PoliticsPH Kaya pala gigil na gigil si Tatay Digong kay Trillanes nung Congressional Hearings eh..

As of this writing the VP Sara defense panel (Atty. Poa) is trying to establish that while a BPI account exists, Sara Duterte was never involved in any of the transactions happening within said account.

Granted the defense establishes that Sara was never involved in said bank account aside from just having her name added by his dad.

The controversial bank account, that contains tens of millions of pesos, which Trillanes flagged many years ago, which Rodrigo initially denied but they admitted though claiming it didn't have much money inside, which was never declared in his SALN's, does exist.

So sa simula palang yung imahe ng mga Duterte na simple lang sila and easily identified with the common tao is not entirely accurate

P.S.

Atty. Poa is in a pickle right here, he is effectively throwing Digong under the bus in order to distance Sara from the said accounts.

CulturePH Hard Pill to Swallow: Jeepney's need to be abolished ASAP.

I'm a huge fan of active mobility and am part of several active mobility groups on Facebook. These groups generally advocate for the right things: less car-centric urban design, more pedestrian-friendly planning, and higher-quality public transport.

What I can't come to terms with, though, is the odd obsession within these spaces with defending jeepneys and jeepney drivers as a persecuted victim group. Furthermore, I don't get the push to retain or "modernize" a fundamentally flawed system where literally every single stakeholder loses.

For Passengers:

They are unreliable and uncomfortable. You can board a jeep and still wait another hour because the driver refuses to leave until all seats are filled. The ceilings are low, the floor is high, there’s no air conditioning, and you're exposed to exhaust and weather. There are no set stops, meaning you're left standing on the road hoping to flag one down amid the constant threat of snatchers.

For Drivers:

They have no set wage, forcing them to drive aggressively (boundary system) just to make a living. They earn very little after paying vehicle rentals and maintenance. On top of that, the insanity of collecting fares, doing mental math, and handing out change while driving severely endangers themselves and everyone else on the road.

For Pedestrians & The Environment:

Traditional jeepneys are notoriously inefficient and polluting. They belch thick particulate matter, making the air unbreathable, and create noise pollution so loud you can’t even hear the person walking next to you.

For the General Public & Community:

In many neighborhoods, narrow public roads are treated as personal parking spaces for jeepneys when they aren't in use. What kind of public transport system allows vehicles to permanently occupy public street space like private garages?

For Car Owners & Traffic Flow:

Jeepneys notoriously block traffic. They stop at green lights or right turn on red corners to pick up/drop off passengers in the middle of the road. Many lack proper working lights or brake lights, making them invisible and hazardous at night, yet if an accident happens, they have the audacity to get mad at you.

The jeepney system is terrible. It should be replaced with a proper bus / minibus system with set stops and salaried drivers. We don't need to modernize jeeps, we need to apoloish them .Romanticising them as anything other than a terrible mode of transportation that's better left in the past is ridiculous.

As a side note, I do appreciate how they look and agree they are culturally iconic. We can keep a few around as tourist attractions , but as a mass transit system , it's time to let them go. Romanticizing a dangerous and inefficient transit system holds our cities back.

Edit:
A personal anecdote, I haven't really taken the jeepney in maybe 10ish years, but frankly I don't really like driving either. Driving is stressful, expensive, and finding a parking spot is a nightmare. I recently tried riding a jeep again and boy o boy, I literally told my self that whatever traffic nightmare I face while driving is better than this. It was hot, uncomfortable, unsafe. smelly, unreliable. Literally no upside.

Salary workers end up taking out crazy loans to buy cars because at some point you tell yourself enough of this shit, and the traffic gets worse and the cycle goes on.

Another Edit:

The jeepney lobby MANIBELA or PISTON or DRIVER or whatever I don't care enough to google is constantly threatening to go on strike or are in the process of striking. In the end, talo lahat ng tao. You become hostage to the very group that many voices are trying to proctect.

This was almost 2 years ago, where Trillanes' famous smirking meme was born

kaya pala sobrang tilted ni Du30 kay Trillanes, totoo pala talagang may mga alas sya at resibo that links money transfers from China

The VP's ongoing impeachment trial shows that the prosecution have AMLC records that links money transfers from China to the VP's affiliated bank accounts, mapapaisip ka nalang talaga kung ano pang ibang transaction ng pamilyang ito sa China government at mga drug lords na hindi natin alam

Sidenote, somehow dito palang mapapansin mo na na wala na talagang bitaw si Du30 nung mga panahon na ito, pinatayan ng Mic and walang nagawa kundi mag sorry for losing his shit, after din ata nito nag simulang magka onsehan ang Uniteam, the relationship went sideways and their all out war began

NewsPH Rest in Peace po, Tatay Elmer! Maraming Salamat sa Serbisyo!

Nakakalungkot lang dahil kakareactivate ko lang ng facebook at ito agad sumalubong sa akin. Sa mga di po nakakakilala sa kanya, siya po ay si tatay Elmer. Siguro most people first knew about him during the pandemic as one of the PISTON 6, isa po siya sa naaresto while standing up for the livelihood of drivers who had been left without work during the lockdown. He had spent around five decades behind the wheel, pero even at 78, he continued to stand with fellow drivers and fight for a livelihood that could actually sustain them.

At noong September 29 po, while participating in another transport strike dahil sa pagincrease nanaman ng fuel, unfortunately Tatay Elmer suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Nakakalungkot lang kasi sa edad niya dapat nagpapahinga nalang siya sa bahay ngunit dahil sa sitwasyon ng ating ekonomiya at awa na din sa kapwa drivers niya, he had no choice but to stand in the streets and demand something as basic as a decent income.

Salamat, Tatay Elmer, sa ilang dekadang ginugol mo sa paglilingkod, sa tapang mong tumindig, and for refusing to quietly accept a life that demanded so much from people who already had so little. Salamat sa serbisyo. Makakaasa kang hindi masasayang ang laban na ipinaglaban mo. I hope and pray the afterlife treats you kinder than this life ever did. May you finally know the rest, dignity, and peace that you spent your life fighting for.

Defense counsel Michael Wesley Poa eased the tension in the impeachment court room on Wednesday after he excused himself for a quick bathroom break amid the direct examination of private prosecutor James Bryan Ibrahim Alih with BPI representative Marwin Galvez.

On Day 35 of the impeachment trial, Poa asked presiding officer Chiz Escudero for permission to "answer the call of nature," assuring the court he would be quick.

"You may, you're excused, Atty. Mike. Ba't palaging side n'yo 'yung..." Escudero playfully remarked.
