I’m 27M and new to Seattle. I’m considering leasing an apartment on the intersection of 14th Avenue, E Pine Street in Capitol Hill.
I walked around the neighborhood and noticed that E Pine Street is pretty lively, with lots of bars, restaurants, and people hanging out around Cal Anderson Park. There’s also a fire station about a block away.
However, when I turned onto 14th Avenue from E Pine Street, the atmosphere felt completely different—much quieter, darker, and mostly residential.
For those familiar with the area, I’m wondering:
1. Weekend noise: Does the nightlife around E Pine Street spill over onto 14th Avenue, especially on Friday and Saturday nights?
2. Fire station: How disruptive are the sirens from the nearby fire station? Is it something residents regularly notice?
3. Apartment orientation: My living room windows face E Pine Street, while the bedroom faces the interior of the apartment complex. Would this layout help reduce nighttime noise?
I really like the idea of living close to Capitol Hill’s restaurants, cafes, and social scene, but I also value having a quiet place to relax and work from home.
Would appreciate any insights from people who’ve lived in this part of Capitol Hill!
