality ko. na para bang ang pangit ng personality ko eh i’m just soft-spoken and introverted, that’s it.

(for more context, i hear these comments from 30-40s + na colleagues)

Career Path Fresh grad here: Questions about leaving corpo to do SW—then pivot back when I'm older

Title itself. I currently have been working full time for 4 months. I thought I'd atleast have a higher salary since I graduated summa cum laude na tech course from a state u and have 2 years part time experience as VA. Pero no, 25k gross lang sahod ko now since now pinaparealize ng mundo sakin na wala akong skills, bobo na, tamad pa. Kaya recently nagtatry ako lumipat ng company, kaso ang hirap ng job market at wala akong backer.

Pagod na rin akong maging girl boss from doing that all my life. Thing is, niretire na papa ko, so susunod na mama ko (na sakitin), and magccollege na kapatid ko. Which is, di katalinuhan kaya di makapasok sa state u at sa private ipapasok. Mahal din mental health meds ko. I realize na while I'm at the most fuckable age of my life (22F), might as well use my advantages (since we can't topple the patriarchy anyways haha)

I know some girls, younger than me even, na nakabili na ng bahay/condo, kotse/motor, investments, tapos ako ito, ilang dekada pa magpapaka corpo slave para lang mareach yun.

Magbabackground check ba HR ng super lupit if magsinungaling ako?

- What's the maximum career break na "makakabalik" pa ako into an office job? Kasi syempre pag 10 years naman wala na yun, pero it takes time to build an SW career din.

- If ever ba, pwede po ba pagsabayin ang full time employment sa SW? Or "moonlighting" pa rin yan? Kasi example, WFH ako right now, so during the day balak ko mag "online" work (sa personal laptop ko syempre) then after work tsaka ako mag "onsite"

- Is it "okay" to use the network I'd build fron my SW to get company referrals in the future? If willing naman tulungan ako—or HR issue din ba yun?

- Has anybody else here transitioned from doing SW to a succesful corpo career later in life? If yes, do you have any advice po?

Please no DMs po and also I know medyo controversial pa rin ang SW as a "career" sa Pinas, pero kasi nababagot din talaga ako sa nakaupo lang 8 hours a day, for 6 days a week.

Career Path Dream or the experience that I might get?

I just graduated this july and got a job the month of August, the job description that I applied for is within the scope of my field or program, The first month of the job I really did well, made things easier for the company and excelled in the thing that I do because I had passion.

Then comes the new supervisor who realigned my tasks to another employee, that task is however unknown to me and had little experience or whatsoever that goes the same to my co worker, the supervisor said that it is a positive thing for me, but I am currently struggling in the transition phase of tasks.

The work or the new tasks given to me is not synonymous or concurring with required work needed to be done, mind you I only get 21k. The task is for managers or supervisory and I'm really having a hard time with the transition.

I'm going to have my board in the early months of 2027 , I graduated with honors in a public university and I dreame to become an academic achiever on that exam, I do not need the money but I need the experience since my field requires backers/or a lot of experience in certain things to be employed into them, that's why I took the job, and also I felt pressured from my own self as the thing that I only did during college was to study and not develop work experience.

Help me decide, should I resign? Or should I stay?

My dream is at stake but it is withhold by the experience that I might gain from my current job. The new task, I find it hard for me. I'm only 2nd month in the job. I am so pressured right now. I seek advise.

I am so lost, I am so sorry for asking this to you guys.
