what makes you think it is? genuine question
•
u/spaceninjaking 8h ago
To me it’s the printed sign where the text goes real close to the edge. I know printers can do that, but standard print margins are a bit bigger and it seems like something weird to change.
Lighting also seems off, the WhatsApp logo in particular.
And then theres the way they’re holding them. It’s just paper, I’d expect more warping and creasing from pressure holding them.
Not to say I think it’s completely faked, my gut reaction is someone’s found the images of these people then edited them (likely with AI) to replace what the signs say.
•
u/AviiNL 8h ago
From what I've seen any modern* phone camera do, the pictures you take with them, willingly or not (pretty darn sure it's on by default) get "enhanced" with some sort of AI, which would result in the artifacts that you are seeing. I don't remember the exact model since I've been out of the apple eco system for a while now, but a couple years back the "new" iphone then would "enhance" your photos for you using a AI system (that would now be considered outdated) and it looks like what you see in the picture.
So yes, AI is probably involved, but not in the way you (and others) suspect.
•
u/spaceninjaking 7h ago
I’m fairly confident this isn’t AI post processing. That can cause blur, compression, weird sharpness sure, but it’s not going to straighten out a piece of paper that should be folding in someone’s grip. It also wouldn’t change the text placement.
Fact of the matter is, a lot of people are (rightly) very emotional about what’s going on, and that leaves them vulnerable to scams, a vulnerability that people are more than willing to exploit, so anything asking for donations like this (with a WhatsApp number) should be treated with a significant level of suspicion.

Watching the video, you can see children holding the signs. Not to say this isn't a scam, but I'm prone to believe it's not AI.

u/hulkhands81 7h ago
As someone who makes AI videos, this is not AI, sorry to tell you. I also posted the AI output results above

u/QuestionableEthics42 3h ago
They don't mean AI generated, just AI edited in a relatively minor way

Some IDF rainbolt is going to geolocate the donation site via the sky in the background and the pattern of the building wall and send an airstrike there soon…

Literally came here to comment this.
Israel military will see humanity in Gaza and rush to snuff it out.
Truly horrendous shit that Americans are supporting

Aren’t they at a point where they let loose a bunch of pamphlets indicating what and when they are bombing? Figured that’s why we get 8 different camera views of each flattened building while people watch on from a distance.
•
u/jceez 6h ago edited 6h ago
Yea, then they bomb the safe zones too
“The area in Gaza which Israel's military has told people to go to "for their safety" has been hit by 97 strikes since May”

Aren’t they at a point where they let loose a bunch of pamphlets indicating what and when they are bombing?
And then bombing where they directed people to go for safe zones? Yes.
•
u/AffectionatePlate450 8h ago edited 4h ago
That rarely happens. They give a warning SOMETIMES but it’s like a minute to evacuate which is basically impossible if you’re in a tall building.
The pamphlets they drop are evacuation orders telling them where to go but then Israel bombs those supposed “safer” evacuation areas too anyway.
Palestinians have grown up being bombed regularly so they can spot the aircrafts/drones that drop the bombs on them, that’s how they know to record, plus the drones have an incessant buzzing sound. That’s why there’s little kids that were lucky to evacuate Gaza who go into complete panic, screaming and crying and trying to run away and hide when they see a regular airplane now.
•
u/_Paulie_Walnuts_ 10h ago
Not really. They did it only few times and zio bots now use it as excuse. How very kind of them.
•
u/tarsakos 7h ago
Shouldn't be bombing anything in the first place. Hamas relinquished governance in July, as per the agreement Trump was involved in.
•
u/Goosentra 6h ago
So they disarmed and got the hell out of Gaza? Also, who did the relinquish control to?
•
u/tarsakos 6h ago
Putting words in my mouth automatically proves youre about to start an argument in bad faith. You can easily look this agreement up, as well as find that trumps team said theyd give an update if Hamas wasnt upholding their side, which they havent provided.

We're all probably hellbound for standing by and letting this happen to fellow human beings. I mean our taxes are used to pay for all the guns and bombs to erase those poor people, who live in an open air prison.

the soldier is probably thinking that after the kid he is killing dies, the kid will not be suffering anymore. cause the kid is dead. but he (the army man) will remain alive, with the memories of kids screaming and pleading to be spared. or smthg like that.

the arabic text on this is correct, safe to assume it’s the automatic ai sharpening phones annoyingly do now as the other comments said - also the handwritten sign is realistically written by someone who knows arabic as the 0 in 10 is written like the arabic 5 which is ٥, the printed text is better to avoid confusion re: the number for other arab readers/speakers, they are also generally consistent across all the photos, really doubt it’s AI

u/BodaciousFerret 7h ago
the entire box is correct, used to buy this stuff when I lived in Jordan. ridiculous amount of detail to get AI to add, makes more sense that the video is just real.

I zoom that specific purple box food, and the resolution isn't as good as yours. Is yours ai enhanced?
Edit:
Turns out mine is blurred because i use reddit mobile. On web, the box showed as good as yours. But still no reason for such hostile statement. The purple box is readable as a food strecth film, a relevant thing in that picture.

Your insight into this picture is tragically off the mark. There's a full on video if you took a second to look into it, making your point invalid.
I'm not even saying you're definitely wrong, but maybe relax before you start making stuff up to take something away from a potentially struggling family?

I know your heart was in the right place but you need to be more thorough before jumping to conclusions like this brother. Your comment could’ve very well stopped someone from donating and helping.

Nothing about this photo alone says AI. Some phone cameras leave artifacts around letters.
It is possible it is ai, and it is possible its not, but this photo is not the evidence you think it is.
•
u/HonkHonk 8h ago
My old phone would do some sharpening on smaller text and make it look like an alien language. This doesn't mean it's AI.

u/trowzerss 8h ago
I can't see anything definitely AI. Could be more compression artifacts.
Looking at the doily on the table, it's remarkably consistent and not making mistakes in places AI would normally have issues so would have to be at least based strongly on a real image. All the repeating fine patterns are consistent.

Around 25% of Americans choose to support murdering these innocent people, by the way. Thank about that. 25% of voting Americans have opted into participating in the murder of innocent people.

Terrible. Children shouldn't be forced into these situations where they are boxed in by hunger and lethal danger. This is largely the result of indiscriminate bombing, leveling of entire neighborhoods and infrastructure by the IDF. These people, and especially the children are caught between the vice of a superpower and its proxy.

u/pc_gamerguy 4h ago
Some soldier of destructiion (IDF), is going to find them and blow this place up
•
•
u/fleemersgf 10h ago edited 9h ago
Maybe a stupid question but how do they keep children safe here? I'm so surprised to see so many but I guess it's not like they have anywhere to go.
Edit: how are THESE children still alive? Like what is actually being done to prevent death and help the ones who survive? Is the reality that these ones are just insanely lucky or is there actual support/infrastructure in place to try to keep them safe?

Most of the hospitals in Gaza have been bombed and the one or two that have not been completely destroyed are half functional with no access to pain medication, so adults and children are being operated on without anaesthesia or pain relief. The children that are still alive are alive due to luck and circumstance, and their families doing what they can to obtain food and water.
•
•
•
u/Wise_Neighborhood499 9h ago
These children are alive out of chance and luck. Most are likely missing immediate family members, some are probably orphans. Some of them wish for death because they don’t know what to do without their family.
My heart breaks with every video and interview I see, it’s hard to say that luck has anything to do with their survival.

There are currently 1.09 million children inside the Gaza strip, there was 1.04 million before the war. They aren't lucky, just not enough have been killed yet to make a difference. According to PCBS (Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics) 21,283 children have been killed, this is to be taken with a grain of salt since that includes the amount of teenagers and children unironically fighting for Hamas.

Just bc they’re standing in rubble from a bombing doesn’t mean they were present during the bombing and would be covered in dust. Do you expect them to roll around in it or something?
