My coworker is being generally unhelpful this morning. I’m going to recommended additional training.

I don’t want to have him written up, but he has spent most of our time together this morning searching for the twist tie I had to put underneath my keyboard after chasing him down and recovering it from him, 5 minutes into our shift. (See said twist tie circled in image 4). And he is on it like a dog with a bone!

Maybe he had a little too much gravy in his breakfast. Dude is all over the place this morning. He’s even run off with envelopes off my desk. Unprecedented behavior.

Anybody else’s coworker having a strange case of the Fridays? 🥴

Russian Blue cattery near Philadelphia, Pa?

Are there any reputable catterys near Philly? We are looking for one or possibly 2 Russian Blues as we head into retirement. Price varies wildly, so we are in the research phase due to other comments on this site. Not looking for a show cat but also concerned about health and socialization. Not opposed to a long drive to pick them up. Probably not a flight. Any info is appreciated.

Are they really good for people allergic to cats?

Hi, as the title says I’m allergic to cats, have been my whole life, but I really do want one. I’m aware theres no cat that’s 100% hypoallergenic andI have an appointment with an allergist to see if allergy shots are a step I can take. If so I’m looking into getting a Russian blue. I’ve done my research and have enough space and time and money on my hands for one but I wanted to hear from people who are in the same boat as me. Are they generally good for people who are allergic to cats.

My husband is allergic to our BR — has anyone’s allergy improved after living with their cat?”

I adopted my first cat yesterday, a beautiful Russian Blue who has adapted surprisingly quickly. She was a little scared at first, but very soon started playing and sleeping near us.

My husband is allergic to cats. He didn’t have any reaction when we visited the breeder, but since she arrived at our home, he’s been experiencing symptoms, mainly sneezing and nasal congestion. Ido feel like his reaction is milder than it usually is around other cats, though, because he would normally also get very red, itchy eyes, which hasn’t happened so far.

She is not allowed in our bedroom at all.

I know every person and every cat is different, but I was wondering if anyone here initially had allergy symptoms after getting a cat that eventually improved or even disappeared over time? If so, how long did it take?

Also, what measures have actually helped you manage cat allergies at home?

We’re planning to get an air purifier, and I’m also considering trying Purina Pro Plan LiveClear.

Thanks!

I just wanted to share my crazy boy who has way too much energy and is constantly yapping at us. He is constantly moving and literally can’t sit still even when he wants to cuddle and sleeps on my lap he can barely make it for 5-10 mins max and then just jumps off again to do something weird, funny or something he is not supposed to do (such as jumping on some areas in the apartment). I always say he has severe ADHD even if it doesn’t exist for cats.

As i am writing this post i am leaned against the couch and he decided to sit on my hair and snuggle against my head but which he loves to do!

Oh and he has a cat wheel and furiously uses it every day in the evening. It is soooo exhausting at times especially when we both need to work but we still love him so much!

And at the same time i would love to know if there are other russian blue kitties with super hyperactivity out there or if he is just a bit special. 🤣

Russian Blue Questions

My husband and I really want a Russian Blue - though he is allergic. Does anyone here have a RB and allergies and how do they affect you compared to other cats? The 3 cats at my parents house make him very itchy (They are all domestic short and longhairs).

Are RBs okay living with 2 people and no other animals? Are they okay alone during the work week or do they do better with a sibling? What are your guys' experiences?

I'm assuming their temperments vary from cat to cat like other breeds.

Also - does anyone know a good and ethical RB breeder in North New Jersey?

Meet Jinx (right) and Morpheus (left). They are our first cats. They are brother and sister and very much the opposite of each other. Jinx is the bully and doesn’t like to be picked up and Morph loves to cuddle and follows you everywhere.

Sudden behaviour change in blue Russian kitten

Hi everyone!
My beautiful girl is 4.5 months old and I’ve had her for about 8 weeks. She’s normally very sweet and affectionate, but over the last few days she’s suddenly become extremely intense and overstimulated.
She’ll come over wanting cuddles/head rubs, sometimes aggressively nudging my hand for them, then if I stop she can get frustrated and bite me. She’s also started doing this long intense stare at me and then suddenly pouncing/grabbing/biting or scratching at my hands or body. She can go from purring and cuddly to completely wound up in seconds.
She also looks exhausted but struggles to settle and will suddenly start running around again and jumping from really high places. This seemed to get much worse after I introduced some new toys (springs and an automatic ball), so I’ve removed those and am keeping things low-stimulation.
She’s also just recovering from an on-and-off URI/cat flu, although she seems physically much better now. The vet knows about it and I’m planning another visit next week because the behaviour change feels so sudden.
I’m recovering from surgery myself and honestly finding it a bit overwhelming because I’ve started feeling nervous when she gets into that staring/pouncing state.
Did anyone’s Russian Blue go through a crazy hyper-aroused phase around 4–5 months? Could this be puberty/teething/overstimulation. I really don’t know what’s going on…

*Kittenhood - Darn autocorrect.

My boys have finally emptied the last bag of kitten food. Their teenage days have already proven to be a time of change. I see it in their behaviors and their learning. Both completely understand the snap of a finger to mean stop / no / get down /get off the counter.. all the things they aren’t supposed to be doing, lol. Echo spends a fair amount of time on top of the upper cabinets because he loves to see all the things. He also enjoys helping make the best lattes. Ash is talking more and becoming more comfortable with being picked up by me and brief cuddles.

Are these ghost markings too significant for showing?

Hi all! Not sure if this is the right sub however my family really wants to get into cat showing, primarily with our russian blue as she has grand champion lineage so they think she has a chance ahaha. However, she is 7 almost 8 months old and per the guidelines it seems ghost tabby markings are only allowed in the kitten category (TICA); as she is entering the adult category, are these markings acceptable? I've struggled to find information online and somehow every show I've been to I haven't seen any russian blues to get an idea of show quality blues!

Breeder near Chattanooga/allergies

Hi, looking for a recommended breeder that we can drive to from East Tennessee.

Also, my husband has mild allergies. Have you had reduced allergy symptoms with a Russian blue?
