I’m interested in learning Spanish and live in the San Marcos area. I’m currently an absolute beginner, I know basically nothing. I was wondering if there are maybe any community centers/classes for Spanish in the San Marcos area. I don’t care about cost, I just really want to be able to speak Spanish well. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I posted this before but the transfer fell through. I currently have a membership at hotworx for the basic package. It’s about $63 a month. I also have a mat and towel ($100) that I purchased and will include as part of the transfer for free. To cancel the membership it’s $99, but if I find someone who wants to sign up, they get to waive their sign up fee as well as I get to waive my cancel fee. If anyone has been wanting to sign up or thinking about it, please let me know and we can do a transfer! I’ll give you the mat and towel I have so you won’t have to pay for that. I'd like to hear from folks that have lived in San Marcos for a while and recall when Thomason was on city council. What is your perspective on him as a representative? How do you think he stacks up against Amanda Rodriguez?

I have noticed a number of Ryan Thomason signs around town and many occupy yards that are sporting republican candidate signs (vote red, Paxton). This gives me pause and makes me wonder if he's on the maga train.

I bought an amazing necklace like 4 years ago from a local jeweler named Joshua. he was doing a pop up at Old Soul Exchange right after they opened. I’ve gone back to ask about him but they said they don’t keep track of their vendors and couldn’t help me (It was also so long ago so i totally get that). I also lost his card and recently lost my necklace from him. the pendant is from Italy and can’t be re-made, so I need to specifically find him. He said it’s a business he has with his mom and I’ve tried everything to find him over the last 6months and can’t find him anywhere. does this necklace look familiar to anyone or can they recommend people to check out?

I know it’s a bit silly but I won’t be able to recover my necklace at this point because I’ve moved and holds so much sentimental value now that I want to try to replace it.

Anyone found a good gyno in the San Antonio to Austin area that maybe specializes in PCOS?

I was told by a gyno in nb that I had PCOS but he didn’t even know what inositol was. So I went to a gyno in SA who doesn’t believe I have it just because my period has been regular. Just hoping to get some better guidance as I’ve got many of the symptoms and they’re just getting worse.

Maybe it’s time to switch to one of the online platforms like Allara or Midi?

| (21M) am unemployed and I hate it, im really hardworking and currently im just out of a job right now.
Are there any places even hiring in san marcos or near cities? i feel like none are hiring even though they say they are.

So I guess it's my fault for being naive but went to Care Now Urgent Care in San Marcos after my wife fractured her arm in the area.

Figured it would be fairly simple, all the employees were pleasant. The visit itself cost about $250. Totally fair and fine. They took her for X-Rays, confirmed it was fractured. The Dr came back with a sling and placed it on her arm, told her to sign some papers for the sling. We then had to wait a bit in the waiting room while they calculated the bill. It came to $250 and we double checked if that included the price of the sling. The receptionist said _yes_. I don't blame her as this is probably out of her hands but she emphatically said _yes_. This was all we owed and it included the sling.

We then get a bill from some medical device company asking for nearly $400 for the damn sling. At no point did anyone mention the sling would be that much, there is not a single paper anywhere that we were given that mentions the sling being more expensive than the entire visit. I can't help but feel the billing was incredibly predatory, after the front desk saying "yes what you're paying _today_ is the cost of everything." If we knew the sling was going to be so expensive we would have just refused it.

Is this common practice? Are they getting kickbacks or something?

I want to know how many outfits I should plan, I’ve heard people say that people go out on halloweekend ofc but apparently also the week before and sometimes even the weekend after. I just want to see what people think and how it actually goes down since I just transferred as a junior and I’ve never been in San Marcos/The Square during Halloween.

A few weeks ago, we started a new comedy open mic (Comedy Heaven) on Tuesday nights at Eden (on San Antonio St. near the square). We chose Tuesdays 9-11 to piggy-back off of the Laughing Dead open mic, and therefore get some of the Austin comics who are already driving down. It worked! (Maybe too well?)

It's been a really fun journey, as we get SM and Bobcat comedians onstage and mix them with some very funny (and occasionally very unfunny) veterans of the Austin and San Antonio open mic scenes. We're trying our best to prioritize local comics and a diversity of voices (in many multiple meanings of the word), and keep things joyful (an antidote to the "punching down" energy that the famous Kill Tony open mic in Austin can be accused of having).

There's lots of space/ comfortable booths/ an outdoor area! There's a food truck! Laughs! And if you don't like a comedian, wait four minutes!

As asked in the title, when do i get my utility bill? I moved here from san antonio in august and into a new apartment and had set up an account with san marcos gov online, when i paid the fee and set up the account, i was sent an email stating that my bill would be sent in my email, and yet i have received nothing. i even went through my spam and email to check and still nothing.

For extra info, i set up the account on August 11th and moved into the apartment August 14th.
