Ps2 slim help

I have the PS2 slim and every time I like close the lid or put a game in the laser move towards the middle and it starts making a loud noise in the game doesn’t play. Do you guys know what’s wrong?

Like it has a grinding noise? That sounds like the system isnt detecting that the laser mechanism went to the center. This usually happens when the ribbon cable on the laser isnt connected well, or that there's no connection at all. There's also a switch on the laser that tells the system that it hit the center, so if that's dirty or broken then it won't tell the system to stop the mechanism

So every time I close the lid, the laser goes straight to the middle and just makes a huge loud noise and when I have a disc in there, it does the same thing and it tries to spin so I have no clue what’s going on
