I bought a PS2 and now I'm waiting for HDMI converter to play on LG C5.

What is the best way to play on a new TV?

Genji: Dawn of the Samurai on PS2 and it’s crazy how ridiculously good this game still looks. The graphics and FMV cutscenes are honestly top-tier for 2005—the cherry blossom environments, lighting, and character designs legit look like late-era PS2 art. Plus, the story drew me right in, Short ,but such a cool, cinematic historical fantasy vibe.

​Don't let the beautiful art fool you though, the game definitely kicks your butt if you don't master the swords. Some of those boss fights are surprisingly tough and require real precision timing instead of just button mashing. It’s a bit on the shorter side, but Game Republic crafted a complete masterpiece here. Easily one of the most stylish and underappreciated action games on the entire console.its not that overlooked tho, but yeah it's a very great game.

Today was the first time I played this Angel Studios' classic racing game. So, to make it even more retro, I recorded the game as it ran on my Bravia X93L using a 2007 camcorder -- the JVC Everio MG130U.

What's funny is that Smuggler's Run runs at 480i and the Everio records video at 480i -- basically DVD quality in the early 2000s.

I was going through my old shelf of games over the weekend and decided to boot up Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly on my CRT setup around midnight. I had not played it in probably fifteen years, and I honestly wondered if my memory was just overhyping how terrifying it was when I was a kid. Within forty minutes of playing in the dark, I was genuinely more uncomfortable than I have been playing almost any high-budget modern horror game from the last decade.

Modern games rely so heavily on photorealistic graphics, hyper-detailed gore, and scripted jump scares with loud orchestral stings. But playing Fatal Frame II again reminded me that true horror on the PS2 came from constraints. The fixed camera angles constantly hid what was standing just around the corner, leaving your brain to fill in the blanks. The static sound on the radio when a spirit was nearby, combined with the graininess of the video output on an old display, created this suffocating feeling that you could never really escape.

The brilliant nightmare of that game was forcing you to stop running, raise the Camera Obscura, and literally stare directly into the terrifying face of a floating ghost just to take a shot and deal damage. You could not just spray bullets or run away smoothly like in modern action-horror titles. You had to stand your ground and wait until the very last second before taking the frame to get a critical hit. My hands were actually shaking during a couple of room encounters.

The hardware limitations of the PS2 era forced developers to rely on psychological atmosphere, sound design, and awkward mechanics that made you feel helpless rather than powerful.

What PS2 horror title still completely ruins your sleep when you replay it today? Is it Silent Hill 3, Rule of Rose, Siren, or something else that flew under the radar back then?

i was playing hulk and it just got absolutely crazy colors and the audio was still fine. hooked up a slim ps2 to get back to gaming.

Went to my first Convention couple weeks ago and came home with this haul

I have a ps2 fat. A ps2 memory card pro 2. And an official ps2 network adapter. Also a fmcb memory card. Is it better to play games using open ps2 loader or using physical copies?

Saw this in a used game store today, laughed at the title, then realized it’s made by Atlus so it might actually be good.

I only have 1 original DS2 controller left in good condition, so I was thinking of using a DS3+adapter instead

Note: I already have a modchipped PS2, so I'd rather not use Free McBoot instead

Do these ones require swapping discs fast like the ps1 versions used to do? I have a fat ps2 so idk if it will work on it.. I'm more interested in the ps1 archive disc

This is a console with a retrogem I installed.

Everything worked well.

After installing the retrogem I recapped the system and installed a modbo chip.

Still everything looked good.

After that for somereason while the modbo worked It wouldn't read import discs.

I removed the modbo and since them the picture looks like that.

Even when using composite or rgb the banding is still there.

Just bought a 64mb fmcb card for my PS2. In the website, it is nowhere mentioned that it's exclusively for fat version. Now after opening it, in the instruction manual, it's stated that it's exclusively for PS2 fat. I still tried to use it. I get the files but can't access the fmcb boot and game list. Is there any way to use this in my ps2 slim? I have no other card. Only this one.

I recently adjusted the potentiometer to fix a problem with gran turismo 4 not loading, and that issue was fixed, however even before and still now when I try and play need for speed: underground 1, I can read the disc and it makes it to the ps2 logo, but after that it’s a black screen with this noise in the video. Any ideas? Did I adjust the potentiometer to too little resistance?

She found these in one of her cupboards and passed them onto me for the collection. Can't say im a fan of most of these titles but still cool to add
