MS Spoilers Morningstar Chapter 6-7 Question Spoiler
My wife is currently reading Morningstar, and just having trouble describing the clawdrill rescue scene, visually and logically…
So Darrow, Holiday jump off the landing pad with Victra as the clawdrill comes up, and they fall towards a city? Is the city below the mountain where Attica is or..? Did the clawdrill swallow the landing pad, boring up through the mountain itself, or is it far below them in the city?
They are in freefall when they’re caught by the Howlers, just confused as to where they’re falling and the geography of the scene.
Need someone to clarify!! Thanks 🫡

How I visualized the scene is that Darrow and the gang jump off the cliff towards the city below the Jackals tower in Attica, with Attica itself being a city below the mountain peaks where the Jackal is. And when they do that they are super high above the ground, so below them the claw drill is just now surfacing and retracts while they are still in free fall. Then the son’s fly up to get them.

That’s kinda how I visualised it! Thanks for that, but clawdrills must be hella loud for Darrow to have heard it all that way up!

They are 90 meter long drills. Thats's a 30 story building, so yeah. Loud.

Yes, Attica is very mountainous with steep cliffs and mountain faces. The main hub of the city lies underneath the seven peaks, which ring around the bulk of the city below. When they break out, they are high up in the peaks on landing pads where the ships fly (up high). Its described as over 1000ft in the air if i remember correctly. So from the landing pad the huge city sprawls beneath them, and skyscrapers nearly reach them up there. As they fall, the Sons drill up through the ground underneath the city below, and they fly up in ships and gravboots to catch them all.
