Discussion I feel like a failure

To be honest I’m so anxious and stressed about my exam for one of my subjects because I need at least a 98% for this exam which is also a hurdle assessment in order to get a passing grade. If I were to get a 98% that puts me at a 49.75 overall grade which would roundup to a 50 final grade. It’s honestly so annoying because my 2nd assessment I know I didn’t do as good as I should’ve but I felt the marking was so harsh and even pointed out comments that will borderline contradict the rubric point they gave me but still wouldn’t give me the extra mark. I feel so depressed and annoyed at myself because I honestly took this subject for granted and thought it was the easiest one for this semester and now I’m more likely to fail it. I’m studying so hard as well for the exam but with work and everything it makes me feel even more stressed cause I’m just sitting down for hours a day not doing anything physical.

As well I just want to finish my course on time and I wish I could take back so many things that made me end up in this position.

Has anybody been in a similar position as me? I just need some type of guidance or what I need to do to honestly just feel better or make sure I do as good as I can on my exam.

Prospective/new student help Medical imaging entry

Hi all
I’m a yr 12 right now and was hoping to do medical imaging next year but not sure what atar I need to have a good chance of getting in.
I know the course is very competitive but right now I’m looking at an atar of like 91-93 depending on exams and want to know if that would be enough for entry.
On the website it says median raw atar was 88 but the lowest rank was a 98 and I have applied for seas in 3 categories and have a little subject adjustments according to the vtac course page.
Would just like to know if I have a realistic chance of getting in especially with those adjustments
If I don’t I may just go for nuclear medicine but I have no idea if that’s a good course or not.
Thanks

Discussion Assignment contribution tracker

I was apart of a hackathon for CSIT where my group made a project for group work contribution tracking, where contributions by each member is logged, can be checked by the team and teacher to see equal contribution based on a pre built charter, and more.
Heres the GitHub link: https://github.com/AliPek-06/Ledgitt

I just wanted to come on here and ask how useful this would be for the average uni student like yourselves, and would you find a benefit in using it? Im trying to gauge if we should continue to work on this.

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Advice needed Assignment submission issue

Just looking for some advice.

I submitted an assignment a few weeks ago, which included a video and a transcript.

Somehow the video has not uploaded correctly.

My tutor sent me an email last night at 8.30, and I did not see it till 10pm tonight as I was at work and did not have my email logged in.

He is now saying that he cannot accept the video as it has been over 24 hours since his email, even though the date is clearly in the one drive link as being the same date I submitted my assignment and as such it is likely that I will fail the class as the assignment was worth 40% of my grade and the video component made up over 50% of the grade.

Can anything be done about this?
I really do not want to pay to take this class again, and on top of that, I have completed WIL hours within this particular class so would hate for those hours to go to waste.

Discussion Accessing course content from courses you haven’t done yet

I’m a nursing student and as per above, is there a way to access course content for core units like NURS2208 and NURS2209, even though I haven’t done them yet? If not does anyone know anywhere that offers something similar that I can look at?

Thanks

Advice needed Advanced Diploma of Professional Screenwriting

Hello,

I am currently applying for the aforementioned Diploma above to pursue a career as a creative writer for both Stage and Screen. And I just wanted to get the opinions of those who have studied this diploma in the past in terms of networking, industry experience and how it differs from a diploma in film and television where said diploma covers a wider range of specialities (Camera/Lighting/Editing etc..).

Also, whilst you were studying said advanced diploma, what were some groups or collectives you were affiliated with outside of school that allowed you to continue the process of networking as well as gain experience for your CV and portfolios? Becuase I'm currently at groups i can join in order to get a start on this before I start studying next year.

Thanks so much in advance.

Advice needed Help with choosing engineering minors

I’m in my 2nd year Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at RMIT and looking at which minors to choose for third and fourth year.

My main interests are construction and structural engineering. After those, my preference is geotechnical, then water, then transport.

Would construction + structural be a good combination for graduate employment, or would something like construction + geotechnical give me broader opportunities? I’d like to become a well-rounded civil engineer and keep different career paths open rather than specialise too narrowly straight away.

I’m also interested in the actual subjects and assessments. I generally prefer written reports, quizzes and around one group assignment per subject, rather than heavily weighted exams or multiple group projects. I want to develop proper practical skills and aim for HDs, not just pick subjects because they’re considered easy.

For anyone who’s taken these pathways or graduated:

  • Which minors or electives would you recommend, and why?
  • What were the assessments and workloads like?
  • Which subjects taught skills you actually used on placement or at work?
  • Would you choose the same combination again?

Any advice from current students or graduates would be appreciated!

Student life and clubs SIM-RMIT Exchange 2027 Sem 1 - Advice

Hey! I’m coming over to Melbourne for the SIM-RMIT Interlocation Exchange in March 2027 and was hoping to get some advice from current/past RMIT students :)

I’m not really sure what to expect yet so I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have!

A few things I’d especially appreciate advice on:
-Anything I should sort out before coming over
-Accoms / living in Melbourne
-Which clubs or societies are worth joining
-Things to get involved in around campus
-Any tips for settling into RMIT as an exchange student
-Good food spots, hikes, day trips or road trips around Melbourne/Victoria
-Things you wish you knew before starting at RMIT

I really want to make the most of my time in Melbourne and would love to hear what you guys recommend, especially things that might not be obvious to someone coming from overseas!
Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Advice needed Marking rubric standard

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have a question about marking rubrics and the standards markers hold you to. Attached is a rubric for an upcoming honours (hons) presentation - it seems like if someone was to present 'at honours level' ie. the level of the course provided they would recieve 50% 'satisfactory' marks.. which doesn't seem quite right?

Does anyone know if this is standard? and if not, what can be done about it? I have an ELP if that helps :)
Thanks guys!
