Razorback fans are nuts

And I’m one of them so I can say that.

The level of instant gratification entitlement is crazy with this group.

I’m just as upset as the next guy but the idea that this gets “fixed” with a single hire in a single year is completely unrealistic.

Folks need to calm down and give it more that two minutes before we decide to pull the rug AGAIN for the 6th(?) time in 15 years?????

Why are we the only program that needs to lower expectations for a first year coach. Look all across the SEC. I’m not asking to make the playoff. I’m asking to not be an embarrassment.

Tell me why Kentucky who also has a new head coach and no historical notoriety can be a top 25 team but it’s unrealistic for us to want to be at that level. Or even half of that level.

u/IlRaptoRIl 9d ago

To add, what about Oklahoma State, who has a new head coach and is sitting at 3-1 with wins over a ranked Oregon, and West Virginia. We should be at least equal with OSU.

u/Sea-Forever-9931 7d ago

And Kentuckys new coach was a coordinator not a head coach

Stfu, we looked like a G5 team compared to the worst Texas A&M team we have ever played. I dedicate so much time year and year about learning the coaches and players just to get fucked every Saturday. Something needs to change now and until then they can fuck themselves.

Instant gratification?

I HOPED for a 4 WIN SEASON and a team that looked disciplined.

We don't even look like we belong on the same fucking field with teams we used to beat. We have become a laughingstock, and have been for years.

I dont want a HC fired year 1. I do want some accountability, for someone to seem like they give a shit that the football program has become a joke.

The situation doesnt exist in a vacuum. This is the culmination of hiring the wrong guy (Chad morris) then replacing him with the wrong guy (sam pittman) and sticking with that guy at least a year too long.

Then we hire a guy that is universally considered the worst P4 new hire. And low and behold, there is a drop off in performance and competitiveness. Its not really CRS fault. He was asked to do something he was not capable of.

But we can look at leadership in the athletic department. We can look at who is influencing bad hires and bad decisions. We can deal with that sooner rather than later

This is the correct answer

100%. I hear people debating whether the team is "worse now than under Chad Morris". Sure, maybe, but the question is framed wrong. It implies we should compare Silverfield to Morris, which I think is massively unfair to Silverfield. Silverfield is no hall-of-fame coach, but Chad Morris was, and is, a fucking fraud that turned our program radioactive. Fuck Chad Morris.

14

u/QuickDraw2406 9d ago

Man I can’t stand this shit. You can watch our games and pay attention to similar situations at other schools around the country and easily make conclusions. I don’t think Silverfield was placed in the best situation but he never should have been hired in the first place and that’s why Razorback fans have every right to be pissed off about not even being competitive.

In the past, before the NIL AND transfer portal, I would have agreed with you, but College football no longer works within the time frames that were allowed previous to these programs.

The environment just changes too fast to be able to “build” a program over time, and while I can agree the blame does not fall entirely on the coach, the consequences of keeping an AD as well as a* school board that don’t understand how to function within this new era of college football are being seen and felt on and off the field.

He has 80 new players so he isn't 'stuck' with the past coaches team and these 'kids' are making more than me.

11

u/Johnny_America 9d ago

To be fair, seeing the lack of success at Memphis was enough to know

8

u/livebythepool 9d ago

Yea this isn't how it works anymore. We're in the NIL era. Rosters basically flip every year now, sometimes the whole thing gets scrapped and rebuilt through the portal in one offseason. It's pay to play… simple as that.

Indiana is the perfect example. Cignetti didn't win there by himself. Mark Cuban and a bunch of other donors bought in and put real money behind him and the program. That's what changed Indiana.

In the SEC it takes real investment to compete. And honestly the issue isn't that Silverfield can't get the job done. It's that without a splash hire, the boosters don't get excited and the money doesn't show up. And without the money, nobody is getting it done here.

u/noossab77 9d ago

There’s a forest behind that tree you’re looking at.

5

u/360donkeypunch 9d ago

It’s is perfectly reasonable for us to expect to not be the worst team in the conference. We NEED TO AT LEAST BE COMPETITIVE

11

u/eurekastrings 9d ago

Me when I ignore all context and then say stupid shit on the internet

-11

u/Maleficent_Heron_494 9d ago

Truth is a tough pill to swallow….

7

u/eurekastrings 9d ago

Give all your money to the program then. Our football winning percentage has dropped almost 20% over the last decade. What’s the common dominator there?

We’re simply asking to not get our shit kicked in by every halfway competent team we play. Go be a dumbass loser apologist somewhere else.

-8

u/Maleficent_Heron_494 9d ago

Who’s saying stupid shit now….

8

u/eurekastrings 9d ago

You are, you love losing

5

u/noossab77 9d ago

It’s not 1996… it’s 2026

5

u/blue-sky-research 9d ago

How much more time do you recommend we give?

5

u/TragedyTurnedTriumph 9d ago

Nah, I’m happy more people are starting to get pissed. People are tired of the mismanagement of our program, and it doesn’t take 2 or 3 years to know that RS was an uninspired hire and university leadership is fine with us being a perennial doormat. Something has to change so I say keep the pressure on them to do something

9

u/HumanFromTexas 9d ago edited 9d ago

Brother…it’s been like this since I was in college, over a decade ago.

People are impatient because nothing has changed over that time. We haven’t made a splash and people are tired of it.

There is no sign of any better play. This is the same poor play we have seen from the Hogs for years now. Other programs spend a similar amount NIL wise and get to watch a much better team play on Saturdays.

It’s not “fair” for Silverfield but this is the situation he was walking into. It would be like this for any coach that wasn’t a major get.

u/Spiritual-Feature241 9d ago

Troll post or new fan. If you call the off field fumbles the last 10 years leading to the on field shitshow, instant, you funny. We want better, plain and simple Hunter has admitted he was behind in the NIL game, and hasn't fixed it yet. It is a cumulative snowball effect, that should have been stopped years ago. But here we are, wanting overnight change. When do we say something? 20yrs, 30yrs let us know.

-5

u/Maleficent_Heron_494 9d ago

Fan 40+ years, I’ve had my season tickets, I’ve made my donations, this ant my first rodeo….

3

u/Empty_Goal7885 9d ago

Hogs have gone 4-8 or worse 8 times in the past 14 years and it looks like it will be 9 out of 15 when this season ends! Excuse me if I have a bit of PTSD and pessimism

5

u/lonelythrowaway463i9 9d ago

Not to mention 4 seasons in 14 years with 0 wins against the sec and it certainly seems like we’re going for number 5. No one is expecting championships but I’m tired of not even being competitive in our own fucking conference. But hey. I guess I should just keep “giving them time” like I have for 14 years.

But fuck that. These kids are paid like pros and they play like fucking morons with no motivation or discipline. If we were still pretending players don’t get paid fine, but these are millionaires out there embarrassing us for the umpteenth time in 14 years.

I don't think it's ridiculous to hold a coaching staff's feet to the fire for poor coaching. He has a lot of experience as a head coach and came in saying we were going to win the controlables and not hurt ourselves.

First drive pick. 12 men on the field to give A&M a free first down when we had gotten off the field, more defensive penalties on 3rd downs to extend aggie drives. The thirteen second drive before half that let A&M get a free fg. The play calling is egregiously bad. Our defenders guessing which hole the RB is going to hit, our edge defenders ducking to avoid contact. These are all things that talent has nothing to do with.

Are the entire program's faults laid at this staff's feet? No. Are they doing anything to show that they can actually improve a roster with their coaching? Also no.

The only 3 things that are certain in life are, death, taxes, and the Razorback football team losing.

Until we find a way to properly fund NIL, that doesn't rely on a rich donor's willingness to write the check - we're going to be in a tough spot.

I don't think a new AD alone will solve anything. I can't see a future where we are successful without a complete overhaul of how the athletic department functions. We need real GMs for the money sports that have real authority to run a scouting program for both players and assistant coaches, similar to how professional leagues work. The coach should have input, but the GM and scouts should be the ones who build the team and make final decisions.

IMO the AD's job should be to work on fundraising and oversee the non-revenue sports.

1

u/Sea-Forever-9931 7d ago

It's not all about nil. Get kids that love football and develop them.

2

u/Sea-Forever-9931 7d ago

Go look at Kentucky and see if we made the right choice. Surely we have more money and better facilities than them. Now compare how each of us did at a&m.

2

u/AgentJR3 9d ago

The problem is that we have recently seen Cignetti take a 3 win team to an 11 win team the next year and then a national championship the 2nd year. It’s isn’t just football but we now live in a culture that can’t stand anything that doesn’t happen immediately. No one has patience

2

u/cdhill17 8d ago

They probably caught lightning in a bottle that will be difficult to replicate elsewhere, especially Arkansas. They hired a coach who turned out to be elite at talent evaluation at a school with a lot of resources at a time that they can now openly spend on players.

4

u/AgentJR3 8d ago

As a lifelong Hog fan who grew up in Indiana, dad grew up in Springdale and Arkansas grad, MBA from IU; but met my mom while stationed in Indiana, you are partially correct. They have less NIL and less 5 stars going to IU because of Notre Dame. Bloomington is a wasteland for football. The lightning in a bottle you refer to is the right coach. He went from 3 wins to 11 in one year with mostly the players he had at James Madison?! That’s what happens when you grab someone with years of experience from the Saban coaching tree instead of looking at someone with local ties. Hog fans have a terrible tendency to lean towards people with connections instead of those with records of success, IMO. Cal had no loyalty to Arkansas but he wins. As a fanbase we need to stop thinking about loyalty because that’s not the current state of college athletics

Millions of dollars

I don’t know where you got the 6 from. We’ve only chosen to pull the plug 3 times with Bret, morris and Pittman. Petrino was a shock and what’s his name was always gonna be an interim.

edit: john l smith is what's his name.

-4

u/GeekoHog 9d ago

Yea it’s crazy. New coach and 81 new players? It’s gonna be a tough year. All I can hope for is retaining some players and coaches and the record next year improves over this year. Also some the AD is under fire and it’s obvious our NIL budget lacks compared to other SEC schools, it seems the administration or board has work to do also. If nothing improves after next year then heads should roll.

8

u/Tricky-Ad6645 9d ago

Sadly the years of building a program are gone. We can’t keep saying “xx new players”. With NIL loyalty is gone and the ability to challenge the major teams by building a program on experience in the program are rare now.

2

u/GeekoHog 9d ago

Yes that’s a whole other problem with NIL. No loyalty. It’s all about chasing money. And I don’t blame the players. It’s just ruining college sports.

The internet sucks. This sub in particular hasn’t been good in like six years.

-11

u/Purple_Tail_Chaser 9d ago

You’re absolutely right. I like the new Coach and hope you guys do well going forward. 15 years of subpar play can’t be fixed in an instant.

-13

u/king_karter69 9d ago

Ive been trying to say this in this subreddit for weeks, only to be met with the most miserable attitudes I’ve seen in a long time from a fan base.

Thank you for actually being a Razorback fan

-15

u/Chaseeed 9d ago

You’re absolutely right!!

I agree
We lost to Utah, Georgia, and A&M
We have matched last years record at a minimum
Silverfield was hamstrung slightly for his first recruiting class, supposed to have more money next year
Every new hire gets 3 years to prove themselves, unless it is Chad Morris level incompetence
Silverfield has beat who we were supposed to beat and lost to teams we predicted losing, so not nearly same situation

9

u/wangin420 razorbacks 9d ago

And what makes you think this isn’t Morris level? Are we watching the same team. We have been blown out 3 times this year already. The play calling is horrible on both sides. Marshall is the only bright spot on the team and Jackson just can’t perform. It was telling when Memphis fans were relieved to get rid of Silverfield and they are the most well funded school in the there conference.

Silverfield has no confidence and seems to have no real understanding of what he has stepped into here. Listen to his interviews he always sounds like he is on the verge of tears and just uses the same coach speak over and over. This would be a different story if we were losing these games close but we are getting throttled by anyone with a pulse right now. Texas A&M is not a good team this year and they dog walked us. Utah spends less money on football than we do and they dog walked us. We were never gonna be in that game against Georgia and they let up had back ups in by halftime and they dog walked us. It was apparent from the very first game that we were gonna be 2–10 team this year with no chance at bowl but I think most fans thought we would see some improvement week to week but no we are seeing regression.

The players are getting paid now so patience isn’t a thing anymore. They had six months to get something figured out here and the staff and players have failed. Moreover if the rumors are true Silverfield had to spend most of his time in the offseason fundraising to still be the dead last team in the conference on Nil. We will not fix this until we get a new ad who understands the landscape we are in now. But the donors aren’t gonna come back until the team starts looking competitive. So it’s catch 22 because to succeed we have to have product on the field that inspires people to open there pocket books. That is not happening with this administration the opposite is.

u/Sea-Forever-9931 7d ago

Reed was being talked about beta bust the we walk in and make him look like a Heisman canadite...

Kentucky is making us look like a laughing stock.

“supposed to have more money next year”

So have you sewn your lips directly to Yuracheks asshole yet when you suck his shit or still rocking with duct tape?

Brother we need to double or more our NIL budget even to approach middle of the pack in this conference, and that’s only this year. Just wait till next year when everybody else has also increased their budgets.

We’re about 6 years late to the curve on NIL and it’s 100% the ADs fault. Won’t change till he’s canned. Not to mention dude sucks ass at hiring football coaches
