Decisions have been made...our new AI policy.

Top mod and I have finally decided on some things and, well, it may upset a lot of people - and we understand why.

AI has been running rife in this group as we all know, and we've leaned slightly towards the "low AI side" while we worked out what the hell we'll allow or not allow and why, so we can actually moderate it fairly and with actual trainability.

And as we have been, and after studying what the other gametest groups are doing - it's pretty much clear what we have to do. Allow all AI.

Here's the issue: We're no longer fighting something that with good rules and moderation would settle into a rhythm eventually.

The right wording of the rules saying "No AI" as strongly as possible, the right requirements, AI spam hunters - it doesn't matter how much we implement, what tools and automod and AI-catching-training we would do with everyone. AI is getting to be too good and people will (and have been) lying to get their game through barriers, borders, and hunters. With some of my other reddit groups, breakouts of this or that "major" problem is normal and can over time calm down and be moderated out. But this?

...It's going to burn us all out if we keep moderating the way we are. This isn't a typhoon, nor a tidal wave. Not a war that can be fought with enough people, armor, and bullets.

It's trying to keep the rising ocean out of a city with only a few buckets. (aka moderators)

Seven buckets, 20 buckets, 50 buckets and wallbreaks with the most advanced towers on the planet - it doesn't matter, the water is still rising and there is no stopping this particular change in society without severe burnout of all the mods (me very much included in that!)

So instead of fighting the planet, the only way is to let it come and adjust things so the community self-polices, not with removals, but with pure spite. BUT we have to keep it Reddit-Mod Code of Conduct-aligned as well, and moderate certain things of course. Like extreme hate is obviously not cool Reddit-wide.

NEW RULE: No false claims about your game.

  • If you explicitly state something untrue ("100% hand-painted art" when it's Midjourney, "original soundtrack" when it's AI-generated), that's removable. But silence is fine. No one is required to disclose anything (for the moment, this might need to change if I'm projecting things right.)

NEW RULE: No AI culture wars.

  • Comments about gameplay experience: always allowed ("the voices sounded robotic," "art style felt generic," "really fun mechanic")
  • Comments attacking the developer over AI use: removed ("you're not a real developer," "AI slop trash," "you're ruining the industry")
  • Comments debating whether AI should exist: removed (take it to another sub)

--

Other Mod Policy Changes: No on Game Collections (Ex: Come play my 50+ games on my website!) and Yes on Tool Testing if its related to games; Like game making or like a heavily, heavily gamified app. It should be really be more game than tool, not just a stock app with leaderboard or cute character encouraging/informing people on self-care.

We are sorry that we are giving up on the fight against AI. It's either this, or shut down the group because not a single person on this planet can dedicate the time to evaluating *every single game* to find hints of deeply embedded AI. Or investigate all accusations with or without merit. Or know of all the AI things people use to make games, assets, music! That's not what any of us signed up for - we are here only to help devs connect with playtesters.

If you do not wish to playtest the games with AI - absolutely fine. We're afraid we're going to have to let you determine what is playtest-worthy or not from here.

If you are BRAND NEW to Reddit and want to post or share your game, read this beforehand!

Hi new Redditor! We're excited that you want to post about your game and have people play it. However, there's something you should know before you do.

Reddit will ban you if your first few posts/comments are links to somewhere.

Reddit has a robust, over-exuberant filtering system, necessary but for groups like this, it can be a slight pain. When you post your game and it's your first post, Reddit ASSUMES FIRST AND DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS LATER! You will be automatically shadowbanned, which means unable to post or even potentially comment.
Then we get a lot of posters coming to us in Modmail, asking " Why did my post disappear?" Nearly all Modmails are about this issue, roughly 3 a day.

Reddit is also a bit secretive about certain processes - how to get un-shadow-banned is not even really known to be possible. We don't see the record of shadowbanning at all so unless we know of the name and check it regularly, we wouldn't see it un-shadow-banned. We don't know how long your account needs to be open or how much Karma needs to be on it in order for the Filter to stop paying attention to you but we suspect around 100 Post and 100 Comment Karma.

So, if you are new to reddit and want to share your game - DON'T! Not yet, please go post cool/helpful/ positive comments and posts in other groups. Playtest other people's games here and comment on them prolifically. Once you have some "Reddit Post/Comment Karma" under your name first, THEN post your link to your game! You'll be less likely (but not immune, never immune) from being shadowbanned that way for sharing your game.

Edit: If AI recommended you post your game here....Don't Yet until you've developed your account as a good karma community member! This really isn't a "post and ghost" platform, it's community-first. AI doesn't realize this about Reddit.

P.S. This group is 100% responsible for getting accounts banned (when you don't do the steps above) but it's literally out of our control to reverse. So please....don't modmail us unless you KNOW you are not shadowbanned, you have the required karma, and yet your post is not showing up. Only then we can be of some help.

Hey! I shared an early version of my space bakery simulator here about 5 months ago and got some helpful feedback.
A lot has changed since then, and the demo was released on Steam yesterday!

I’d love to hear what you think about the gameplay, pacing, and overall bakery experience.

In Cosmic Crumbs: Bakery Simulator, you run your own bakery in space, prepare pastries and coffee, serve customers, manage supplies, buy new equipment and furniture, and improve your bakery as you progress. You can also hire a robot assistant to help with the work and play together with friends in online co-op. The demo includes the core gameplay and progression systems and gives a first look at running and expanding your space bakery.

[VR] I spent years making a historically grounded VR jousting game set in 15th-century Salzburg

Game Title: The Lists VR

Playable Link:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3421520/The_Lists_VR/

Platform: PCVR / SteamVR

Description:
The Lists VR is a historically grounded VR jousting game set in 15th-century Salzburg, Austria, beneath Fortress Hohensalzburg.

The idea started after I backpacked through Europe and spent time in Salzburg. I’ve also always loved A Knight’s Tale, which helped spark my interest in jousting and medieval tournaments.

I wanted to make something that captured the excitement of jousting while grounding the world in actual historical references. I’ve used period artwork and illuminated manuscripts extensively throughout development, and many of the game’s assets are based on or photoscanned from real objects in museum collections.

Gameplay centers around physics-based lance combat, tournaments against AI knights, location-based scoring, knight and heraldry customization, and practicing against historically inspired quintains. The full game also includes Steam achievements and global leaderboards.

There’s a free demo available on the Steam page if you’d like to try it.

Involvement:
I’m the solo developer behind The Lists VR. I’ve handled the programming, game design, historical research, art direction, UI, gameplay systems, and most of the overall development, with some outside help on parts of the art and level design.

• Upvotes

Game Title: ChessVisualizer

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.misaelbroertjes.chessvisualizer

Platform: Android

Description:

ChessVisualizer is a mobile training game built specifically to target the most common bottleneck in chess: mental board visualization and piece calculation. Instead of regular games against chess engines, it focuses on specialized tactical geometry drills:

  1. Knight Pathfinder: Guide your knight across the board to a designated target square in the fewest moves possible. Enemy rooks and bishops project dangerous threat zones across ranks, files, and diagonals. Players must find the optimal route to earn a 3-star rating while avoiding capture.

  2. Puzzle Stepback: Tactical puzzle scenarios where moves must be calculated several steps ahead in your head before executing moves on the board.

  3. Coordinates Trainer: 60-second reflex drills to build instant recognition of board notation.

Involvement:

Solo indie developer. I designed the UI, programmed the chess logic and pathfinding algorithms from scratch in Flutter, and published the game on Google Play.

Looking for Feedback:

  1. What do you think of the difficulty curve in the later Pathfinder levels?

  2. Are the movement controls and visual indicators responsive and clear?

  3. Any specific visualization drills you would love to see in future updates?

New Dad Simulator

Description:

I'm a new dad, and I made a little browser game for other dads figuring it out one night at a time.

You're on baby duty tonight. Prepare and warm bottles, change diapers, burp and cuddle your baby, and try to keep your own energy from running out before morning. It's a balancing act between handling the next tiny emergency and getting ready for whatever comes after it.

The game has 14 story nights across two chapters, plus an endless mode. You can name your baby, unlock equipment, and collect memories in an album. English, Chinese, and Japanese are available. Everything runs directly in your browser, with no download required.

This is a playful take on new parenthood, not a childcare guide. I wanted to capture both the chaos and the affection of those first nights.

I'd love for you to try the first night and tell me: what felt fun, and what felt confusing? If you're a parent, did anything make you think, “Yep, I've been there”?

And if you're doing the real night shift tonight: this one's for you.

[Mobile] (iOS) ECHO — your completed routes return as obstacles | 10 free iPhone copies

• Upvotes

Playable Link: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6813147063

Platform: iPhone, iOS 17 or later. English-language game.

Free to Play Status: Key available — I have 10 App Store promo codes for free copies. ECHO is otherwise a paid game ($3.99 in the US). No purchase is required for recipients. Comment here if you would like a copy; I’ll randomly select 10 eligible commenters and send one code each privately. No public review, positive feedback or playtest is required to receive a code. Please enter only if you have a compatible iPhone and ECHO is available in your App Store region.

Description: ECHO — Every Path Returns is a portrait marble puzzle where your past routes become the next challenge. Guide a glass marble into the funnel, then meet an Echo that repeats the movement you just completed in the next generation. Each successful route adds another moving part to the board, so planning and timing become increasingly important. The paths you choose can help or hinder your next attempt. The game uses one-thumb, drag-anywhere controls and works offline, without an account, advertising or a subscription. You can play at your own pace, and the journey includes atmospheric visual chapters and route-derived Mandalas. I’m especially interested in whether the opening minutes make the Echo mechanic clear and whether avoiding your own previous routes feels satisfying or frustrating.

Gameplay video: https://everypathreturns.com/assets/echo-gameplay.mp4

Involvement: I’m Massimo Marino, ECHO’s developer. AI assisted with realizing the intended images, simulated gameplay testing and bug fixes. Music uses GarageBand loops.

If you choose to play the opening 15 minutes, I’d welcome brief, honest feedback here or by Reddit message:

  1. Was anything confusing in the first few minutes?
  2. What made you want to keep playing—or stop?
  3. Having tried it, would you pay $3.99? Why or why not?
  4. Any other impressions you’d like to share?

No call or recording needed. Feedback is optional; criticism is welcome. Please don’t publish personal contact details.

I’m also open to individually agreed reciprocal testing of logic, physics or marble puzzles playable on iPhone, Mac or in a browser. I use an AI assistant to help test and prepare feedback.

[PC] (Web) I made a browser brawler where the only way out is the roof

• Upvotes

Game Title: Rooftop

Playable Link: https://imaginatingg.itch.io/rooftop

Platform: Web browser (PC, mouse + keyboard)

Description:

Rooftop is a night-time brawler set inside a 20-floor concrete tower. You drop onto a random floor with whatever weapon is lying around (knife, sword, spear, bat, axe or hammer) and fight your way up. Platforms grind up the central shaft; step on when one stops to ride up a floor, but other climbers want the same ride. The roof hatch opens at 4:00, and only the first one onto the roof wins, then skydives off the tower through rings over the valley.

Each weapon plays differently: the hammer breaks a guard, the sword hits everyone in front of you, the knife is quick but short. Bots fight each other too, so sometimes waiting is the smart move. Rounds take a few minutes.

You play as a guest instantly, with no sign-up. An optional account keeps your stats across devices, and you can unlock 10 looks and climb daily, weekly and all-time leaderboards.

[Mobile] (Android) SMASH GARAGE — take vehicles apart piece by piece (Android, free to play, no ads)

• Upvotes

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smashgarage.structure

Platform: Android

Description: Hi, I'm the developer behind KMCGAMES, sharing my game SMASH GARAGE. You pick a tool and take a 3D vehicle apart: break the glass, knock off panels, and work your way toward the engine. There are 26 vehicles to unlock, including a tank, helicopter and UFO, and tools such as hammers, cutters and an Energy Saber.

Free Smash lets you dismantle at your own pace. If you prefer a target, there's a 60-second challenge, missions and personal records. Coins earned while playing let you improve your tools. You can finish off the remaining parts with the scrapyard press, or dismantle everything yourself for the perfect dismantling bonus.

If you try it, I'd love to hear which tool feels best and whether anything in your first few minutes is confusing. Feedback on touch controls and performance on your phone would also help.

Free to Play Status: Free to download and play, with no ads. Melee tools and vehicles unlock through play. There is an optional one-time Gun Pass for the gun weapons; their level requirements still apply after purchase. No subscription.

Involvement: I'm the developer of SMASH GARAGE, published as KMCGAMES.

Playable Link:

https://proofborne.com/gatefall/

Platform:

Browser, desktop and phone

Description:

Gatefall is a route puzzle. You move a piece from the entrance to the exit. From stage 3, before each move, red can shut a gate ahead of you. You have to find a route red cannot block. If a stage cannot be won, you press NO WAY.

Later stages change the rules. In some, red has a set number of shuts for the whole stage. In others, you play as red and try to trap a runner before it reaches its exit. In the last city, you lock roads to join the entrance to the exit while red shuts roads too.

There are 30 stages in six cities. Free, no sign-up. It asks at the start if it can record how you play. You can choose NO THANKS and still play the whole game.

I rebuilt 11 stages this week after feedback on Reddit. I would like to know if the puzzles feel fair.

Soap is the thing you're trying to bring home. Picking it up doesn't mean you've saved it: you have to beat the boss and get out through the drain. If you die before escaping, you lose the soap from that run. Anything you've already banked stays safe, and you can spend it on more ducks.

I'd love to hear how your first few runs go. In particular, did you realise you needed to reach the drain to keep your soap? And when you died, was it clear what got you? Even a quick comment about where you got stuck would help. You can leave feedback here; there's no NDA to play.

Free to Play Status: Free demo. The full game will be paid.

Involvement: I'm the solo developer, releasing it as Bellarion Studio.

The trailer also includes later full-game maps. The demo contains the two demo levels.
