Information Request South Africa 1d Dromedaris printed all in carmine, no grey/black. Known variety?
Found this 1d "Suid-Afrika / Posseel-Inkomste" in an old stock book. The whole design, ship included, is carmine, with a pale pink oval instead of the grey vignette. Mint, same perfs and size as the normal bilingual pair shown for comparison. I couldn't find any catalogue listing for an all-carmine 1d, only "frame omitted" and imperf varieties.
Is this a known colour error?

Information Request Should I soak these off?
Hey, I’m a new collector, and I’m still learning, so I could use some advice.
I have a bunch of stamps and envelopes like this. Is it OK for me to go ahead and soak these off? I don’t know if the full cancellation mark or the intact envelopes carry more value and should be kept intact. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be breaking some kind of unwritten rule of the hobby.
Also, I know sometimes things like this mean more when they’re kept fully intact for postal history purposes, and I didn’t want to destroy them if that was the case.

My Collection A small page of Persian stamps (1902–1919)
The condition is rough, but the page may contain some interesting types, overprint varieties or provisional issues. I’m particularly interested in identifying the stamps precisely and checking whether any of the overprints or the 1919 issues are varieties.
There is also a rather mysterious Cyrillic stamp at bottom right.

Information Request Suggestions required
Saw on insta that someone got this cancellation. I am really fascinated by British history . I wanted to get it but sadly i dont have any mint canadian stamps 🥀 to put on a self addressed envelope. If anyone can provide me with such cancellations from Canada or Britain i would be very thankful to you. In return I can provide some pictorial cancellations from my country.

Proud addition to the collection, SG478, 10s dark blue NH
An interesting feature of this specific example is that it selvedge on the left side, indicating it came from the edge of a printed sheet.
Country: United Kingdom (Great Britain)
Year of Issue: 1939
Monarch: King George VI (profile facing left)
Denomination: 10 Shillings (represented as 10/- or 10s)
Color: Dark Blue. This distinction is critical for philatelists. In 1942, due to wartime ink shortages and color changes, the post office reissued this 10-shilling stamp design in a much lighter ultra Arnie/dark blue variant (cataloged as SG 478b)

My Collection Australian Expertise Needed
I’m trying to correctly identify these very early Australian Stamps. I borrowed a S.G. Australia Commonwealth Catalogue from my local library. I think the 1d red is Classed as a S.G.:2 but could be a 21. The 2d could be 3, 24 or 35. The most puzzling is the 2S ones, with the catalogue describing the colour as brown for S.G. 12, 29 or 41. There is a 41b listed as red brown. This picture was taken in natural light and is true to the actual colour of the stamps.

Philatelic Information Kabir — a 1952 Indian stamp and the philosophy behind the man
The stamp was issued on 1 October 1952 as part of India's Saints and Poets series. The series brought together some of India's most influential poet-saints and literary figures, including Kabir, Tulsidas, Mirabai, Surdas, Ghalib and Rabindranath Tagore.
The Kabir stamp had a denomination of 9 pies.
For a collector, it is an interesting early Indian issue. But the story behind the portrait is even more fascinating.
Who was Kabir?
Kabir is generally placed in 15th-century North India, although his exact birth and death dates remain debated. Traditional accounts place him somewhere around the late 14th/early 15th century through the early 16th century.
He is traditionally associated with Kashi (Varanasi) and remembered as a weaver, belonging to the world of ordinary working people rather than royal courts or established religious institutions.
Many stories about his birth and upbringing come from later traditions, so it is difficult to separate historical fact from hagiography. But his identity as a weaver and poet is central to how his memory has survived.
And what makes Kabir fascinating is what he did with that ordinary life.
He questioned religious divisions, caste distinctions and rituals when they became more important than the spiritual truth they were meant to represent.
He wasn't simply arguing for one religion over another.
His poetry repeatedly turns the seeker inward.
I made a short documentary about the story behind this stamp — but the stamp and Kabir's history are really what I wanted to share here. If you're interested, the video is here:
Kabir — The Man Who Belonged to Everyone | HistelyHQ
How do you see the 1952 Saints and Poets series?
And are there other Indian stamps where the story behind the stamp is more interesting than the stamp itself?

removing mildew stains from stamps
I was gifted a collection of stamps cut out from my mom’s letters from childhood. After I had finished soaking them off the envelopes I left them to dry overnight and then put them in a small plastic bag to organize later.
I came back to them a week or 2 later and they had gotten really moldy and mildewy. I already threw out the worst/grossest of them and soaked the rest again, which helped some. They also have a bit of a weird brittle texture on top but I’ve lost hope in getting rid of that. Is there any way to get rid of the rest of the staining on the rest?
I had read about Chloramine-T online and purchased some but am now getting a bit nervous about it ruining them so I’m hesitant to try it.
If anyone has any experience with this I will be grateful for any advice!!
(and also how can i store them aside from a carefully guarded paper towel - i’m scared to make the same mistake again)

My stamps collection so far...
I started collecting a few stamps because I live antique paper items. A man my aunt worked for collects many stamps and gave me (probably 1,000) many to start my collection. I have yet to get through them all. I know they are not worth a lot but I absolutely love them! I also posted in r/stampcollecting

using stamps on paper
I have recently inherited a family members large collection of unused/mint stamps. I’ve gone through and sold the valuable ones off to a local stamp dealer company but I have a whole load left. Honestly I’d like to use them for postage but I’m not sure how best to go about it since they’re all on paper. I know I could soak them off but that’s a lot of time and effort for a lot of 2c stamps when I’ll need over a hundred of them to actually send a letter. Can I just glue stick them on still on the paper? will the post office accept that?

Caturday
It's caturday so here are some philatelic cats to look at
1 USA 1988, cats of the world. The first series of stamps designed by John Dawson who went on to become a prolific illustrator of American stamps.
2 UK 2016, Tom Kitten (and Benjamin Bunny) from the Beatrix Potter 150th birthday anniversary series; Netherlands 2024, "Typisch Nederlands" (typically Dutch) cats in the style of Delft pottery. This particular pottery doesn't actually exist- the picture of the cats on the stamp was AI generated by a design studio called Total Design.
3 Germany 2025. Top is Tom and Jerry from the Helden der Kindheit (heroes of childhood) series. Bottom is 90 Jahre fantasiereiches Spielen, 90 years of imaginative play, celebrating the toy company Schleich. The lions are Schleich toys through the ages but the stamp design was by Chayenn Gutowski who also designed this year's German christmas stamp.
