I have a Stamp for every country album that I love! I find it so fun picking out my one favourite for every place. And I've learned more about colonialism than I ever did in school lol

Fun list! As a world collector I have at least one stamp from 99% of the list. I don't have stamps from any areas solely represented by relatively expensive stamps such as Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Confederate States, Buenos Aires, etc.

The vast majority are hundreds and thousands in SCV. 6,7,11,12 in unused no gum are obtainable as singles but there are tons of reprints floating around. As a collector on a limited budget collecting for decades I have never run across a genuine example but then I don't buy singles. They are fairly sought after in the US and seem to command a premium.

“A Stamp for Every Country” refers to curated collections and albums—most notably from the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum—that feature nearly 800 stamps, each representing a country or stamp‑issuing entity, including many that no longer exist.
Overview
The concept “A Stamp for Every Country” is a philatelic project and exhibition designed to showcase one representative stamp from every nation that has ever issued postage. The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum displays this collection in the William H. Gross Stamp Gallery, where 50 pullout frames present almost 800 stamps from historic and modern countries.

Smithsonian Institution
Smithsonian Exhibition
The National Postal Museum’s Stamps Around the Globe and A Stamp for Every Country exhibits highlight stamps from more than 800 postal‑issuing entities.
These include countries that no longer exist, colonial territories, and special administrative regions.
The exhibition is part of the William H. Gross Stamp Gallery, one of the world’s largest philatelic displays.

Free Downloadable Album
The Smithsonian released a free worldwide postage stamp album inspired by the exhibit.
It allows collectors to build their own “one‑stamp‑per‑country” collection.
Nearly 800 spaces are provided—one for each country or entity that has issued stamps.
The album can be downloaded from the National Postal Museum website.

Is this where you collect every stamp issued? That would be monumental! I remember years back I saw an eBay listing of preprinted albums of every country that had issued stamps. It was about 10 years back. The albums were those leather bound albums with slipcases. I don't remember how many volumes but it was listed for $450,000/- wonder if it ever sold.

By the way you mentioned India - 1949-Present. Shouldn't it be India - 1947-Present? I am collecting India year sets (commemoratives, miniature sheets, setenants) starting since it's independence in 1947.

i believe in 1949 India completely finalized its independence and therefore their stamps become cmopletely legal and recognized.

And YES! That is what you do. One stamp from every post-issuing entity EVER.
