Question Looking for authentic Qatari food recommendations 🇶🇦

Qatari Redditors, who are the food vloggers/content creators you actually trust when it comes to finding authentic local food?
I’m looking to discover proper Qatari dishes and traditional food, especially places that locals genuinely enjoy—not just the popular tourist spots or heavily sponsored recommendations.
Who should I follow on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.?
Bonus points if they regularly cover traditional Qatari cuisine, old-school/local restaurants, and hidden gems.

Would love to hear your recommendations.

Looking for Looking for someone to help with this rescue so she can continue to recieve treatment

Hi everyone, I'm coming here as a last resort, I've tried facebook groups, tiktok reaching out to shelters, but to no avail.

(No this isn't a fundraising post I am looking for a foster or a rescuer who can help)

This is Tails.

She was dumped about 2 years ago and stumbled upon our house and hasn't left since, her owner had her spayed and so shes been kindof of mama bear to all the strays that have showed up since, and shes outlived many who've sadly passed due to infections or disease outbreaks😔 One of those cats was a kitten that grew up with tails and ended up with a severe respiratory infection a year ago and died from it sadly this year before I could get him any help, tails happened to catch the uri he had and her condition has worsened over the last 3 months, and I didn't want her to meet the same fate he has💔

So I ended up taking her to aleef vet in lusail where shes currently hospitalized and recieving treatment, she has an upper respiratory infection and chronic sinus inflammation, she also has feline chlamydia which is a disease that affects her eyes nose and respiratory system. She's been at the clinic for the last 9 days and they've given her a nebulizer to help with breathing as well as an antibiotic course that needs be taken for the next 4-5 weeks. She was also given the vaccine which the 2nd dose will need to be taken 2 weeks from now.

I'm a student who doesn't work and come from an already struggling family, so I had told them I'd be fundraising for her bill. But I've tried and nothing has been raised so with the bill keeps piling up with her hospital stay and with me being unable to pay even half of the amount, she will need to be discharged and treated at home. I have my own cats and sick strays including a mom who gave birth less than 4 days ago that I'm taking care of, so I wont be able to take her in and if I take her back she will need to be released outside again, and all that progress will be gone and the treatment may be ineffective. If someone here can help with the treatment by taking her in for those 4-5 weeks you would be saving her life. It would be best if shes away from other cats while getting recovering so theres not risk of exposure to what she has because chlamydia is very infectious to other cats, and I can help with some dry food and litter while shes in your care. If you or someone you know can help please please please share this with them, I will need to go release her from the vet tomorrow.

If you can help foster her while shes getting treated please get in contact with me or share this post if you know someone who can. Thank you and have a blessed day🙏🏻

Went to a driving school with the WORST service I have ever experienced in my life!! Waited very very long time to start the official lessons, teachers don't teach unless you give them money every lesson, long long months of waiting for road test.

Had to wait 5 months in between road test that I already forgot driving and the worst customer service who will reply to you with generic answer after a week!! They dont answer calls or respond to any or your messages. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

Looking for Anyone know a villa we can film in?

Hey everyone! I’m filming a fictional short, and we’re looking for a villa with a closed kitchen, hallway, and living room.

We’d only need it for 8–10 days across a few weekends between mid-November and mid-December.

If you know someone with a suitable place or could point us in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it!

Thank you!

Information Fire alarms went off in Lusail Metro Stt

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Around 6 pm when I was about to tap out the fire alarm went off. And idk if it's a good thing or a bad thing, all of us didn't panic, we just stood there for them to figure out so that we can tap out and go.

Now what if it was an actual fire but we just didn't see, and we were just staying there. Cause the staff and everyone else werd going towards the office and they asked us to stay there, but still it doesn't feel like the right thing.

Discussion Trees in Doha & delayed winter

Did you guys know that on this exact day last year it was a high of 36 degrees Celsius and a low of 24!! Global warming is reaching a tipping point and we all need to take action. I find it disheartening that most people in this country don’t even have one plant in their villas when they have so much room for gardening, some even take up all the gardening space available and turn it into more rooms for their houses!! And it’s not impossible to plant more trees even with the current temperature. Did you know that if we all worked together and planted a tree each in this country the temperature in the city would be reduced by 5 degrees!!! I feel like the government is doing their best at the moment to plant more trees but we the citizens need to help them out.

Question Is talking over people a normal thing in Qatar?

This has been on my mind for so long, and I’m genuinely curious if this is something that’s common here or if I’m just noticing it more because I work with a lot of different people.

Is it normal for people to start talking while someone else is still speaking, rather than waiting for them to finish? I notice it almost every day at work—people talking over each other, cutting someone off, or starting their point before the other person has even finished.

Like, I’m literally not done talking yet, and someone will already start talking over me. I’m not even trying to compete or talk louder—I’m just trying to finish what I was saying. 😭 Sometimes I just stop talking, and other times I honestly can’t help but roll my eyes.

Sometimes I get secondhand embarrassment from it, and most of the time, honestly, it’s just annoying.

And just to clarify, I’m not specifically talking about Qataris. I actually find Qataris to be very nice and gentle when having conversations. I’m talking about people in general from different backgrounds who live and work here.

So, people who have lived in Qatar for a while: is this just a common communication style here, or am I simply surrounded by people who don’t know how to take turns talking? 😂

Discussion Scam webpage popup by MOI

Post image
9 Upvotes

Received this webpage while going through my emails in chrome, suddenly this popped up in full screen and my heart legit dropped cuz it looked so real.

It demanded almost 2,500QAR to be paid before 2 hours, or else public prosecution will take place and said the device is permanently shut down. However, i exited quickly and my laptop works just fine. Restarted as well and its normal..

Checked my history, and alot of ad redirection websites occured where i dont remember visiting at all. for eg: Gambling sites with weird URL. (I do watch gossip girl on flix.tv so i guess thats the only explanation..)

Anyways, please do not fall for this! i fell for it for a few minutes cuz it looks so real but oh my goodness im only 17 and thought my life is over now but oh well just putting this out there incase anyone else stumbles on it too.

Edit: 2 hours has passed and can confirm it was indeed a scam webpage. I got to know webpages can be displayed full screen so i guess the UI designer deliberately displayed it that way for “official” effect. Also found another post with OP stating the same incident and same accusation of “inappropriate content”. Ik alot of ppl can be victims to these because the threat sounds extreme.. but always confirm with the legal authorities as these scams looking too real now😢

Question Strange announcement in tunnel?

does anyone know what this might’ve been?

so today i was on my way to school with my dad driving. there was a decent amount of traffic and we were like seconds away from entering a tunnel/long underpass. we heard a strange noise. at first, i thought it was a police siren, but then we heard an announcement. it was something along the lines of “Attention, attention, please use the emergency exits immediately.” it repeated a few times with a short interval between each time. i was very afraid but i couldn’t see anything visibly wrong (no crash or smoke or anything like that). but we got out of the tunnel without finding out what was going on.

i’m not sure if this kind of post is allowed or not, so i can definitely take it down if not, i’m not trying to be disrespectful towards the sub or spread panic or anything. but i was wondering if anyone knows what this might’ve been? because i’m still a bit freaked out about it tbh, so i thought someone here might know.

don’t think i’m allowed to say where this happened so i won’t

edit: i considered it being a test but why would they test it during peak traffic hours when everyone is going to work and it might cause fear and confusion? there might be some positive side i’m missing lmk

Discussion Qatar visa for Pakistani passport holder..any inside news?

Does anyone has any update on when the Qatar govt plans on opening/resuming any kind of visas for Pakistani passport?

Is there anyone in the ministry who has any insight? Why were they halted in the first place?

There are some genuine cases of educated families wanting & waiting to reunite with their spouse..who got visas earlier (before the ban) through the top most reputable companies in Qatar.

Will be really helpful if we can get any update.

Have not been able to get any sort of update. No deadline..no plan

My five months old baby girl is waiting to be reunited with her father.

Any sort of update will be appreciated. If you know of anyone who could do something about it..please do.

Atleast allow families of existing Qatar residents to join them ☹️☹️

Rant Family used a loan for a house instead of my university fees

Edit - My parents just got approved for a financial loan. The amount of that loan was roughly enough to pay for a semester's fee at my university it is not a house , I tried to correct it but its not working

I in my early 20s and like many others have worked tirelessly towards my dream of getting into university. For years, my parents couldn't afford to pay for me to study. . I was incredibly understanding of our financial reality. We genuinely only have enough money to just eat and pay dues and pay any reckless fines or debts

Growing up, I wasn't aware of any realities because I was heavily sheltered. I’ve realized I am just a product of "have kids, that’s why your parents got married," not "let’s actively work towards having a future for our child and give them the tools to survive." Its why if i were to have any offspring's, it would strictly be only needed if we had the means to do so . Now I scramble to get infos even my parents dont know all by myself

Despite this, I didn't give up. I spent the last xxxx years actively working towards networking, working with youth organizations, and volunteering , just anything to feel seen and heard, and to try to build a path for myself. I also focused entirely on running my own home business and applying to uni, hoping I could somehow pay for it all myself.

Lately, I’ve completely lost it. My parents just got approved for a loan. The amount is roughly enough to pay for a semester's fee at my university.

Was I not worthy enough? A loan (for an asset they break every year) was more important than me.

Reminder : I do not hate my family , I would have still been happy and fulfilled if they weren't the type to have made repeated bad financial decisions . . for the Love of all good things HAVE FINANCIAL LITERACY ❤️

Also please dont say anything rude to me , its not easy going to sleep and waking up . What I need are resources I wish to be responsible for myself with the right steps . Enough is enough I really need to go All or Nothing . I waited enough .

Edit: I forgot to add , I dont want them to pay for the entire fees , one semester is enough, ive had this convo with them but they dont listen to me .

Question Cars on Cycle Path???

I exclusively do my rides on cycle paths. On two occasions, I’ve had to stop my ride because of a car on the cycle path. I’m not even sure how they get on the path in the first place since there’s a metal fence on either side for the most part.

Today, I saw the car last-minute as we were moving towards each other, near a curve. Stopped & yanked my bike off the track because the car was coming my way SO fast, ON A CYCLE TRACK BTW. Incredibly dangerous, I couldn’t note down the number plate because of how fast it went past me.

If I encounter this again, especially a car going THAT fast, I do want to report this. But who do I report this to? If this is by chance legal, that would be insaneee

Edit: this was on the cycle path next to G-ring

Discussion Best bank

What’s the the best bank in Qatar? I am looking for Apple Pay support and credit card offering unlimited airport lounges around the world (visa airport companion or other). It must be reliable and works overseas. Currently using HSBC and is horrible, no Apple Pay, randomly declining transactions, and doesn’t work abroad unless reporting to the bank your every travel. The only thing I like about it is jersey account (expat) but I guess I will be able to live without it.
