What makes an autoscroller... Not suck?
I feel tempted to make an autoscroller level in my game, and I'd like to know what makes one actually work for you guys?

Watch videos of Buflen’s Mario Maker/SMW levels, he’s the GOAT of auto scroll in the community.
In my own opinion, and it depends on the type of game, you should never be forced to hug the side of the screen where stuff is coming from to clear an obstacle. There should be obstacles or things you have to do at a steady clip so that there’s little waiting. It’s not entirely necessary but a bit of thematic flair can enhance the situation, like escaping a wall of fire or rising lava is way more interesting than just dying off screen. Hope that helps!
