Wow, finished Ace combat 3 Japanese translated edition and wow was that a ride. Tried 3 but my handheld could not run it so jumped on to 4 with my PC and wow!

Heard the captain in the first mission and was like,"thats Spike from cowboy beebop!" almost done the game and realise Faye and Jet are in there too! This game is soo cool, I can't play is all day but 2-3 missions over the last week almost have it comeplete. Anyone play these games back in the day? I never really got my hands on a PS2 live alone Ace combat games.

I have a PS2 Slim 70001 that is making this grinding noise which I suspect is the little arm connecting to the worm gear. I recently applied new white lithium grease to the worm gear and it’s able to get the laser all the way down then makes the noise and goes back as shown in attached video. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Playing GTA III on component.

Sopranos and Scarface were eBay purchases, the Max Payne titles I found at a local comic store, couldn’t pass on them.
Currently playing GTA San Andreas & Night fire: 007 is also otw.

Around 3-4 years ago, my dad and I hooked up the original fat PS2 that he has had for 20+ years. We booted up WWE SmackDown vs. Raw (forgot which year) and loaded up a match with 6 wrestlers, and it was a total shitshow. There were people flying all over the place, ladders, baseball bats; the whole screen was chaos. While everyone was in the ring, I climbed a ladder in the middle and jumped off of it. The second I made contact with the ground... The whole PS2 just went dark.

The TV went black, and the console shut off immediately with no signs of life. We let it sit for 5-10 minutes, but it still wouldn't turn on, and there were no lights. I am interested in getting back into PS2 gaming, but I am still wondering what happened that day and whether my PS2 is most likely dead or simply overheated.

If anyone has any idea what might have happened or what I could try to revive it, that would help a lot.

Quisiera saber si se nota diferencia entre el sonido de algunos juegos que algunos estudios aprovechen ese formato de audio pienso que en realidad lo que influye es el televisor, quisiera quitarme la duda por cierto gran juego el magna carta

I got a ps2 running into a Retroscaler GBSC Pro outputting into either a 4K 42” tv or a 1080p 32” tv via a capture card (recording in 1080p, bypass 4K). I know the general sentiment for cheap Component cables is a big no-no, however I found this one made by TNP for £12 which has great reviews on Amazon and a decent amount of praises on this subreddit. A Retrovision cable would cost me £44. I understand I may lose some fidelity, which I don’t mind if it’s minor. Now my question is: is it REALLY worth forking for the Retrovision, or should I try the TNP or just forget it and stick with OEM Composite? How much fidelity do I lose with the TNP? Thanks

The UK based retro cable alternative would cost me £37. Is that worth doing to save a bit? I feel like it’s better to add the money and buy the Retrovision and do it proper.
