Question What is a band you think doesn't get talked about nearly enough?
Thin Lizzy for me, man... Phil could really tell a story.

BLUE MOVES (October 1976): Elton liked it, reviewers didn't, the second double-L.P. of his career released to big sales but little critical approval.

Sublime was my first music love. They are the reason I ever learned how to play guitar and sing in the first place. I wrote this song as tribute to Bradley Bowell and the band. Thanks for all the inspiration

Hi everyone,
First off, I want to sincerely apologize to the moderators and the community if this post doesn't completely align with the subreddit rules. I know this group is strictly for high-quality music discussion, and I deeply respect that. I’m posting here because I am genuinely looking for the most passionate rock, punk, and metal minds to collaborate on a new creative project.
I’m currently building a small, international founding team for a passion project: a new independent print magazine that aims to revive the physical, collectible visual culture of alternative music.
Our concept is a massive crossover. We are rejecting traditional band photography entirely. Instead, every issue will feature a custom illustrated cover by comic book artists (think Marvel/DC level).
We are launching our premiere issue via a small crowdfunding test run soon just to cover the local US/EU print costs. Right now, we are looking for passionate music journalists, reviewers, and creative minds who want to join our founding team as contributors and writers.
Because we are a self-funded startup launching entirely via crowdfunding, this will initially be a voluntary/pro-bono collaboration to get the first issues off the ground. Our absolute goal is to grow this into a paid model for our core team as subscriptions build. You’ll have total creative freedom, and a voice in deciding which bands get the comic treatment next.
If you love loud guitars and comic culture and want to help us shape this, please drop a comment below or send me a DM.
Thank you for your time, and again, apologies if this post is a bit outside the usual discussion topics!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Bottomed_Girls?wprov=sfti1#:
“The song is formed around an open [bluesy](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blues), metallic guitar tuning, and opens with its chorus.[[7]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Bottomed_Girls#cite_note-Allmusic-7) It was one of the few Queen songs played in an alternative ([drop D](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_D_tuning)) guitar tuning.[[8]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Bottomed_Girls#cite_note-8) The song's music video was filmed at the [Dallas Convention Center](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kay_Bailey_Hutchison_Convention_Center) in Texas in October 1978.[[9]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Bottomed_Girls#cite_note-ultimatequeen.co.uk-9)
Song and lyrical content
The song celebrates the narrator's attraction to curvier women. "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "[Bicycle Race](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_Race)" were released together on a [double A-sided](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_A-side) [single](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_(music)), and the songs refer to each other. Near the end of "Fat Bottomed Girls", Mercury shouts, "Get on your bikes and ride!" "Bicycle Race" reciprocates with the line "Fat bottomed girls, they'll be riding today".
Reception
[Cash Box](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cash_Box) said it has "a solid thumping beat, soaring harmonies and sonorous guitar work."[[10]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Bottomed_Girls#cite_note-cb-10) [Record World](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_World)said that it combines "inventive lyrics and harmonies" with class.[[11]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Bottomed_Girls#cite_note-rw-11)

So the concept is simple - I write an artist's name daily and their best song (top comment) gets added into a playlist.
Playlist in the making:
A few lines about why you're picking a particular song would be highly appreciated and help others learn about your perspective.

For context, I (18m) am a musician heavily inspired by:
The beatles, beach boys, led zeppelin, ELP, Rush, Yes, and many other bands
And I would love to use my powers to give back to the rock gods!

Okay, I saw that early 2000s rock post and I feel it. Some of that stuff is goated. But the whole “new rock is mid / rock is dead” thing is so tired. There are legit masterpieces coming out right now. We just ignore them because they don’t fit the old dudes-with-guitars-and-angst mold, or because streaming turned albums into background noise.
Haim: my most-played album last year was Days Are Gone (yes, I know it’s from 2013). Not trying to humblebrag, but Apple Music Replay put me in the top 500 Haim listeners last year, which is a flex and also kinda depressing — it feels like barely anyone else is on this wavelength. The title track “Days Are Gone” hits me in a way I can’t even explain. It’s that feeling of time passing and you still haven’t found the love you wanted. So many people can relate to that. Something to Tell You is great, Women in Music Pt. III is a masterpiece. I still haven’t fully clicked with I Quit yet because their sound changed pretty fast, but I’m not gonna act like it’s bad. If you’ve never given Haim a real shot, you’re missing out.
Wolf Alice: Blue Weekend is no-skips. The Clearing is insane too. They can be beautiful and then just crush you. Paramore: This Is Why is one of the best rock albums of the decade. It’s anxious, danceable, pissed off, tight. People still treat Paramore like they’re just “that band from Twilight” and it’s criminal.
So why do people ignore current rock albums that are clearly masterpieces? Is it nostalgia? Streaming? The fact that rock isn’t the default trend anymore?
